  1. Gotta say it Mike, wow dude. Just wow. Hope they hold up for that tournament. Every fish I caught the other day was a porker. Definitely feeding in a big way right now. Even the dinks were chubby.
  2. Yeah. I was really surprised at how busy it was on a Monday morning. Didn't expect that. Didn't have any problems at the ramp, until I loaded up to pull out. A tour bus pulled up right as I was putting the boat on the trailer. Lots of confused little Asian people not paying attention. I'll probably use the second set of ramps next time.
  3. Sweet Jeebus! What a horse!
  4. Nope. There aren't any big fish out in Miramar. Fair warning, If you're asked to leave, it would behoove you to beat feet. The Miramar PD usually has cops at the workstations in each development. Good guys for the most part, but their kind of hamstrung by the developments. There is public property bordering some of the lakes if you know where to look. Some communities may allow fishing, but that's specific to the residents and on their property. Each HOA will have its specific rules. Mine has no fishing signs posted inside of the development.
  5. I had to get in on some holiday park action today after seeing some of the reports. Took me a while to find some quality fish. I haven't been out there in years. Once I did though, it was game on. Probably had somewhere around 20-22 pounds in 3.5 - 4 hours today. Lost an absolute slob that got wrapped up in some pad stems and jumped off. I'll probably have to head back out there later this week to give it another whirl. Man, that place is a zoo on Mondays. Tons of boats putting in this morning.
  6. Wow, Mike. You've definitely got it dialed in out there right now. I've got a feeling I'll be going to holiday instead of the lake tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad....
  7. Way to get em, Mike. Bet you guys were stoked.
  8. After hooking myself a while back I decided to start pinching down the barbs on all of my treble hooks baits. Haven't noticed any lost fish because of it. Easier to unhook them.....and me.
  9. I always wear one when I'm on the water. Great for he sun, great for keeping bugs out of your face when you make a run also. Wear the Buff gloves as well. Couldn't be happier with both products.
  10. Hard to argue with that. The only change for me would be that I use some lighter lures on my four power rods also. Full grips for me. I found they balanced a little better, plus they just feel right to me.
  11. Does it really matter? I'm pretty sure the fish don't give a d**n what you're using or riding around in.
  12. Naah. He didn't give it the ole Bill Dance fold and crease job.
  13. Mobile version works great for me most of the time. Using either Safari or Chrome on the iPhone. I'll switch over to the full site when I use my iPad though. Just a little easier for me that way.
  14. Took my kids out this morning to MM38. Fished the north side of the canal. Had a blast watching them boat fish after fish on wacky rigged Senkos. Landed around 60 in two and a half hours. Great place to take the little ones right now.
  15. Hit up Lox again today. Didn't find much happening in the canals other than a couple on a spook. Water was fairly dirty though. Got out into the grass flats and was in swimbait heaven. Wonderfully clear, moving water. Didn't boat any giants, but a bunch in the three pound range. Hooked something big, no clue what it was though. Water levels are lower than they were on Wednesday. Decided to call it a day around lunch. Somebody was clearing a bunch of land on the eastern side of the refuge. Burning trees and brush. Wind started to pick up quite a bit too. Good fun though. Just find that clear water and heave a paddletail.
  16. I've got a 34 on the stern and a 43 on the bow of my little Basstender 11.3. Wired two batteries together for the extra run time. Can fish for four or five hours and still be at roughly 75 to 80 percent charge remaining. Either one of them moves me around just fine.
  17. Already on my list of things I want to do. If not I'll fabricate one while is parked in my shop.
  18. Boooo. No private bodies of water. Ah well, I'm still in!
  19. So I finally dropped the ball and went out and bought myself a glass rig this weekend. Spent Saturday giving it a clean up, lubrication, checking nav lights, etc etc. Ended up spending just a little more than I wanted to, but it could have been worse. Small rig being only 16.5 ft, but it's plenty big for me considering 90% of my fishing will be solo and in smaller waters. Brand new 24v minn kota. Bluewater LED's. New 2 bank on board charger. New batteries. Just needed a little TLC on some of the deck lids. Still needs a good buffing on the gel coat. The only major issue is the seats need a complete replacement. Though I'm in contact with a company who is offering me a hell of a deal to replace them in exchange for some before and after photos. All that's left is to install the electronics I have at home and drop it in the water. Looking forward to that in a few days.
  20. Boy, I was planning on going to Lox or Blue Lagoon this week.... After reading through this thread the Alley is looking awfully fun...
  21. I see several large schools of Peacocks in my lake a week this time of the year. Sometimes 20+ fish per school. All sizes. It's wild watching them pound the banks when they wolf pack up like that. Everything will be calm, and then all hell will suddenly break loose when they start nailing bait. I really need to come up with a way to rig up an underwater camera to try and film it one day.
  22. I've got an Osprey that has taken up residence on a cell tower overlooking the lake behind my house. It's really amazing watching him take off and nail something in the water. Until you realize he's a FAR better angler than you... I've watched him scoop up some bass that I'd be thrilled to hook out in the middle of the lake.
  23. A properly tied Palomar has yet to fail on me. Whatever knot you decide to go with, lube it up good before you cinch it down. Odds are you'll be fine. Pick one and practice it until you can tie it without even thinking about it.
  24. Cuban coffee. Lots of it. Especially on work days. Rumor has it that if you drink enough you'll see into the future....
  25. Whatever you're comfortable with. Start somewhere and adjust from there. Settings will vary from reel to reel (even the same model) rod to rod, and person to person. Find a setting that you like and roll with it. You'll learn what works for YOU through a little bit of experience.
