  1. This time of the year, I try to get out prior to the sun coming over the horizon. It's way to hot and humid to be out in the middle of the day though. If the fishing is absolutely phenomenal, I'll deal with the heat. Otherwise I'm generally heading back home around mid day.
  2. Do yourself a favor before you start working on an engine you're not familiar with. Buy a factory service manual. Worth it's weight in gold. If it has sat for a year, you probably should spend the time and money to swap out the fuel lines and filters after draining the system. If you notice any separation, it might be a good idea to crack open the pump(s) to see if there is any build up in them as well. It could well be fine, but you never know.
  3. That 745 sure does the trick for me. I'll switch to the 744 for lighter jigs and footballs.
  4. It always amazes me how much RoLo knows about bass fishing. I'd like to consider myself a pretty good angler down here in our south Florida waters. I certainly realize that I'll never know everything, but each time I read his posts, I'm amazed as how much I still have left to go. Always love reading what you post, Roger. Thanks buddy.
  5. Only fishing I plan on doing is from my backyard tomorrow. I'm not even considering taking one of the boats out, unless it's the electric only one here at home. Don't feel like dealing with all the crazies that show up on Holidays. Saturday and Sunday though, different story. I will be taking the boat out to throw some swimbaits and do some flippin.
  6. I finally decided to eat the cost on storage for mine. Roughly 150 per month. Sucks, but it is what it is. I've got a nice sized two car garage. Catch is, it's got two doors instead of one large door. Even with my small glass boat, it ain't getting inside of either of those 8' wide doors. Sounds like you've got a similar situation as I do if you're dealing with 94" of space. Either go tin, or eat the storage price.
  7. I've landed far more fish punching with a rod that has a more parabolic action to it. Generally speaking, the longer the rod, the more parabolic it'll be. That's not "always" true though. I've got an older Crucial flipping stick that I just can't get rid of because it's got such a sweet action for flipping and punching grass.
  8. I'm tempted to go out this weekend. Not sure if I want to deal what will probably be a good crowd out there. Would be going out of Slims if I go. Probably throw swimbaits and moving baits early in the day before doing some flipping. Odds are ill end up at Lox instead. The water should be up enough to get out into the flats some.
  9. I knew you'd jump in at some point.
  10. Check out the video section here on BR. Glenn made a video not long ago that you might want to check out.
  11. Doesn't do it for me. Honestly, there aren't many freshwater fish that do. Just not a fan. If I've got to cover fish with seasonings and deep fry it to the point where you can tell what species it is, odds are I won't be having much of it if there's an alternative.
  12. Pretty darn much anything. I mean I've got my favorites from all over the place. My Pandora stations are just a completely random assortment of different music. All depends on how I feel at the time. But if I stumble across some good blues, that's where I'll be leaving it for a while.
  13. Fairly regularly. Weighted or weightless. Most of the time it's weightless though. Toss them up into a pad field and just slowly work them back to the boat.
  14. Dobyns 736. Haven't found one I've like more. Especially in and around heavy grass. If you're going to be in lighter vegetation the 735 is a d**n good frog rod as well.
  15. Same here. I bought and tried left handed casting reels. Just wasn't comfortable for me. For the life of me I can't understand why. I'm very ambidextrous. Probably was just a comfort level thing.
  16. Can't argue with any of that. It's cheap insurance to do. All of them are fairly quick and easy jobs to do at home. You don't want to deal with cooling problems. Mine overheated a few months ago. Slipped a sleeve inside the block. Grabbed the rings on that piston and that was the end of it. I use Mercury Quikleen and Quickare instead of Startron though. One thing I learned to keep handy in the boat from Mike at HawgTech, is one of those cheap pipe cleaners to clean out the tell tale. Costs like a buck for a package of them at Wally World. 95% of the time it does the job.
  17. Congrats! There's nothing better. Enjoy every moment.
  18. Lol. That was at least four or five years ago. Believe me, it was all dumb luck. I haven't come close to that at Holiday since. I'd be overjoyed with an 8 from there. Just got back in from Indy. Have one day before I fly back out for a day. I may go back to Holiday tomorrow. I'm sure the water has gone way up by now though. I found some nice lookin spots last time I was out which are probably done for until the water disappears again.
  19. Shame I can't repeat it. That was several years ago. Just blind luck. Haven't come close to that since then.
  20. Frogg Toggs. Go figure, I haven't had to use them since I bought them. Which is shocking with the amount of rain we've had down here lately.
  21. I know I can't on a regular basis. Lol. I've had a good average out there. I've stuck a couple of the better class fish, just haven't been able to get a good giant landed. I'm probably going to stick with Lox and Okeechobee for a while now. I'm really just waiting for the water levels to come up a little. I'm sure I'll still wind up at Holiday a few times. It's just too close to the house for me to pass up.
  22. Man. That's making me wish I wasn't in Indy for the week. Been here one day and I'm already wanting to get back home. Great fish!
