  1. How's it compare to the 705 glass? I need to pick up a new lipless rod soon.
  2. All depends on where you're fishing. 80% of the time I'm using straight braid. The other 20 it's straight fluoro.
  3. BPS extreme 7'6" Heavy On sale right now for 79.97. Pretty darn good bang for the buck.
  4. Suh to the Phins.... Ooh. Him and Wake make for a nasty tandem.
  5. Makes me wish I still had enough of a beard to shave with a hatchet.... Cool story, but those times will most likely quickly end for him.
  6. Happens to all of us at some point. Politeness just isn't a common thing these days. Neither is common sense. If you ever want a great show, just park yourself in a lawn chair with a few beers down here at a saltwater ramp on a nice weather weekend. I guarantee you won't leave disappointed.
  7. Make sure you check your association rules. Most of the time residents are permitted to fish their local waters inside the development.
  8. Honestly for areas like Holiday you just need some sort of GPS to mark stretches of the canals when you're fishing them. Schools of fish tend to congregate along certain runs of the banks. It's all a matter of finding a stretch of the better fish and sticking with them. There are ledges out there that hold fish, but again as long as you can mark the spot you'll be good to go. I can't think of a single time I've seen people idling around watching their graph.
  9. In December they'll probably be spawning. Generally speaking you'll see groups of fish spawning at different times. The weather can trigger a spawn pretty quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if people start seeing beds in the next couple of weeks. For the most part there is only one season down here....fishing season.
  10. One of my favorite places to fish. I wish I could get out there more often.
  11. No peacock fishing in that area. You'll need to drive over to Dade county to really get into Peacock area. If you're willing to make the trip, Okeechobee is always fun. I'd invest in a guided trip to make the most out of your day. It's a bit of a trip from Naples. Could be worth it though.
  12. Lox - Thursday morning Water temp was just over 68 degrees and the fish are starting to stage for an early spawn. I suppose the cold weather and the moon phase had something to do with that. Lots of small males moving into bedding areas. Only finished with around 18 pounds. Boated around 40 fish though, with the biggest going 4.5 - 5. I took off around 1:00 because they started burning brush near the ramps. With the winds out of the east it just started to smoke the whole southern end of the refuge. All in all it was d**n fun. Weighted Burner worms and Speed worms were the ticket for the day. It was blowing pretty good, so I wanted to keep the baits down under the surface. Definitely made me want to look into a talon or a power pole. One the better sheer numbers days I've ever had out there. Shame I couldn't get the better quality bites. I'd fully expect to see some really good fishing in the next week or two out there when the females start moving in. Water levels are fairly high. You can run around pretty much anywhere and get back deep into the trails.
  13. Was tempted to go back out today, but I just don't do cold windy mornings. My body doesn't like moving... Decided to go to Holiday yesterday just to run the boat and relax a little. Brought two rods with me. Flipped up 20 pounds in two and a half hours and called it quits. The water is way up high right now. Barely had to back down the ramp to put the boat in. Apparently fishing was pretty hot everywhere this weekend from what I've heard.
  14. Way to go, George. Healthy lookin girl for sure.
  15. I'm hoping to hit Lox this weekend. You know I'm going to get in touch with you Mike. Lol. I haven't been out there in a couple of months. No idea what's happening. Crazy how big your son has got since the last time I saw him. He's learning to catch them like a champ.
  16. Can happen from any fish. Really, it can happen from any foreign material entering your body. It's just your bodies natural reactive to stave off illness, bacteria, etc. Could be any number of reasons why it happened this time. Piece of the spine broke off, slime coat, bacteria. Who knows. Clean it and disinfect it as well as possible. Keep an eye on it. If it persists for an extended period of time or swells excessively, then you may want to think about medical attention. Odds are it's nothing to worry about. You should see my hands if I go lobster diving without gloves on. Lol
  17. Holiday can be rough this time of the year. Most of the fish have pulled back into the marsh by now. You can still pull a decent sack out of there if you grind it out and are able to find a good stretch or two. Won't be seeing many of those 30 pound limits until the water drops again.
  18. Lmao You and me both. I'll take slow days like that anytime. Wish I could find those quality fish like that more often.
  19. Pretty much nailed it. If you've never been out there, Lox is a cool place. Very picturesque out there. I personally have never seen the guys out there with the radar guns, but several people on here have. There's a gator hunt being allowed in a week or two. Protesters have already planned to show up. I think it's only allowed Friday and Saturday nights. But you can bet that there will be somebody out there with a camera trying to interviews before too long.
  20. Muscle memory comes into play after a while. You don't even realize it. I've got a foot control on my electric boat and don't even notice it when I change which foot is on the pedal. Hand control on my glass boat, again I don't even notice it when I'm using it. Some type of hybrid system would be pretty awesome. Couldn't even imagine what that would cost though.
  21. Sad to hear it. Loved him. Was just a funny guy. He definitely had his issues throughout life though. Shame to see him go.
  22. Different baits for different times. Hard to do a direct comparison between the two. I've had days where a Zoom Toad would far out produce a Rage Toad and vise versa. Both of them are great baits.
  23. Hit lox this morning. Sun up until 11. HOT weather today. Water temps were up there also. Probably my last trip out for a couple of months unless I can sneak out next weekend. I start up a big project on the 18th. Slow bite today. Took a while to find a few fish. Went back into the flats a good bit and found a deep hole that I never knew about. Wide open clear spot with about a foot and a half of deeper water in it compared to what surrounded it. Slowly swum a weighted Burner Worm through it and started to get bit. Ended up with a decent bag. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of that worm. It just comes through grass so well. Nice option for getting down into and through deeper grass. It's become a regular in my lineup.
