  1. The size of the lure doesn't matter. It's the weight.
  2. x2 My wallet is really getting angry at me this year.
  3. Kind of a silly poll IMO. The Curado is the better reel. The Citica is probably the best bang for the buck out of the two reels though.
  4. Great info. Somebody needs to give Ann-Marie a Battery Guru title or something.
  5. Gotta love it. Theres nothing better than taking a kid fishing...and catching. Give me a shout next time you plan on heading back to that lake. Sorry I missed the last couple of times, got stuck doing the whole real life thing.
  6. Took me longer to drive down to the boat, fill up with gas, and get out to my spot than it did to catch our limit. My father, daughters, and I pulled 24 in about an hour. Gotta love having secret little spots that have produced year after year after year for the last 20 years. I don't think I've ever seen so many commercial lobster pots out before though. d**n things were everywhere. I was almost concerned about wrapping up some of the lines in the prop at one point. Somebody must have dumped an entire boat load on this one reef that I used to dive on. Unfortunatley, if you do the math. I lost money today. 140 bucks in fuel, 24 lobster, thats close to 6 bucks a bug. Really more than that if you count food that got bought, and gas for the truck to drive down. At least it's fun.
  7. I threw one for the first time this year t-rigged last week. It produced some fish. I've used them several times this year on a flick shake. There are other soft plastics I'd rather use, but I'll still keep a pack or two in my bag if I run into a situation that I need them. I'll let my kids or my father use them more than I will.
  8. I've never really felt the need to add one onto my flick shake jigs. If you're that concerned about it, you can heat shrink on a weedguard though. I believe it was Wayne P that showed how he added weedguards to his wacky hooks a while back. You may try doing a search for that.
  9. It happens. Oh well. Theres plenty of other fish to catch. I mean, it stinks losing a big one. Short of it being a World Record, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
  10. Out of sheer curiosity, is there any reason why you feel that you must use six pound leader?
  11. Don't you know? On the internet, Humminbird and Lowrance both have absolutely horrible customer service.
  12. Sorry to hear that. I grew up having tons of animals always around the house. Really stinks to lose a pet. They really are part of the family. The dog I have now was a rescue and is starting to get to that point where we realize that she's getting really old. I'm not looking forward to the inevitable. I really don't know how my daughters are going to take that. They've never dealt with that before. My brother has a Boxer that I absolutely love. Goofy looking thing. When I decide to get another dog, if I don't get a Doberman for the third time; it will most likely be a Boxer.
  13. http://www.lineart.redshad.com/MegaStrike/ Works fine on my end.
  14. I rarely have to retie mine. 30-40 pound power pro. 12lb AbrazX or 14lb XPS fluoro. Edited to add: Unless it's obviously chaffed. In that case I'll retie.
  15. If any of you go to click that link, add www in front of it. Otherwise it won't work. The colors look good, Bobby. I'll probably place an order before too long. Need some more jigs anyway.
  16. Hit the gym! ;D 1/4oz Chatterbaits are fairly small. I use a 6.4 and have no problems with them. When I get into some of the 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz, then it can get a bit troublesome. You'll get used to it in time. You just aren't used to cranking something like that.
  17. I had the same problems you did when I switched to braid. Chances are it's your knot. Or a combination of knot and bad leader material. Make sure you really wet the line and leader when you start to cinch down the knot. Fluoro hates heat and it will weaken very easily if the knot is tied improperly. I initially used the uni-uni, but would still break off at the knot once in a while. Switching to the alberto made a huge difference. I'm a fairly strong hooksetter and have yet to break off at the knot since I switched over to that knot. You may also want to try a different brand of line all together for your leader. Sometimes you can end up with a bad spool of line. If thats the case, you'll never have a knot hold up for a while. Personally, I would look at a larger FC. Something in the 10-14 pound range would probably mate up better with the braid.
  18. I think there is a time and a place for both. Personally, I like a t-rigged plastic myself. I'm getting better at flipping jigs into junk, but a t-rig still goes through easier for me. I think a lot of it has to deal with the kind of junk we have down here in the water. Some of the stuff is just downright nasty.
  19. Fiberglassing it like Rhino mentioned should work. It's fairly easy to do. Another option is the plastic wood. That stuff is kind of heavy though. It definitely will not rot though.
  20. I'm not sure how it can have better reviews...when the new Lowrance units haven't really been reviewed yet. They were just shown at ICAST. I believe they won best electronics with the new DSI units.
  21. ;D Whoops? You can bet that you'll get better readings. The cone will actually be pointing at the bottom.
  22. Pics below. Feels comfortable to me. Obviously your tastes will differ from mine. Take your reel to a retailer near you that carries the rods and put it on there and try it out. Thats the best way you'll be able to check for yourself. As far as the warranty goes, lifetime over the counter replacement. How I usually hold it Two fingers above and below like you mentioned
  23. One of your other options is to wait a while for the new Lowrance units to get released for sale. If you don't need side imaging, you can get an HD down imaging only unit for around 650 bucks. Looking forward to that unit coming out for myself. I think those come out early next year.
  24. You gotta get these things up on the website, Bobby.
