  1. I think the only times I present a bait with one hand on the rod is when I'm pitchin or flippin. Other than that it's two hands.
  2. Welcome to BR! Always glad to see another local guy. Make sure you steal some of those monster worms from Shane and send them my way when you get a chance. ;D
  3. I'm very happy with it. Had zero breaking at the knot yesterday at all. Couldn't be happier with it.
  4. MH - Frog switched to a soft plastic swimbait later in the day MH - Big Worm Crankin - Lipless Crank M - Smaller Texas rigged plastic Spinning - Shaky Head
  5. Out of curiosity, when I go to wire a pair of batteries in parallel, do you guys think it would be fine if I used one group 27 and one 24? I want to have a little more juice throughout the day, but I don't really want to go out and buy another group 27 right now if I don't need to.
  6. Don't really care. All of my reels are silver, so that matches basically everything.
  7. Tell you what, as much as that wind was blowing, the braid was becoming a PIA every once in a while. I definitely learned what seems work out there though. Really only need to bring a small handful of lures. We worked one of the cuts for a bit before we ran into you guys down at the water control. Got a few hits right on one of the points. Thats where Mike hooked up with that large Mudfish. You should have seen his face when he realized what it was. Mike, If we stayed keyed onto that grass throughout the day we really could have done some damage. That last hour and a half was great. Those small spots where the water was a foot or two deeper definitely were holding fish. I got my butt kicked earlier in the day when we were worming, definitely made up for that with the swimbaits. I was surprised how much of a difference that chartreuse tail made. Next time I'm out there it's going to be simple. A Spro or a toad, bigger worm of some kind, and a dipper. I'm actually thinking of replacing that weaker rod tomorrow. That thing is great for peacocks, but I missed several fish because of the weaker backbone on it.
  8. Yeesh, thats a big catfish.
  9. Definitely sounds good to do it again sometime. On a sidenote, I get to the house and lo and behold, my order from TW is sitting on the porch. Would have been nice if I had some of that stuff earlier...
  10. What a stupid way to die. It's hard to feel any kind of remorse for something like that. I mean, you feel sorry for the family, but wow, drunken jet skiing without a life jacket. I know what you mean no sympathy for that dude. : The way I understood his wife was on the back of the jet ski. Real sad and stupid stuff. Just wear the jacket. That just makes it even worse. When you start endangering other people, you're a total moron. If you're going to get boozed up and kill yourself, fine. Just make sure I'm nowhere in the area.
  11. Shop around. Laptops are incredibly cheap now. You can get a fairly good quality machine for very little money right now. Especially for what you seem to need it for.
  12. Happy B-Day. Hope you have a good one.
  13. Wasn't a terrible day, nothing of real size got caught though. Bruce had the largest, somewhere around four. A few three pounders came up. Mostly everything Mike and I got to the boat were small. Lots of dinks with a couple of two pounders, then a three at the end of the day. I missed a really nice fish the first cast after releasing the three. 95% of the fish we caught were out in the eelgrass in some of the deeper pockets. Wish some of those earlier fish would have taken the frogs in a little better. I probably should have switched to a Spro at some point after all the short strikes we were getting. A follow up bait would have been smart as well. All in all, I can't complain. We were out fishing on a weekday with pretty much nobody else out there.

  15. Lol. I know the feeling. Life would be so much better without those annoying bills getting in the way of fun.
  16. Really, you need to go to a store that stocks the models you are looking at. Pick them up and give each one a feel. Lots of places will let you stick a reel on it if you ask them. If not, bring your own. Asking people here for opinions is great, you can try to narrow down your choices. To get the best answer though, YOU need to handle them and make the decision based on which feels best for you. Not everybody likes an uber light rod, some like a little more heft to them.
  17. Couple of Shimano Crucials. "Another" Pro Qualifier Shimano Spinning Reel That Stradic C14 was staring me in the face while I was messing around with it in the store, I may have to go back and buy one. Francho, you want to loan me your credit card for a few hours? I promise, I won't go overboard...
  18. Most of the stuff I've heard about them has been negative. I'll have to check my browsers history, I found a few reviews a while back after Byron Velvick won.
  19. PM's sent to everybody going. I've got at least one phone number for each boat. If you want me to add you to my list, just let me know. I'll be there in the morning sometime around 5:30-5:45. I know some other guys are getting there around a quarter to six as well. See you guys in the morning. Edited to add: I just noticed I put Bocabasser's boat as #2 as well. Should have been #4, just a typo.
  20. Sounds good, Steve. How are they priced? Around the same as the rest of the Rage lineup? I'm looking forward to getting a hold of some of these to use on the flats.
  21. Great pics, Francho. Looks like you guys had a great time. Sorry to hear about your buddy though.
  22. Unless you have them in a very good marine quality fuse holder, they can break fairly easily with the impact a boat on a plane takes. A little too much vibration can just destroy those glass fuses.
  23. I've still got a small box of GYCB that I'll refill once in a while. They still produce, but nowhere near the numbers that the Rage Tail lineup does. I never really had much luck with baits like the Paca craws from Net-bait.
  24. I was hoping to see a soft plastic rage tailed swimbait or a larger grub at ICAST. Steve, you let me down. :'(
  25. Wish you were coming along, Sal. Hope that surgery goes well for you tomorrow.
