  1. Humminbird makes this... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_97460_250003001_250000000_250003000_250-3-1 That one is $130. Theres a few other models that are a little more expensive. Probably would work for you since you've got a boat you can mount it on. Pop it off and switch it to the other boat when you need to.
  2. Feel free to send me all those other plastics that you're not going to use. I'll give them a happy home.
  3. Sounds like you had a great day. Way to go.
  4. I'm not sure what type of steering you have, but I know I had a similar issue in my saltwater boat a while back. Just needed some hydraulic fluid added. Problem solved. So if you've got a hydraulic steering, you may want to check that out first. It's easy, takes all of five minutes. And it's a cheap fix if thats all thats wrong.
  5. Thats not something that you can really fix. You're dealing with wave action on the surface causing the boat to go up and down, the swing of the boat at anchor, etc etc.
  6. Here you are, LunkerLust. Be forewarned, the battery I was using was pretty much dead. I'm sure that effected sonar performance some. The transducer also isn't perfectly leveled on the transom as this was put on temporarily until I find a new rig. The yellow band would be the bottom. The junk on top is part of a big chunk of hydrilla. More hydrilla in a different chart color scheme
  7. Looks like an interesting lure. That video was really frightening at the end though....
  8. I would like to see that setup for my eagle 642 mark I'll try and get you a picture tomorrow with my eagle shooting through some weeds. Key word...try.
  9. Lessons? If lessons can land fish like that, where and when do I sign up? Or better yet, when and where can I come pounding on your door?
  10. I think you may be the only person in southern Florida catching fish... Nice fish right there. Sounds like you had a great day.
  11. I made the mistake of going to BPS earlier today in hopes of having an afternoon of fishing. I should have fished this morning while the winds were calm. Oh well. I think I'm done shopping for the year at least. I've got a stack of receipts about an inch thick that I need to tally up to see what I've actually spent. Looks like the weather for the week should be nice with the winds starting to die down on Tuesday.
  12. I didn't do terribly bad today. The wind was blowing like all hell, so I didn't stay out long. I managed to get a few Peacocks up to about 3 pounds on a Glass Ghost X-rap.
  13. I'll second Steve McDonald.
  14. That boat that you were talking about would be called a Gheenoe.
  15. Sure thing. By the way, make sure you install the transducer properly or none of that great info will really mean a thing.
  16. I'm sure there is, I'm just getting impatient. I won't buy something unless I think it'll fit what I want though. I've found several potentials, so who knows...
  17. Ideally a 12'-14' wide bottom jon. I may just end up buying it new. I really don't want to spend that much between the freight and new boat price plus the stuff I want to add to it. I'd buy a smaller bass boat, except my d**n association doesn't allow trailers and my garage is only about 20' deep from door to wall.
  18. The difference between Owners and Gammy's has been argued about for a long while. Both of them are great hook companies. One has a conical point, one has the hypodermic cutting point. I've got both brands in my box.
  19. Without being there to help you, my best advice would be to look for a service manual for your specific engine. Mine has been extremely handy over the years of using the boat. I would check the fuel system completely. You're obviously not getting fuel somehow. Start simple and check things like the filter, lines, etc etc. Like Way2slow said, check the carbs out. You may have a stuck needle somewhere. You may want to try using a product called Seafoam to clean some of the stuff out.
  20. I will say this. I've got a Ram Mount on the sonar I have on the lake and one on my offshore boat. You can't go wrong with buying them. Good product. The only drawback is that you need to buy the hardware to install it. I think the one I recently installed cost me about 3 bucks for the stainless bolts/nuts/screws at Home Depot.
  21. There was a thread a while back here where somebody did a home made ram mount that was pretty cheap and easy to do. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1265152281/0 Unfortunatley it looks like the pictures are gone now. You may be able to PM Bassnajr about getting them.
  22. Like TopDog said, a light flat floor and seats would be nice. Perhaps build a small storage box/trolling motor platform at the bow, and a nice sonar. Thats about all you'll have room for on a 10' Jon.
  23. Nice Tuna right there. Had to be a great fight trying to haul in a small bus like that.
  24. I "THINK" you meant this page, I just thought about it while I was looking through the board... http://fishinweb.com/messages/messages/13028/13028.html?1254779454 Thats got several great sonar articles.
  25. I think the guys name is Wilson Frazier. Theres a few short videos on youtube with him. I think he has a book or DvD as well as seminars that he does. Use the internet though. Theres a gross amount of information on a million different sites about sonar and how to read the display. After going through them, you'll start to notice that a lot of them offer pretty much the same info. Jot down some notes as you read and you'll start to understand the important parts.
