  1. Back you evil beast!! The worst part is that the d**n monkey has sunk it's teeth into both of my six year olds now...
  2. This thread made me think...I need to get some junebug colored flukes...
  3. I've got tons of purple and purple variations in my box. One of my best colors this year has been Junebug Red. Just normal junebug color with some red flake stuck in it as well. Works great for me.
  4. Good luck with the weather....
  5. I've never had a problem with either of my BPS' honored online or catalog prices in store. The customer service reps have gone online for me and checked out the prices and been happy to go with those.
  6. I went out early this morning and got a decent topwater bite. Then had some success on slow retrieved spinnerbaits. Then I was slowly working a swim senko and picked up a few nice fish on that. You don't always have to be slow and low, you've just got to give the fish what they want. I was burning a rage shad across the water this morning and had a blast.
  7. It was like 30 degrees for a week and a half. Thats friggin cold for this area. Drawback is now all the dead iguanas and anoles in my area. I guess it's better to have those than dead fish like other people down here...
  8. You shouldn't have any problems buying used if you're smart about it. Get it thoroughly check out by a marine mechanic, etc etc. People buy used cars all the time, some have good luck, some have bad luck, some say screw the luck and do the legwork to make sure they don't buy a lemon. Down here insurance is not required I don't believe. You'd be smart to have insurance just in case. And if it's not required, it d**n well should be. Hell, I'd love to see the state implement required marine drivers licenses.
  9. I r mind reader... And thanks guys, the stupidly hot water worked just fine....I wonder if I can add some scent to plastics like this when I need to straighten them out...
  10. So as I've been going through some of my gear to hopefully go fishing tomorrow morning I've noticed that some of my plastics have minor kinks in them. Like the tails on swim senkos, tails on zoom speed worms, etc etc. I know it's from the way I store my bags more than likely, but I was wondering if you all have a way to straighten them back out somewhat. I'd guess probably a lighter to soften the plastic a bit, but I'm not really sure. Let me know what you all think.
  11. Nice kayak you've got there. Wish I had the cash on hand to get into kayaking right now.
  12. Nice read in that article. I saw several largemouths cruising the shoreline on my lake this afternoon. Hopefully the peacocks won't be far behind. Yay for warmer weather!
  13. Winner winner chicken dinner.. I let my engine warm up every time I launch no matter what. I always figured it was a common sense kind of thing. Mind you, I have an older engine on my boat and I'm not sure how the newer motors work. I would assume the same holds true though, warm it up before jumping all over the throttle.
  14. Doesn't Ande mono still have the most world records? At least I know thats what used to be their tag line. I use mono on all of my freshwater gear. If I ever had to do some flipping into heavy cover then I might use braid for freshwater. My offshore trolling reels have braid on them. My offshore casting gear has mono, jigging gear has mono with fluoro leaders. Mono is cheap and it works.
  15. You're asking for sensitive info here man! Kidding of course. The one I mainly fish in is my backyard lake. Development is called Nautica. Right behind Dolphin Bay Elementary. Just West of Dykes road on Miramar Pkwy. It's not the greatest lake in the world. Small banks with shallows, then steep drop offs into the unknown. The spraying company hasn't been around for a while though, so there is some grass and all to get into right now which should be holding fish. I need to get some electronics for the Zodiac so I can explore the bottom a little better. There is one point that almost always has fish on it with a small cove right next to it that is fairly shallow with plenty of weeds/hydrilla in it. There are tons of lakes in the area that get VERY little fishing pressure. Theres one that I've been meaning to get to for a while on the other side of 75 that is almost full of lillypads. Right over near the post office, Wendy's, and Pollo Tropical. Miramar Regional Park has some great fishing in it, docks and all got put out there for fishing. That water system snakes around for a LONG way, but is very hard to get into the back areas of it most of the time. Make sure you have your fishing license on you there though, I have been checked before. Look at the area on Google Earth, you'll see some prime fishing spots.
  16. I wish we had a real bait & tackle shop in my area that dealt primarily with bass fishing. Down here in South Florida most bait shops specialize in saltwater fishing understandably so. Usually they have a VERY limited freshwater selection in them. I can get mostly everything I need at Bass Pro, but theres the relationships you develop in the smaller stores. I've got a great relationship with my bait guy when I go out on the boat to do some offshore fishing. Asking a question in Bass Pro down here will generally get you some kind of BS answer from most of the employees. That being said, if any of you know of a good smaller shop in Broward county (southwest broward preferably) feel free to let me in on the secret.
  17. I've launched my Zodiac with a trolling motor on it in some of the lakes right off of 172nd. Theres one called the Boaters Park (I believe) just north of Pembroke, and another south near Miramar Pkwy. Both of them are loaded with fish. For the most part they are untouched lakes. Some of the residents have small boats, but I rarely if ever see them on the water. On my lake I know of a few other people with boats, but I think I've seen them on the water two or three times in the last four months.
  18. Hell, you're right down the street from me. I'm on Miramar Pkwy and 75.
  19. Why can't I ever find deals like that when I'm buying tackle...
  20. No idea. I hope it's not as bad as it seems and most of them found some deep water to hang out in. I doubt Fish and Game down here is too worried about restocking them. They weren't supposed to last here that long to start with.
  21. You know, now that I think of it...the only good thing to come out of all this cold is that I got a chance to re-spool and re-lube all of my reels, clean up my rods, and restock on some tackle. The big problem is that I've ended up at one of the two Bass Pro shops every day for like the last week just out of boredom. The cold really needs to go, it's starting to hurt my wallet as well as the fishing...
  22. Luckily I haven't seen any on my lake yet, but I'm sure that there are some in this water system. Several lakes in the area are all ajoined, so who knows. My uncle has some lakefront property as well, and he's got massive fish kills in the shallower water he has. Really stinks, his lake was some good fishing. Thank god this cold snap is starting to end. I know I can't take much more of it, I'm sure whatever fish are left alive are on their last legs.
  23. For me down here, my best all around bait is probably a Zoom Magnum Ultravibe worm in Junebug Red. Bass on my lake just seem to love them.
  24. George Welcome would be the guy to talk to.
