LOX Alert!
We caught a bunch of dinks. Water temp was down a bit. There were a bunch of boats out there today, so the area we were in may have been pounded pretty good. The guys we talked to basically were saying the same thing. Lots of smaller fish. They were eating almost anything we threw though. Was fun using all kinds of different lures.

Info needed-Planning a trip to Miami
The lake over at the airport I believe is called Blue Lagoon Lake. Something like that. I think there is some bank access, but a boat would be much better. There is a park there with a launch ramp (Antonio Maceo Park I think). There are some large fish caught in that lake. If you don't have a boat, I'm fairly sure theres some guides that will take you out on that lake. There are plenty of hotels right on the water there also. Otherwise, some of the canals will have peacocks, some won't. The small residential lakes generally will have Peacocks. Some of them have bank access, some don't. Some of the communities will chase you out of there really quickly also.

LOX Alert!
I politely informed them that the guys will be starting on Monday. If they like me paying my dues on time so much they can spend a half an hour out here making me happy for once. They came and were happy. Shot you a PM. I'm in. I can make it out there by like 2:30 or so.

LOX Alert!
Pain isn't the word. I don't need permitting of any kind for this job to get done. Pavers aren't a permanent installation, so theres no issue with that. For some stupid reason, they need to "approve" it though. As much as I like the work that they do to keep the property value up, this is just silly. I'm improving the value by extending and beautifying my backyard. Crap like this is why I've been considering buying a new house elsewhere. It's just nice having all of the schools my daughters will go to in walking distance. I'm sitting here in my living room, looking over the lake at the school they go to right now....

Info needed-Planning a trip to Miami
I won't bore you with more of the same basic info that Evrglades and Sal have probably sent you PM's about. Just make sure you check the weather beforehand. Florida bass are notorious for shutting down if the temp drops much. Usually though if the weather is stable for a couple of days they'll turn right back on. You can catch fish down here on just about anything. Thats one of the great things about fishing down here. If you want to target Peacocks, a fast moving jerkbait/slashbait like an XRap is hard to beat.

LOX Alert!
Man thats tempting. I'm sitting here waiting for somebody from my HOA to show up to approve my new patio. What a gorgeous day to be sitting here at home.....

Yeesh, Mike. You've been stroking them lately. Looks like all the big girls are coming out to play.

budget pitching rod and reel
Pitching is a casting technique. You can do it with any rod and reel. I've never used an Extreme. The PQ's are a solid reel for most situations.

To all of the sports dorks
I'll have to check that out. Didn't know Xbox had that on Live.

COD: Black Ops
A little choppy. I'm going to assume that it's primarily because the servers are getting slammed right now. No, it's not as crisp as other COD games. Everything is a little...out of focus. The sharp detail isn't there. That doesn't bother me all that much. The gameplay itself is pretty smooth. Once the lag issues get solved I won't have much to complain about. Treyarchs/Microsofts servers are getting bombarded right now from people all over the world. In another week it should be back to one section of the world primarily playing at once.

Trailers for Jigs?
Try a baby brush hog on the back of a small jig. That bitsy bug will work just fine. Pull the arms off of the brush hog and just thread it on. You may need to bite the head off of the plastic so it doesn't look too big on the jig. As far as the coontail on the bottom goes: my lake has the same problem. Jigs can get a little difficult to work through those areas. I generally use a texas rig in those areas. If it's not too thick, you can get away with a lighter weight jig that will rest on top of the goop.
-
When do you peg your T-rigged and why?
I used to peg...a lot. Now, the only time I find myself using a pegged weight is in very, very thick vegetation. Generally this is when I'm flipping directly into matted grass. On the lake that I usually fish, having a pegged weight will almost stop you from getting bit on a standard texas rig. There is a fairly thick layer of gunk on the bottom of the lake. With a sliding, unpegged sinker, the weight will fall through the gunk leaving the bait sitting on top of it.

Trailers for Jigs?
Just because you don't have craws in the area you fish, doesn't mean a bass won't eat it. Bass are opportunistic predators. They'll eat anything they think they can get inside of their mouth. Don't limit yourself to small trailers on a small jig like that. You get a much larger profile and more water displacement with a larger trailer. You'll also get a slower sink rate depending on the action of the trailer.

line wedge in opening of hook
You can have the line pop out of the eye on almost any hook. On an EWG, a Palomar will help to mitigate this. You have two wraps around the eye of the hook instead of one. It is still possible, but the chances are lessened quite a bit. Straight shank hooks with unwelded eyes used for flipping are generally the biggest problem. You're using heavy line and for the most part a pretty strong hookset. Like everybody mentioned, a Snell knot is the best way to end the problem. If you don't know how to tie it, there are numerous videos on the web of revised Snell knots that are very easy to tie.

Delaware Valley Tackle (site sponsor)
x2 From what I've heard, his servicing is top notch. As much as DVT participates on the forums, he'd have a hard time sticking around if he did crap work.

COD: Black Ops
The new battlefield on 360 is great. Getting ready to put the boat away aside from maybe one trip a month and look foward to hibernating with this game. The Vietnam expansion pack comes out soon. Epic game becomes.....epicer?

If the weather is anything like it was today, it should be absolutely freakin gorgeous out there.

Net Bait
From what I've seen, the durability is a little better than Zoom plastics. Not a major difference, but they do seem to last a bit longer. The baits I've used have less salt than most of the Zoom plastics.

Great fish right there, Mike. I love this time of the year down here.

Jerry fires Wade
I've said it once, I'll say it again; I'd love to have Miles Austin playing down here in Miami.

Game meats?
Ostrich meat is pretty good, IMO. Obviously others will have different tastes. Thats fairly exotic though. As far as fish goes, it all depends on what you have locally available. I could recommend several types of fish that are local to my area that you may not have up there.

why aliens don't exist
The best part about space is how little we actually know. To say that there definitely is or is not life out there is, well, silly. We know so little about whats outside of our planet that there is no way to call it accurately. Everybody is of course entitled to his or her own opinion on the subject. Personally, I think that there is life out there somewhere. Hopefully it's smarter than some of the idiots in our world today.....

COD: Black Ops
I may do the midnight launch. My local Gamestop is pretty organized about it. Show up at 10, get a number, and then get called in turn at midnight. Luckily my store is about two minutes away from my house. We'll see how I'm feeling later on. Lots of times it's worth it just to get some good laughs at some of the kids who show up.

Man, I love trick plays like that. Good stuff.

His recent record certainly proves that he's a decent coach.
