  1. Hey i feel your pain. I have also used the senko. I am not a big fan of it. I too have caught but one fish. I took my time on the senko as well as other stick baits. I personally do not like them. I could fish the same spot over with any other bait and get bit. I have taken my time with stick baits. I fished slow and fast nothing worked. For months they were the only baits I used. I got sick of them and just used the baits I trust. Do not fall into the bait hype. The baits that work for you are the baits you should use. I will experiment with any bait. Why use a bait that is said to work opposed to a bait you have complete confidence in? At the end of the day, it matters how many fish you caught, not the fish you were supposed to catch. Use your baits not some fad.
  2. cant wait! this is what i have been waiting for!!!!
  3. awesome outing! still looking for my "one last cast" to finally pay off.
  4. makes me want to finallly try my shaky heads
  5. looks like a pollutant like oil or something. Or maybe that bass is just special.
  6. Realize what i wrote was stupiD!!!! I put my thumb in the mouth, then my index finger outside the mouth! LOL!!!
  7. It is never time to quit! I remember I went fishing sometime in mid December. It was snowing and icy. I had just happened to have my rod in my family car. I decided to stop off at the skokie lagoons. The water is no more than 12 feet deep. I decided to use a buzzbait. The water was littered with snow. I casted my buzzbait out and wham right off the bat caught a bass. However, my family wanted to leave. Imagine the day I could have had. The only time not to fish? Perhaps maybe a nuclear armageddon.
  8. Ever since I have begun catching bass, I wondered how to lip the fish. i do it the old school kid way. However, This method is uncomfortable and I have seen photos of other guys using a different method which seems to be more effective. I hold my bass by using my thumb in the mouth and then my index finger outside the mouth . Then forming a clamp. It is unnatural and hurts after awhile, not to mention when you practice CPR. Need a better way to lip bass.
  9. what goes around comes around. you show good to others you are repaid. nice bass man. for all the work you do, that is the least the universe can do to pay you back for enriching the lives of everyone else. congratulations, you deserve it.
  10. with great fishing power comes great bass responsibility
  11. I would simply structure fish and include a jig and pig in your arsenal.

Dude, the past months I fished through my tackle box for some lures I had bought over the last year. I found one particular bait that has a good profile and caught me a lot of fish. It is a yum bait. The woolly hawg. I haven't tried that many other lures. so far bulkier baits have landed me more bass.

My addiction with bass jigs has grown a lot. However, I have been losing jigs . I have 1 jig left from Stacey king kit but I do have a lot of trailers. I was wondering if you guys preferred the jig and pig or simply pegging a weight to a trailer? Or if you are indifferent.
  14. JIG BASS!!!!!!
  15. The last fishing trips, i have been neglecting my other baits. i have only been using one. This bait has been my all time most successful. It has proven its worth numerous times and explains why so many fisherman swear by it. Also, I had caught 6 five pounders on it last month. Throughout the last two months I have only brought one bass bait with me: a jig and pig. Now not any trailer would work. I have to say the one trailer that has produced for me over others has been the yum woolly craw. Yesterday i went out to Lake Glenview in Glenview. It was about 40 degrees, my first time fishing in this temperature. This lake is notorious for screwing over fisherman. This was my first trip there in which I actually caught something. Because the shad were spawning and balling up, I knew that many of the bass would be in the deeper regions of the lake. From the looks of the birds I was right. I could see flocks of seagulls hovering over one spot. Only problem, this spot was smack in the center of the lake. I decided to go to my roots and fished bridges. I made it to the bridge and decided to pull out my go to. Casted about 20 feet out into the center of the bridge. slowly worked it back and got a hit. I reeled that fish in. He was about 17 inches not bad for the loss of my 3 fingers. Couldn't photo this fish as the weather was way to cold. Eventually this spot failed to produce, so I moved to the bridge. This time I had an audience. I chose a spot where a guy already was. Being the jerk I am, I nestled across the bridge across from him. Cast my jig under the bridge and waited. A few people were on top pf the bridge crossing over when I saw my line move. I set the hook. The crowd was getting excited as I was trying to bring that baby in. Unfortunately, he got me wrapped up around the bridge piling. Eventually I had to cut the line. The crowd left displeased as well as me. I decided to move from the spot as the other fisherman looked as he was going to lunge at me from across because I had taken his fish. I moved over to the dock area. The water was extremely clear and then dropped off into a muddy area. I could not see any structure beyond it. I set up my jig and casted it under the bridge. I failed to get a bite and was trying to recast when a jogger passed by. She stared at me when I casted my bait and it hit the side of the dock. It bounced back and hit me in the face. She giggled as this happened about 5 times. after she had left, my concentration was broken again. This elderly couple sat on the dock across from me and started making out. At this point, I'm cold, have a headache and, am disgusted by what is happening across from me. I decided to leave disgusted, injured, humiliated, and happy for the two pounder i had caught. 1 almost 2 fish in two hours isn't bad for a 40 degree day and my first time out in this weather. Got to say though, the only bait i need is any jig and a yum woolly hawg. Goodbye tackle box, hello jig case.
  16. perhaps your dealing with a school of fish. maybe you just happened to catch them a the right time. they may have moved causing you to catch little to no fish
  17. I have noticed that some guys on the site have responded to fishing baits by twitching and jerking. The terms have been thrown around rather loosely. What exactly is twitching? Is that lifting the rod tip like with a worm? What is jerking? Is that like with a fluke? I know how to fish plastics , but what is the real definition of each?
  18. I completely agree with you. That would help a lot. I guess the fun part of plastics is the fact that you have to be creative when fishing. Represents some individuality. It would be a boring world if everyone fished baits the same. You probably wouldn't have that much of a variety of baits and not that many "out there" baits like brush hogs. Different techniques=new baits
  19. Dude your catching fish, you just have to elimiante the little ones to get to the big fish. When you are skunked, you do not catch any fish.
  20. If bass weren't smart you'd never get skunked.
  21. Well we're a highschool. I dont know if colleges would have any info for high school bass fishing. Thanks for the help though.
  22. Last year was a historic moment for high school bass fishing. Illinois was the first state to declare bass fishing a sport ;D ;D ;D I am lucky enough to live in Illinois. I currently go to Northside College Prep in Chicago. I would like to get a bass fishing team started. We have the Chicago River literally running through my high school's backyard. Can anyone help me get started? I am going to contact one of the aquatic scientists at my school. I would appreciate any one's input and help on creating a bass team. I am also looking for a bass club sponsor to allow my school to use a boat or two. We can deal with equipment ourselves, but the money for boats will be a little insane. Plus, i would love the idea of coming to school with my rod and reel and fishing after classes or during my lunch period, that would be awesome. Thanks to anyone who can help!!! (I'm posting here and the Illinois section to get people's attention) PM me if you have any ideas or help. (Only if you live in Chicago and/or you are a bass club member who could be willing to help.)

I'm kinda like the guy who has to have the name brand stuff. I was looking into making my own baits, but I kinda got intimidated. I will be sure to look around more at the local shops. Thanks for the advice.
  25. Over the past few months, I have started to notice that Lake Fork tackle has been creating some awesome looking baits. Look kinda like a knockoff of the Rage tail, but they look awesome. The price is a little much. Anyone try them? Durable? Compared to any other companies? Ignore the bottom but noticed that bait companies are expanding certain lines that they have out. Wish I could try them all. ( Yum Money line is growing bigger!!!!! Money frog!!!!)
