What is it about Jigs???
You gotta fish the jig. I used it today and caught a nice bass. It is a very versatile and easy bait to use. It trains you in patience and casting. This bait will catch fish when others cannot.Overall, buy a kit from basspro and learn to fish it. Just like a worm.

First Jig Fish and First Bass of the Year
This year just has not ben the year for me fishing. I started fishing in April and was skunked pretty much all the time. I continually missed fish after fish on terrible hook sets. Today, that streak ended. I went with my grandfather and baby brother to Lake Glenview today. temps were in the 60's and it was an overcast day. My baby brother started to act up so my grandfather took him to the park which was only a little away. He took him while I continued to fish. I tried by a couple of spots and later found my way to a bridge. I casted a fluke underneath it and jerked it around (my go to bait!) I did get anything so i picked up my bait caster which was rigged with a bass jig and trailer. I casted it under the bridge around the beam holding it up. I slowly jigged it back to me and felt a pressure on the end. I pulled thinking that I was snagged in between the beam and yanked that bait out of there. To my surprise it was a bass. I pulled him in admired him and let him loose. I have had this jig for awhile and never caught anything on it. I had little to know confidence in it and barely ever used it. Now I am a believer. I fished the rest of the lake with no luck so called it a day 3 hours into it. anyway, I got my first bass. My new rule: choose one bait and fish it the entire day to master it. That way I am forced to teach myself. I have got to say, the greatest weakness of a fisherman is having too many baits. The more baits you have the more you are tempted to use them and look past the true quality baits that produce.

Skokie Lagoons: Ultimate Test of a Bass Fisherman
I have got to say, this is the most difficult water to fish to me. This lagoon is my home water and where I do a majority of my fishing. I have caught maybe 3 fish throughout my 1 year fishing career on this lagoon. I do not know if I am a horrible fisherman or the I am cursed. Most of the fisherman I know all get skunked. I went yesterday to try my luck. i have no idea if the spawn has even begun. i saw 3 fish jump and a guy in a kayak catch a bass. I again was skunked. I fished multiple areas including around a sunken tree. I caught a bass last year in that area. I used a powerworm and a fluke to fish that area. I was using a bi you buzzbait, but it snapped off when I casted. ($10.00 bait!) I moved over to an area that could be called a rip rap. saw a fish jump and used a senko to lure him out. Nothing. Pulled out a giant worm and swam it over the area. I then pulled out another buzzbait around some trees (did not have a spinnerbait). Nothing. I pretty much have all baits for all kinds of situations. i know how to use most of them. No matter what I do it takes a god to give me a fish. I was also limited on baits and only had 2 buzzbaits, plastic worms, jigs and flukes. This area make you question yourself as a fisherman. I still wonder if I should even be fishing. However, my motto is never give up. I never do, but the lagoons always get the best of me. Bass this year: 0 :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

First fishing Boat
I am looking to either buy a kayak or an inflatable polycarbon boat. I have looked at the sea eagle family and kayaks at bass pro shops. I do not want to exceed $450. The sea eagles seem affordable and reliable. The kayaks allow you to do more. Can anyone recommend any of these boats or even a brand new category? Birthday is in 2 days!

any topwater frog fishers out there
Gotta say, Banjo Minnow frogs have got to be the best. They have amazing swimming action and have long legs that vibrate against anything it touches. Got to banjominnowstore.com. Some people may say this product is a joke, but believe me all Banjo minnow products are awesome.

froggin question
its a bit rough getting into frog fishing. It can be intimidating because of snags and losing baits. I happen to use a tourney special set up. 6ft medium action rod. the reel is 6.3:1. The reel should be a high gear ratio to get that fish out fast. Many guys suggest using a huge 7ft rod heavy action. I find that using my 6 foot rod I have more control casting and have better contact with my bait. Try going to a sporting goods store if you were looking for something else. They will tell you exactly what you want. My tourney special setup only cost me $80. Great rod with strength and excellent reel. You do not have to spend a fortune on equipment. Just experiment with recommended stuff. Decide what you like best. Go to Bass Pro shops. They helped me custom design my rod and reel.

Help Using A Bass Jig
I forgot to mention one important thing: whenever I attempt to skip under docks, I always get a backlash. Is there a way that i could prevent it. I have my spool knob set. still don't see what the problem is. (Baitcaster-Tourney Special setup).

Help Using A Bass Jig
I have bas jigs. I have a Stacey king kit with jigs and trailers. I have tied these lures on and have fished structure. I have given them a chance to be fished so many times. I have never had one strike. I am usually casting the bait out and hopping it slowly on the bottom. I have read numerous articles about these baits and still cannot figure out why they are not producing. Can anyone offer a few tips or even what type of structure to fish? -appreciate any help

Sea Eagle 6,8,9
I thought sea eagle were very popular boats. also, I thought that they were pretty durable. The only issue is money. I'm under 18 and want to get something that is not too expensive. I looked at these boats a year ago, but recently forgot about them. Gotta be a reason why I saw them again.

Sea Eagle 6,8,9
My birthday is coming up and I was wondering about finally buying a boat. Now is definitely not enough time to buy a multi K boat and also space is an issue. I have had my eye on the Sea eagle company. I have been looking into these Sea Eagles: Sea Eagle 8 Sea Eagle 6 Sea eagle 9 I have tested the material and it was unbelievably strong and sturdy. Also, I wanted the boat because of its portability and easy storage. The floorboards that it comes with allow you to stand completely safe up. I am going to Ford Lake in Michigan during the summer and would like to get out on the water and fish for those big bass. I was also looking to find a good electric motor to match with it. I would appreciate replies from people who own any sea eagle products or more specifically the three above. ( Seaeagle.com) -Thank you

Polarizd Glasses?
I am looking for a pair of reliable polarized glasses that do not cost an arm or a leg. I recently had some glasses from BPS. They were Bill Dance, but they were so tinted that i would trip over things when fishing. I have looked at Wiley X but those things are expensive as well as the company that Mike Iaconelli wears. Any ideas?

Ghost fish!
It had been cold the last couple of days in wisconsin. I still have not caught my first bass of the season. I was itching to get out and set the hook on any f***ing fish. However I failed terribly was it me or a date with destiny? I was fishing in Lake Geneva today and was on a dock. I really was not expecting any fish to appear. I was hoping to just test the action of my baits and see how they acted in the water as it was clear. I was fishing a fluke when I caught something out of the corner of my eye. There was a small school of 5 bass. I immediately went to my bag and pulled out a senko. I rigged it wacky style and tossed it a bit over them then reeled it back to the fish. Not even a look at the bait. I thought senkos were bass magic. Anyway, I pulled the bait out to see if I had done something wrong. When I found that nothing was wrong, I went back over the dock. The fish were gone. Next I continued to cast under the dock as I thought they were early spawners and it was sunny out. I skipped my senko under the dock and fished it. Not even a nibble. I was so angry that I went back to my bag and see what else I could use. I put my rod down and thought about what I could do. I leaned over the dock to observe the structure. The fish were back. I pick up my rod and senko. I got back up and casted. I looked into the water and they were gone. I was only down for about 2 seconds and the fish were gone. At this point I was about to toss my rod into the water. Now I went back to my bag and pulled out a bps rattle shad. I tied it on expecting not to see the fish. They were there. i casted the shad about 20 feet from the fish then slowly brought it in. 10 feet away from the fish my parents called over to me and said we were leaving. I responded with the usual okay but did not think of anything besides hooking my first bass. I looked over and saw that the bass had once again disappeared. I was content. I looked out over the lake and saw the sunset and the calm water. I said, "nothing better than being in nature instead of being in school." In the back of my mind I said, " yeah sure, I better be in for one hell of a fish the next I go fishing." I do not know why or how those fish were constantly escaping. Perhaps I was meant to catch my first bass in legendary style: First bass of the year, fishing, no one there. It is all quiet. I am slowing twitching a fluke. All of the sudden a dark shaded is below my bait. I watch it carefully. It jumps 5 feet out of the water with my bait in the top of its mouth. I reel the slack and set the hook like mad man and yank that fish back into the water. We have an ancient fight: Man vs beast. I fight my hardest. For an hour I fight this fish. A crowd starts to gather and I can feel the adrenaline. I say time to end this and pull the fish out of the water. With my eyes wide and in awe, I hold before me a 10 pound bass on an ultralight. One heck of a dream. Or maybe I destined to not catch any bass this season. Who knows. Maybe somebody else would unlock the secret of the "Ghost Bass". From now on, no fish is leaving my sight!

Lake Geneva, WI
I am going up to lake Geneva for the week. I am not sure how the lake is. I was going to mainly fish for crappie with roadrunners. This sounds crazy as it will be snowing, but I have caught bass on a buzzbait in the dead of winter. If I can do that, I really would like to test myself in the most extreme conditions. any lake conditions so far and possibly what baits to use? . appreciate the help Good fishin! ;D
