I've read that you rig them backwards, in throught the tail and out through the head. How do you fish them? Is it a jerk pause?

I just found out that there are some monster smallies in a nearby creek. The only problem is I'm not sure if you're allowed to fish where the guy I talked to was fishing at. I went walking through the park this morning and fished a different portion of the creek with no luck. Just seeing if I could get some advice on what I might want to look for. Creek is about 30 feet across and anywhere between 1-4 ft deep on average.

The cheaper the better, but my budget is flexible *cough* tax returns *cough*. I don't really know anything about them, I've never used one before. I obviously want something that performs but I would also like to be able to figure out how to use it! Any help is appreciated

At my usual fishing whole it appears that the carp are spawning in a shallow cove, and I have been catching pretty large numbers of bass around this area. Could this be an indication that bass will spawn/are spawning in that area?

If that's the case then maybe BR should look into opening their own store on there. That way there can be an "official" shirt, and nobody has to front the money for it.

I just bought one from Gander for $29 today, and fished with it all day. They did warn me about the reel seats, but I can see how easy it is to over tighten. It wasn't what I really wanted, but my other rod mysteriously snapped when I left it in the garage last night and I needed a quick fix.

I am pretty new to fishing, and have since learned that there are many different kinds of fishing line out there. After viewing the results from the poll on which fishing line you would use in a tournament, it seems everybody has their own preference. My question is, what are the different kinds of line, and what are the pros/cons of each?

I wouldn't mind seeing GSP v Silva, but I think he will likely go up to 205. It's the most stacked division in the UFC.

I know the "power" is printed on the rod alone with lure/line ratings, but where can you find what the action of the rod is?

Thanks for the input. I've been primarily fishing flukes and texas rigged worms, just haven't had much luck so far this year. The water is still pretty cold here though, I believe it's still in the low 40's.

I fish from the shore where mostly the water is 3-5 feet, which rules out a lot of crank baits. What do you guys think I should invest in? I mostly use Zoom super flukes, and Culprit worms. I just bought some senkos. I also have a hula popper, a 1/2 oz spinnerbait, a 3/8 buzzbait, and an X-Rap (I think it's an XS-8, 3-5 foot diver). I resisted the urge to buy one of everything, decided to get some input first.

So as I'm starting to build up my tackle box, I'm wondering how everybody organizes theirs? I'm particularly interested in what people do with their crankbaits to make sure they don't forget what they are.

I wouldn't say I've earned the right to call myself a serious fisherman, but I've been fishing quite a bit lately with no intent to stop anytime soon. I am willing to spend no more than $100 on a reel, and I expect to spend 40-60 on a rod. It just seems that lots of folks use the president so naturally that was the one I was initially attracted to. Anyone ever use the president XT?

I'm looking to upgrade my fishing gear. I am just getting into bass fishing and don't know too much about equipment. I'm currently fishing a 6 1/2 foot shakespeare alpha medium action rod with a 3 ball bearing shakespeare reel, so just about anything would be an upgrade but... My two friends that I fish with both fish a medium action 6 ft lightning rod with pflueger president reels and they both love them, but I don't want to spend the money until I hear some other opinions.
