Ugly Stik For Crankin'
I'm sure this question has been asked before, I didn't turn anything up on a search though. I really want to have a cranking set up this year but I don't really have any money to buy a new rod. Do you think I could make due with an ugly stick? The action seems pretty slow to me, but I've never used an actual cranking rod so I have nothing to compare it to.

Pflueger President Spinning Reel Help
I took apart my reel today to lubricate it (first time I've ever taken apart a reel). When putting it back together, the side plate doesn't seat flush against the reel. There is a gap in the 6 oclock position. Everything is in the proper place as far as I can tell, anybody have any idea what the problem may be? I'll try and post pics soon.

How bad has your cabin fever gotten?
We had a fairly early winter in OH, I'm hoping we get an early spring. I plan on fishing pretty much every day from ice out until the end of the spawn.

Baitcaster - Am I missing out?
Ever since I bought a baitcaster, the only thing I use my spinning gear for is anything too light to throw with my baitcaster. Realistically, you could fish effectively with a cane pole...so there's nothing wrong with using spinning gear if that's what you're comfortable with. That being said, I still think everybody should give baitcasting a try. Once you learn it, it's irreplaceable in my opinion.

Very good interview. I propose the next video be a how-to on fishing over large wood piles

Braided Line
I think he's pretty passionate about FireLine, but not without good reason. I've heard nothing but good things about it, I personally have only used PowerPro, but I have since strayed away from braid.

Reel Cleaning
Abu Garcia Silver Max baitcaster and a Pflueger President spinning. I was thinking about having someone do it but I would really prefer to try and learn on my own. There is a Gander Mountain where I live, I might see if someone there will show me how to do it. They're nice guys and I'm in there all the time. And thanks for the link tbird. That was pretty much what I was looking for.

Reel Cleaning
It's pretty much the end of the fishing season for me, and I would like to give my reels a good cleaning before I put them away for the winter. I have never taken apart a baitcaster and I'm a little hesitant about just jumping into it. I've searched up and down for videos with no luck. Can anyone refer me to a video, or an article that will help me out? I also don't have a schematic however I could probably find that online. What constitutes a good cleaning?

Worm/Jig Rod Question
I'm looking to upgrade my set up for next year, I mostly fish soft plastics and right now I'm using an Abu Garcia Silver Max and a Berkely Lightning Rod. I'm pretty decided on a Revo STX but I'm still undecided on the rod. My main question is what do you prefer as far as power goes for a jig/worm rod? It seems a lot of people use MH. I like to throw heavy jigs, but as far as plastics go I hardly use anything over 1/8 oz bullet weight and on a 6" worm I don't think that falls into the lower range of lure ratings on a MH.

Stung by a catfish, cured by his bellie
I always get it when I'm trying to dig out a buried hook of the small bulls, I really haven't gotten it that bad though. If I ever do I'll be sure to give this a try.

Copperheads
The problem with copperheads is that it's not the ones you see you have to worry about. It's the ones you practically step on and you don't even know they're there until you're bit.

Worm/Jig Rod Question
I think I already know the answer to this question but, when you talk about a worm rod does that include soft plastics in general or do people like having a worm specific set up for some reason?

Braided.........Mono..........Fluro???
I recently switched to P-Line CXX 12 lb. At first I had lots of managability issues, but now that I've fished it a few times they have gone away. I highly recommend it. I think it's the best of all worlds. It's strong, sensitive, and abrasion resistant at very good price compared to flouro and braid. The only thing I think I will ever use braid for is jerkbaits. I believe the smaller diameters create better presentation.

Twitching and Jerking?
I would say imagine using a normal sized hula popper. If you twitch it it shouldn't pop. If you jerk it, it should.

Zoom Super Salty Fluke
I highly recommend them. I have the best luck with watermelon seed and smokin' shad colors. I prefer to fish them weightless, but if it's windy I'll use an 1/8 ounce bullet. I cast them out, let them sink to the bottom, and pop it off the bottom once about every 5-20 seconds depending on what seems to be working.

Line Guide Wear
I hear a lot of people talk about line guides wearing out. How do you check for wear?

Lure Selection
I've been fishing a different pond for the last month or so with very limited success. I fish senko's, flukes in watermelon seed and shad color, and red culprit worms most often. I talked to somebody who fishes there regularly who told me that chartreuse spinnerbaits are consistently productive. I am aware that the bite changes often, I'm just wondering if there's anything that would be good to follow the spinnerbait up with since what I have isn't working.

Catching fish in small ponds
There's not much in the way of cover. It's about 15 feet deep and it's a fairly steep grade and there is also a small island in the middle. The pond is hardly ever fished. I did not try a weightless worm, but I did try a weightless senko. I also was going to try a shaky head but we ended up leaving before I got around to it. Would that rig be effective in 15 feet of water? The water also has blue dye in it, so the water is fairly stained (about 2 feet of visibility).
