  1. Well unfortunately, I dont know of anywhere locally that I can handle a Kistler, or Powell, or any other rod not sold at BPS. :'( I dont expect to find anything as lite as the carrot, but would like to find something close. I also have a 7'6" Mojo, and it feels like I am picking up a steel rod, after fishing the Carrot Stick.
  2. X2! I would suggest the Citica or the Revo S If you go cheap you might see more frustrations than benefits, and then you will give up! Set your brakes tight, and be prepared for some messes your first couple of outings. Be patient though, it is worth it!
  3. So, right before the carrot stix bashing thread got closed, I asked to give me a rod in that price range that is as lite and sensitive. Well I am actually in the market for a new rod. Something around 7' MH. I would like to find something at least close to the carrot in weight. This is an honest question, I have two carrot stix, and want to try something else. I have never handled a powell, or kistler, or other rods like that. Is there something for around $200 that is close to the carrot in weight?
  4. I have two of them, and couldnt be happier with them. Wish they were a little stiffer, but other than that I love them. I would challenge someone to find me a rod in that price range that is near as lite or sensitive.
  5. Give it a try on a shakey head
  6. I am kind of having Deja Vu here, but yes KVD line conditioner works as advertised on ALL lines.

I have been on that site 100's of times, even made quite a few orders from there, and I never noticed that about the mega strike. Learn something new everyday.

Venom contain Megastrike - give them a try. I did not know that Venom contained MegaStrike

X3 on the venom, but these are my favorites! http://www.hookedupbait.com/
  10. To each their own I guess
  11. Hands down, no questions asked.......worst line that I have ever used. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from it!
  12. Ditto! They did have a issue when it first came out, but they have long fixed it and Vicious is all I use now when it comes to Flouro. There Ultimate Co-Poly is also some real good line. I must have gotten ahold of a spool right after it came out, because my experience with it was WAY less than pleasent. I will NEVER buy Vicious again, which sucks, because I really wanted to like it. Worst line I have EVER used though! I go back and forth between the BPS, and Seagur 100% Invizx.
  13. I dont use a mono/floro backing, but most people here will tell you that they do. The key is to make sure that you keep a lot of tension on the line while spooling. Slipping is the main concern with braid, and I have never had a problem, but I think you will find I am in the minority here for not using a backing of some type. As far as knot goes, I tie a polymar, but at the end you HAVE to just make another loop which will keep the knot from slipping.
  14. I live in Dayton, and actually fish the GMR on a regular basis. I catch 90% of my fish on a tube. Buy yourself some green pumpkin tubes, a jar of chartuese dye, and a jar of orange dye. I use SpikeIt, but dont tell anybody or I might get banned from this site. Start with just Texas Rigging(Make sure you are using extra wide gap hooks to get through the meaty tube) straight green pumpkin, and if no luck try to dip the tails in Charteuse first, and then orange if they are not hitting the teuce. Another little tip, is as in any river or stream, make sure if possible to always cast on the upstream side of whatever structure you are fishing. This allows the bait to come bouncing downstream in a much more natural apperance. Check out this site as well. http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=8 Lots of guys on here fishing the GMR on a regular basis. You could probably even find someone that lives close to you to go out and do a little fishing with you. Good Luck!

Let me start by saying that I consider myself an above average bass fisherman, been doing it most of my life, not about to join the Elite series, but am usually up on the current trends. With that said I am curious for any info that you guys can give me about the "swim jig" technique? I really am just looking for info on how you retrieve it. Do you literally throw it out, and bring it in? Just seems to go against everything that I know about jig fishing. Again, I consider myself a good fisherman, and it is killing me that their is a technique out there that I know NOTHING about, which makes me want to learn it and add it to my arsenal, so any info that you guys can provide would be appreciated!
  17. I have only been out with a guide once. His name was James Niggemeyer, who is now an Elite series pro. It was absolutely worth every penny. We didn't catch a ton of fish that day, but the things he showed me about reading a depth finder, and what to look for to locate fish in deep water was priceless!
  18. Just wanted to give a heads up, that anybody that lives around Dayton/Cincinnati area looking to buy a Carrot Stix should head to Dixie Marine. Not sure how they do it but they are the cheapest place I have seen. Regular LTX: $129.99 Gold Series: $169.99 Duckett Classic Gold:$209.99 Wish I would have seen these before buying two from BPS. :'(
  19. Don't know if its true or not, but I have heard that the coffee smell doesn't necessarily attract fish, but masks any human scent.
  20. I was in my local(Cincinnati) BPS yesterday and they were onsale in store as well.
  21. Wow, thats the first time I have seen the Thermacell, pretty cool! Do they actually work, and if so, how much area do they cover?
  22. So I have a tournament at a lake this weekend that is notorious for mosquitos. I know we will be sitting there for a good 20 minutes before launch getting ate up, but I dont really like spraying bug spray on when I am getting ready to fish. What do you guys do? Do you just suck it up and get bit, do you have a certain brand of bug spray that you use or what?
  23. There was one Wlamart here locally that I have bought 3 Revo S for $80. They also sell the reel online for I think $99
