I have fished cranks for years with braid with no problems. You don't have to rip their lips off when you set the hook , just a small snap of the wrist and the braid does the rest. Try it ,you might like it.

Personel preferance issue. Impossible to answer . Any rod in the 100-300 dollar range qualifies and there are a lot of great rods out there. 6'6" med/hvy , fast action is a good all around rod , pick your brand.

Don't know where you're coming from but there are all kinds of white plastics on the market.

If I were going to go with one brand , it wouldn't be Skeet's brand.As a matter of fact , I wouldn't go to just one brand of rod's/reels at all but that's me.
