  1. it hurts my # of bites of my crawfish imitating baits IMHO
  2. Fly fishing for bass has been a bit of a hot topic lately here, So what are your favorite bass fishing flies? Personally i like, white bream poopers and clouser minnows
  3. x2 Red, me and you think an awful lot alike. I especially hate the little league parents/or coaches. who yell at the kids taking the fun out of everything. the dads who expect their son to get everyball and never strike out. it takes the fun out of it.
  4. i couldnt be happier with the lews line...
  5. the baby bass mag super fluke in the back. white superfluke jr in the front. it will never work
  6. Do you believe the biggest females spawn first? In what i have observed they do. Not only bass but also crappie and bluegill. Im not talking about pre-spawn feeding either, Hut definite fish on beds. 2 out of my 3 "big" bass (only one of those two even landed ) Have been bedding fish earlier than i would have ever thought. Mid march in south arkansas and mid march in Memphis. As with crappie. it always seems like they bigger females spawn first and then smaller females move in later. Does anyone else agree with this? observed this?
  7. 'How are you keeping your shadilicious from ripping. mine rip right where the hooks go in. ive switched over to big hammers and like them alot more. except theres no where in memphis that carries them. and i still have a bunch of shadilicious
  8. look into artic fox hair.. very good mixture between marbou and bucktail
  9. shakeyhead with a roboworm or trickworm
  10. i havent had much lake on that lake since june and july.caught em patrolling the edges of bream beds Has the grass died back? Might have to make a trip out there. I dont know if you fly fish, but its always good to have a flyrod with you there. topwater poppers on the weededge in the summer were good to me as far as numbers but poor for size. clouser minnows in front of all the inflow pipes were decent by far the best were elaztech flaoting worms in watermelon on a light weight c rig. kept it above the grass. short drags. long pauses. good size but the size cut off at 5. only one over 5. never can get much on moving type baits there,
  11. i like to trim them shorter except for about 3 or four strands. For Example: If i were using a black and blue jig i would trim all except one group of 3-4 blue and only blue strands. I like the strands all next to each other so they leave like a streak. On a different note. Look into tying so.me type of flash or fish hair or tinsel into your swim jigs or even better. if youre tying a mostly white swim jig(like you were fishing this summer). In the center of the jig before you surround it with skirt material. try a silver flash core thats about 2 inches longer than your skirt. leaving a tail flash effect. Just a thought.
  12. growing up in memphis, I didnt realize pople didnt own homes without air conditioners I thought if you had running water you would have air conditioners.
  13. just dont start tying trout and crappie jigs. you think its addicting now?...just wait. youll tie jigs more than you fish. Great stress reliever
  14. great rod and reel and bait choice. you might consider 8 lb mono.. it wil increase your casting distance alot with the weightless or lightly weighted baits.. suffix seige in smoke green is a favorite of mine but most lines will perform just fine. just steer away from eagle claw and cajun redline.
  15. thats a nice brown. the picture doesnt do it justice. i caught my pb that was 28 inches and didnt get a good picture. was so excited i covered half the fish with my arm and hand.

do you realize how small a half inch is? are you catchig minnows?
  17. still have never picked up a crappie there. you catchin those down river?
  18. the one i hooked up with saturday was about 200 yds below the dam out in the middle of the current on the bottom. was dragging the bottom slowly and felt my bait start shaking then a thump. B) made that drift(dam to first powerlines) 5 more times and only caught a few drum.
  19. very well written and informative
  20. that looks like cville grass to me. and you were using braid, so a jig and rage craw ?
  21. yesterday was good. much better than tuesday as far as numbers. we caught a few smallies so im sure that means RW caught 30-40  caught some spots, largemouth, whitebass, bream, and a bunch of drum including my PB at 15 lbs :P they didnt seem to be on fire but river wasnt really that busy. didnt get on the water until 10ish due to the fog. lots of fun. thanks for introducing me and helping me learn this RW, its helped me spend alot of time with my dad.
  22. do your stripers ever jump? i caught a 5 lb striper that jumped more than the smallmouth i was catching today. 4 times in a short fight
  23. oh and marked alot of fish around 3 feet deep in 12-15 ft and think they could have been smallies. saw a few smallies jump clear out of the water. can you say topwater bite?
  24. live shiners. out in the channel. thought i was hung up until i felt the head shake. thought it was a big cat because it hugged the bottom for 4 minutes after that. then shot up like a rocket. my dad was on the phone with his biggest client so i had to net the fish alone cant believe i got it in. when i went to put a minnow onto my rig after i released the fish the hook fell off. lucky i guess. i tried a little bit of everywhere. messed around mostly after the big fish. made the drift from the lock to the second power lines on that side and drift from the botel to the powerlines with only that one fish caught. a couple more loss. unknown type. then tried the current seam right against the dam where the water gets let out and thats where dad lost a striper and i started chunking a crank and had a few follows and bites from white bass or stripers. then drifted over to that area with three deadmans over by the lock. that catfish were thick by the only concrete one. other boats catching too.but we were bass fishing not catfishing so we drifted from the botel to the powerlines again without a nibble. Didnt see many fish caught overall. saw one bass boat working the bank right under the first powerlines. lots of cat fisherman
  25. the fishing was horribly awesome. caught my new pb smallie at a fat 4 lbs. and a 6 lb blue cat. lost a nice striper and a few more bass on the way in. fished 930 -1 .im still pumped over my 4 lb. smallie
