  1. Thank you for the advice guys. I will use it.
  2. I am going to take Bobby to his word on this. I have ordered a 6.6MH Baitcasting rod from him. From what he described to me on the phone, it has near perfect balance, is light weight and simply a great rod. He compares them to the St Croix that he has and says that he likes these better.
  3. That is "THE" question. WRB, this should be a topic by itself. I look forward to reading the replies to this one.
  4. X2. LOL. You would not need a tackle box either. Just hang all your baits around the edges of the hat, look up and grab what you want.
  5. I am going to fish Lake Weiss for LM and Spotted bass this weekend. I have never fished the lake. Can anyone give me any tips on how to fish this lake this time of the year? Thanks, JB
  6. I agree. I plan on entering it next year and I am looking forward to it.
  7. DDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! Way to go LBH! WOW!
  8. Bingo. This statement hits the nail on the head. If you do not like what is recorded in our current history of fishing, too bad. Please stop complaining about what is in the past and done. Instead, focus on catching the new record so that you can have it documented by today's standards. Then we will have somebody new to pick on.
  9. Plastics and cranks. Having a good time just fishing, enough so that I got the "I am feeling neglected" speech from the wife today because of how much fun I have been having away at the water.
  10. Freshwater: 24 3/4" LM that was 8 lbs. Caught her using a Black, orange and white 1/2oz Little George. Saltwater: 71" Barracuda that was 67 lbs.
  11. I suffer from a lot of the same weaknesses as you. Being that I am not a pro, I also do not fully understand fish movements and habbits. Though, I doubt that any of us ever will fully understand them. If I sense a weakness I try to overcome it by studing it and trying what I have learned. I do not have a boat so I know nothing about the electronics side of the battle. I am just getting into jigs and how to use them effectively. But I think my biggest weakness is not being able to "not" go fishing and do other things that need to be done.
  12. This worked great RW. I tried it this past Saturday and in the first 2 hours I landed 3 lm in the 3-4 pound range, a 7 pounder and a few greedy lil crappies (have not had those bite plastics before). Thanks again.
  13. X2 I could not agree more. Now I would be more than happy to have the big fish only day but I tend to enjoy watching my kids bring em in. Watching the expresions on my kids faces when they hook one and pull it in is better than anything else in my book. I will gladly take the memories of the many smiles on their faces over the one smile on my face when I catch the big fish (but I still would like to catch her anyways).
  14. I had the most fun with my kids while brim fishing with fly rods over the fish beds. We lost count after 35 or so of non stop fish hitting the flys as they hit the water. My kids thought it was the greatest thing, catching them like crazy we were.
  15. After living in a house with a wife, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 5 kids. I fully agree with the needing it to keep my sanity thing.
  16. Work first (bills to pay, fishing materials to buy), kids second (Fishing second when fishing with the kids), FISHING THIRD, wife last . No, seriously....Kids and wife come first, fishing any other timer that is available. Work is only a necessity.
  17. Home made turkey, bacon, cheese, letuce, and tomato sandwich in my mouth while waiting on that monster catfish to grab my line and nightcrawler is my favorite.
  18. I agree. Anytime is good so long as it is not dangerous weather. I went out last night, fishing from shore (fisrt time night fishing) and just after dark I pulled in a 6# that hit my rat-l-trap not 4 feet from shore while it was raining. Friday sounds good, go for it.
  19. Thank you guys. That is why we were thinking very early in the morning. The owner of the boat lives on the lake and said most holiday people wont be out there until about 10:30am if like the past years. But we will look at some other locations also.
  20. I am looking at possibly going out on Lake Lanier early Monday morning, if weather allows. What baits are the fish biting? What areas and what should I look for? I have never fished from a boat on this lake and I am looking forward to it. Any tips and tricks would be helpful. Thanks, JB
