  1. It seems to me that a lot of people are not bidding on the mimics either. I am waiting on 5 rattletrap mimics that I won for 99 cents ($10 shipping though). I figured I would give them a try.
  2. Mattlures told me that one of his tricks for this lure is to cast it out and let it sit for up to 20 minutes and then start your retrieve. The waves, or the current will make the fish swim a little to appear like it is a fish just sunning itself. I guess this gets the big ones interested in the bait and when it starts to move away, they go after it. He said that if it is jerked it will do a kind of walk the dog action. If anyone should know how to use this lure, I feel that he does. I plan on giving this method a try.
  3. I got my male bluegill Hardgill today. I almost called in sick at work to go give it a try but unfortunately I have to work to make up for ordering the bait. The bait looks great. I am planning on testing it in a 60yr old, not so well known rock quarry in my area. I have seen some very, very big bass swimming around in the crystal clear water and I have been wanting to fish it. I wanted something that looked very realistic to use in that clear water and this bait is it. I will be happy to give a report about it once I have tried it out. BTW, thanks for the great work and promt shipping Mattlures.
  4. I tend to see it as a form of exercise. I also have lost an inch or two this year by shore fishing. When I am having fun, I guess I do not realize just how much walking I am doing but now that I look back at it...quite a bit.

    Very nice fish.
  6. Great collection of pics. What did you catch the dog on?
  7. Glad to hear that your brother did so well. I am also glad to hear a positve attitude out of you for him. Sometimes there is nothing better than just what you said, "cool to watch someone succeed in something you started them off in". I love watching my kids catch the fish. Seeing them enjoy it is the best feeling in the world.
  8. I am glad to here that your day turned up so good. It sounds like it was a great time.

I have quite a few of those and I still use them. I have caught many bass on those baits. I love to use them in shallow or over thick submerged weeds. I have had the best luck with the crome ones. It is something that the fish don't see every day now days. I also think that they are a great addition to an antique lure collection.
  10. I remember my grandfather doing something like that down in Mobile, AL when I was a kid. He used to fish a bait and attach a peice of redman chew on as a trailer. He used to catch quite a few fish on those rigs. I also remember him giving me a peice to chew, at the age of 8yrs, that was twice as strong as it should have been. I remember chumming the water for him shortly after.
  11. I can fully understand the way you see it. For me, if I spend a day at the water (whether I catch anything or not) I go home in a much more relaxed mood. It is one of the few places I can be me, think like me and do what I want to do. I feel like the everyday stress of life is temporarily removed from my shoulders. For me it is a fun thing to do. I think that if something is fun for a person to do, even if it is hard labor, it is generally relaxing to that person in many ways. So yes, I would have to say it is relaxing for me.
  12. The bait monkey stikes again. He just got me while I was looking around mattlures web site. bah.
  13. I wonder sometimes if they make all these different kinds of lures in order to "catch us" at the register and not so much to catch the fish. :-?
  14. That is a nice example of a large mouth bass.
  15. I agree with most on the fact that the fish seem to get very active right before the storm and are pretty active right after. I will fish in the rain anytime I can. I have had great luck using topwater and plastics during the rain. As for the lightning, I do not know, when I see the first blast I am out of there.
  16. Tackle warehouse has it as 440 yards for $9.99. http://www.***.com/descpageLNETRIPFISH-TFXRL.html
  17. It was a fun trip. We caught quite a few bass. I see what one of you meant by a shallow lake. The scenery was awesome and it is a good thing that I was warned about breaking off on the rocks. Thanks for all of the advice guys.
  18. As a person that does not own a boat, I would be as happy as a large bass with a brim in its mouth to sit in the back of a boat fishing. I would love the opportunity to watch, learn and fish. I could care less where I sat: front, back, middle or in a tube behind the boat so long as I can be there to enjoy it. Be happy that you are in a boat fishing and stop sweating in the back seat. Try to enjoy it no matter what. The guy in the front has the ability to fish right and left sides as well as the front. The guy in the back has the ability to fish right and left sides as well as the back. Remember that sometimes it takes many cast to the same area to get a fish to bite. Throw to the same area that the guy in front just did as well as all around you. Don't worry about him getting all the good spots first. The sopts will still be there when you get to them (so long as he didnt scare every fish out of there when he caught the big one first ).

  20. The kids and I went out last evening, just before dark. We had great luck using rattle traps, poppers and torpedos. In 1.5 hours we caught 5 2 -3 pounders on poppers, 1 5-6 pounder and a small crappie on the rattle trap and quite a few .5 to 2 pounders on the torpedos. We also had some good luck with some good ole beetle spins. Nothing else that we tried was working to well.
  21. We hung'em good or, didn't catch ****.
  22. I had the same problem with the site today. I finally gave Bobby a call and he placed the order for me. I will tell you what guys, he seems to really like these rods. From what he told me about them, I think I will also. They sound like a great buy.
  23. Offering to add some Georgia MOJO to it if I can get my hands on it.
