  1. WestCoast, for what it's worth, I picked up a new Curado 100DSV back in March, was comparing to the Citica. I love the Curado, but after careful thought, other than color & handle, the Citica was just as smooth. Could have nearly bought 2 Citicas for the one Curado. Really, the new Citicas are great reels.

Deb, those are some BEAUTIFUL fish. Congrats! I've got tons of relatives in KY & have been wanting to get up there to do some fishin'. Hopefully one day.
  3. Thanks guys, yea It seems like a great deal. I got the 1500 & paired it with a PS60LF Premier, going to be using this setup for trout, panfish & occassional smallie.
  4. Hey thanks everybody. I think I'm going to try all of the suggestions & see what happens - even the trailers. Again, great forum, thanks! ;D
  5. Hey guys, I just picked up senkos on sale & decided to also try a bag of yamamoto double tail grubs. Now, I guess I could use these as a trailer on spinners, but I don't use trailers. Any other suggestions on how to fish these grubs? thanks!
  6. Glad to see the forums back. I just needed to replace a spinning reel, and came across this deal at Dick's sporting goods (don't normally shop there) that I thought was too good to pass up. In Georgia (if not nationally) Dicks have the Shimano Symetre on sale for 69.95. If you pick up a 2006/2007 Georgia DNR fishing guide, which is free, it has a $10 coupon for Dicks. Picked this gem up for 59.95. A good deal, I hope.
  7. The older post of using a Zebco 33 intrigues me, only in the sense what could you buy, ONLY using a baitcasting rig to catch crappie, bluegill, smaller trout. Raul, with his wisdom addressed the spincasting issues, but could someone please tell me what kind of BC rig I could get for this kind of fishing. No, I don't want to using spinning gear.
  8. Natural, Raul, you guys are just sick, really sick. ;D
  9. Muddy, I don't even know you, yet I know I like ya! Forget what everyone said. You got the reel you want and that's all that matters ultimately. I think Pflueger makes a great product. Not a thing wrong with them. I bought what I bought, because it was what I wanted at the time. You bought what YOU bought because you knew what you wanted. I'm glad for ya. Wish you were down in the south & we could hit a lake! In any event, furget it. God bless ya & enjoy that new reel.
  10. Raul is the expert, but I bought a 100 DSV & never found weight the issue. I love this reel. Strong, reliable, smooth beyond belief, but not heavy. BUT, it (with my medium-large size hands) is not easily palmed. I can't say it's better than the old version as I never owned the older version but have read alot about it. The new Curado, to me, is truly great. I don't see how you can go wrong ever buying a new Curado.
  11. When I bought my last reel, I also considered a Revo STX. Great looking reel, smooth, but decided to go with the Curado. The Revo hasn't been out all that long, personally for me, I will look at it again in 6mo-1yr to see how they are holding up. I bought the 100 dsv & absolutely love it. Roadwarrior is right, shimanos are ridiculously smooth. I can see using this reel 10 yrs+ from now.
  12. Thanks for the info, ReelMech. I'm guessing fast action tip equates to a soft tip?
  13. I'm having trouble deciding what rod to use for fishing with senko's and other small plastics. Not sure if a soft tip or a rod with a stiff tip gives an advantage and I'm wondering what you guys use for this. Thanks! :-/
  14. I like BPS, but I live on the Northwest suburbs of Atlanta, and it's an hour+ to get there. I found out a small store in Jasper (a little closer to me) sells tons of great stuff - about 75% of what BPS has & the customer service is really good, so I spend the $$ a little closer to home.
  15. Just one, a new curado 100dsv. Like it alot, great reel. Man, I've only bought 3 setups in the last few months and the wife slips me the 'jaundiced eye'. If I had 35 reels, I'd be sleeping in my truck.
  16. Congrats, Muddy, that's a fine reel. RW, that was a very generous gesture. Enjoy it.
  17. I think the fuego is a great reel: nice & light, can toss lighter stuff as well as the larger spinners. I think mine may have set on a shelf for a good while, so I'm going to get ready to send it to ReelMech for servicing.
  18. I've got to agree with Raul. Unless you're hot for a new stick now, I'd save & get an Avid or a GL2. Both excellent rods you'll use for many, many years. If you've got to get something now, shop 'em, falcon, fenwick, Bionic blades, etc. I saved up $1100 for my baitcaster gear I just bought & felt I got what I wanted just by doing that. Sorry to hear about the curado, I hope it can be repaired. Check with ReelMech, he's the man for the job.
  19. A curado 100 DSV would work very well for cranks as well, not quite as sure for finesse work. I just bought one a few days ago & love it alot. But, that said, I'll try some finesse/plastics on it just to satisfy my curiosity, but expect I'll rely on my TD fuego for that type of work. If your looking for a true 'all purpose' reel like this, the 100 D might be a better choice. If you want line capacity, the 100 DSV is it. Of course, I defer to Raul, Ronnie, Roadwarrior among many others who know finesse fishing better than me.
  20. Just my observations, as I bought a curado 100dsv a couple of days ago. I can't compare it to a zillion (couldn't even find one when I bought a fuego), but comparing it to my fuego, it's just different. Very smooth, casts beautifully, easy to set up & well made. Most of the same qualities applies to the fuego as well, but they're different, where the daiwa feels a little more precise versus smooth. Go try them both (or buy both- you'd use 'em)!
  21. Not just the premier's, all SC's are 1 power up. My AC66MF Avid is as stiff as the MH 783C loomis I bought. Why SC does this, I don't know, but the premier is a fine rod. Enjoy it.
  22. Thanks, Raul. As usual, the information here is always helpful. I spooled it up & took it out for practice casts. Casts wonderful, for whatever reason, I cast a lot further with better accuracy with this reel. I have to sit & figure that out! But, the curado is a keeper, really like it. I'm going to use it primary for spinners, but (against the advice of Bill, a great guy who spent alot of time explaining the differences of the reels I was looking at), senkos & small lizards as well. Those might be too light, but don't know. Any insight/experience is welcome Thanks!!!
  23. Thanks, guys, for the info. I spooled it up today with Yozuri Ultra soft 12lb, seems much tighter. Going to practice casting her today & fish her tommorrow. Think I'll be happy with it, hope so anyway.
  24. Well, I picked up another ac66mf Avid, and had a lonely rod. Decided to look at all reel options. Settled on a Curado 100 DSV. Has more play in the handle, after adjustment, than I thought it would. Feels great, but not being a shimano man, I don't know, just not 'tight'. Do shimanos really feel that different from Daiwa's once they are set up? Is this normal? Should I return & replace? Going fishing Wednesday & would love to take this (or replacement) out. Help! Thanks! Mitch :-?
