  1. If it is slightly/barely used, $200 is a good price for a phenomenal rod. Fast action, sc4 graphite, beautifully made, great for senkos & fat ikas. I can't say how different from a crucial it is, never fished a crucial. For two bills, I'd go for it.
  2. Excellent article, Micro, and comprehensive as well. I've been looking at a Soron as possible purchase (will be buying a 2500 size/type reel), but still not sure. Really want a Certate, but the price........
  3. Welcome! This a great site and a great source of information.
  4. I've never loaded filler on a reel, so I have to ask why? Save the good line for what you feel you'll use? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, but I've never heard of doing this. Sounds interesting.
  5. [sure; most likely they'd get leftovers. They could choose from Greenish Meatloaf, some slightly 'gooey' stuff that might have been chili and some ketchup with an expiration date some time during the Reagan administration. If they were too proud for that, I'd say no.] ;D ;D
  6. I just picked up a couple of Rebel Floaters (walmart - $2/each), and they look nice, but no weight on the package (I'm thinking a 1/4oz), and nothing on the packaging regarding depth to fish. Ever hear of or fish them? Thanks!
  7. I'm just curious - If someone knocked on your door, and said they were hungry, would you feed them?
  8. Don't sweat it Muddy, I use avast & had 10 updates today & 7 yesterday. There's a big rash of viruses/spyware recently hitting the 'net.
  9. "No, but we have a "Shimano Posse" and some call me the Sheriff." Ok. Turn in the badge & go pick up a shimano Q&A manual. ;D
  10. Hey, for all I know, it may be a common occurrence, I don't know. "I don't recall ever hearing a complaint about the new FI, here or anywhere else. " Read more. BTW, you on the shimano payroll?
  11. I read about stradic complaints from here and TT, as well as some other smaller bass forums. RW, why so defensive? I would think shimano could spit out some bad product just as easily as daiwa or pflueger. It, to me, is a nature of the game. Possibly more people become vocal when a reel like a stradic doesn't meet their expectations or is proven to be defective. Stuff happens. No company has a QA that is 100% effective.
  12. RW, I don't know. Both of my GL2's had the tags on them & each tag said 'components made in USA, assembled in China', so made in china?
  13. I've been saving for a 2500 size reel, but I keep reading posts, here & elsewhere of people having problems with the new stradic. Don't care what ICAST says, think I'll look elsewhere.
  14. Can't speak for the balance of the line, but GL2's (I previously owned 2) are made in china.
  15. Muddy, if you are in the 'low rent district', then I'm in the ghetto Everything: Daiwa Procaster 100H on a 6'6 Bionic Blade Shimano Symetre 1500 on a 6' StC Premier Flooger Trion GX7 on an older 6'6 Cherrywood graphite Plus on Okuma stratus as a back up. That's it, nothing here to see. I will be saving for a new 2500 series Spinning Reel & 7' or longer rod for this year.
  16. Natural, have you dumped the new citicas already? :-?
  17. What skills are you updating?
  18. I get what I would call a loose wiggle/wobble with DT-6, but it is tighter with a DT-4. Why that is, I don't know, I fish them the same. That said, I like the difference.
  19. Excellent suggestion by Muddy. I think you can trust opinions from RW, Fletchero, Marty, Muddy among other old-timers here on equipment. My experience has been with a Symetre 1500, great smooth reel, will last me a long time. I also use a Flooger Trion, and love it. Not quite as smooth, but nice & well built for what it cost. Also have an older Okuma Stratus (a Dick's sporting good special), that's been beaten to death, but won't die. Still as smooth as the Symetre.
  20. Black eyed peas with ham, Collard greens, grilled chicken thighs and a pan of cornbread with cheese and jalapenos.
  21. Did he leave again? Haven't seen anything from the old man. :-/
  22. Muddy, that's what a shimano is for! Why am I still up?
  23. Burley, get some glasses. It was a beautiful reel, great spool, wonderful accents. It would make a great addition to what you already have.
  24. Apparently, everyone in my family failed to remember I like to fish, so I went out and got: DT4 3 Bomber (2 Fat A, 1 Model A) Bandit Fat Free Shad Got all 5 for $20. Got a sale at the tackle shop going on (not BPS or Dicks).
  25. Doggone it, Muddy, you went and muddied-up (pun duly intended) the whole picture. I have a Symetre 1500, my only shimano & love it. Also have a Trion GX-7 and love it. Shimano's, especially on sale are great. As are Pfluegers.
