  1. Let's pump on the brakes, my words are starting to get taken out of context. Being from MN, I have not had the opportunity to meet these gentleman and so the opinions I have of them are SOLELY based off the impressions I have gathered from TV viewing. I never once said I did not like them as individuals, I just feel like they're over the top personalities ON TV, and that to me becomes obnoxious...I am sure they are great individuals when they are not being filmed, but again I cannot personally attest to that.
  2. Watch the power pole slam at the link below and that is all you will need to see. http://www.bassmaste...ries-full-shows I know that the fresh wave of "personalities" are more popular with the younger generation, but I just cannot stand the over the top pretentious attitudes that Ike and Ish have. I have always grown up being taught to be confident, but not cocky, and that is why both of these guys to me act like children.
  3. The bigger question is, who do you find more obnoxious, Charlie Moore, Ike, or Ish?
  4. I am assuming that you didn't twist the bait all the way in because of the size of the hook, but the fluke is not going to stay on there very long and might rip more easily. I would buy 2/0 hooks for the baby flukes and purchase fluke jrs. for the 3/0 hooks.
  5. My favorite spring time crank is an SR5 in perch.
  6. I am a little different than most and prefer to throw the lightest weight I can get away with - 1/4 -3/8 oz in shallow cover.
  7. Might be the first weekend in June. Maybe Bassin Noob can chime in on Tonka and how it's fishing now.
  8. To me it doesn't get much better than Seaguer Invisx #15 flouro on my jig rod. I would the sentsitivity and the strength that you get out of this line. I have never had a need to beef up this line because I have never broken off a fish since I started using this line 2 years ago.
  9. Not often, but sometimes I had some chartreause with a pen to add some flair.
  10. Hahah I will admit I went swimming my first time out in the boat.
  11. That's awesome man. Just bought a boat myself and you cannot put a price and getting out on the lake. What did you end up getting?
  12. I've always been meaning to try out that stanley double hook, so this might be a good time. I did try the weighted swimbait and that helped out a lot, so thanks for the suggestions.
  13. MN Bassin' nOOb and Buzzbaitin, Lets get out in the next few weeks. You guys pick the lake and I'll bring the boat.
  14. 3" Chigger craws or paca chunk work great!

What type of forage do you have in your lakes?
  16. Welcome! Post questions in this thread and one of us will make sure to get back to you. Where specifically are you from?
  17. What other ways are there to fish a spook? Do you mean a faster retrieve vs more subtle?
  18. For years I have thrown frogs the same way, but I am curious to how you prevent your frog from rolling. I throw my frogs on 50+ lb braid with a gammy 3/0 EWG superline hook, and tie a palomar knot, but when I retrieve, the frog just rolls. So again, what you do to prevent this?
  19. Use mono and tie a loop knot.
  20. Craw, swimbait, curly tail grub...just throw something on there with a lot of action - you can't really mess it up. Make sure you are matching the trailer with the jig. I strictly throw NorthStar Custom Baits Swim Jigs. They not have are the best as far as durability, but the skirt colors and paint jobs are amazing, and Chris backs up his products with great customer service. As far as sizes go, I like to throw 1/4 oz in the spring to give the bait a gliding action when I kill the bait. In the summer, depending on the depth I throw throw anywhere from 1/4 in really shallow water (1-3 ft) to 1 oz in deeper water (20+).
  21. I have a black custom Norman DLN that is lights at night...that is all the info I will provide
  22. Good to hear my man! Sounds like you had a great day on the water!
  23. Yep. I had a $30 topwater muskie lure I was throwing on Mill Lacs lake. Within my first few casts I had a muskie on, but she broke off the back treble hook and swim free. I had to drive 30 minutes to a local bait shop to get replacement hooks. The first throw when I got back on the water, the bait snapped and went flying a half mile back into the reeds....not my favorite fishing memory. You should be thankful that you don't have the number of muskies and pike that we do. The worst feeling is when you are throwing an LC D20 and the line just goes slack...
  24. Didn't say it wasn't doable at all and I never said there wasn't those fish in our lakes, but I said that they are far and few between...I don't think I have personally even seen a 7 lbr come out of a MN lake. I would just love to see a pic of a 7 1/2 MN bass.
