with those water temps, I like to throw a Norman middle N and DLN - Copper Green
  2. I am usually throwing Chart/Blue back instead (confidence thing), but you would throw firetiger in the same situations - dingier water and/or deep water (15-20 ft.)
  3. Take the 1 oz, put on your favorite trailer, tie it up on your frog rod, and sling that thing as far back in the pads as you can - it will rip right through them and give the bass a look they may never has seen before due to other jigs not attempting what this jig can.
  4. Is this a duplicate thread?
  5. Hollow belly - River2Sea Bully Wa and Spro Bronzeye Paddle Tail - Stanley Ribbit
  6. Something about a 7" tequila sunrise yum ribbontail with a pegged 3/8 oz tungsten weight in the rain that never disappoints.
  7. I went to a local lake to observe and saw a few 7 lbs just cruising around taunting me...Our seasons need to be considered for change; anglers who are C&R should have the option of paying a little more for a license that allowes us to fish during this great time.
  8. Really? This is the first recommendation for this swimbait...I bought a few and was VERY disappointed; it kept rolling on me. Try a black spinnerbait with gold colorado blades
  9. Haha I would have already started hacking if I didn't live at an apartment complex.
  10. Thanks and great advice as always Hooly.

All I throw are clear spooks and white belly spooks.
  12. I could go on for hours on the questions you asked, but the generalized answser is it goes back to doing your research (articles, read posts, etc), spending time on the water, and learning the patterns of the bass and baitfish. I have created my own patterns through trial and error, but here is how my day usually goes: Early morning - I Always start out with a topwater bait in shallow water. If they aren't wanting it, I will move down the water column by throwing a swim jig following by a premier jig. One of these techniques usually comes through, but if not, I will vary my retrieve or switch colors. Mid/day - I will start to fish under docks, lillies, or other areas in the which the fish will be postioning for comfort and to ambush pray with jigs, weightless worms, etc. If the bite is good I will stay, but if not, I will venture out to deeper water and look for points, weedlines, etc. My bait my choice in deeper water are heavier jigs, swimbaits, or deep cranks. Evening - Swim jigs, swimbaits, and ribbontails! One of these will get bit most of the time, but I will ususally be fishing on top of points or around shallow-mid range flats. Sorry for the not getting too in depth, but again I am at work..I will try and post again later tonight. **Do note that this is based off a summer time pattern.
  13. No problem, we have all been there...One thing I did last year that really made me a better angler was I dedicated the whole year to not fishing soft plastic senkos or trick worms. This forced me to rely on other methods and gain confidence when I probably would have been going right for my soft plastic worms.
  14. Good way to simplify things - I like it. Try a zell pop and Norman DLN or Middle N; you will not be disappointed.
  15. I am at work so I have to keep it brief, but you need to be open to other techniques. Learn to be a well rounded angler by studying when and how to fish techniques, so when the time arises you will have confidence in that bait and it will produce. My confidence lure is a NorthStar Custom Baits jig - more specifically a 1/4 oz new gill swim jig around this time of the year. Throughout the year I will throw a different style, but I would start out with a few NorthStar swim jigs and premier jigs in confidence colors.
  16. Besides what has been said, try switching up the color or go to a silent model - a subtle change can turn short strikes into a clomp fest!
  17. Skipping weightless worms. That might be exactly what I am looking for! Thanks DVT
  18. I am looking for a MH-H 6' spinning rod that I can throw soft plastics around docks - any suggestions?
  19. Yes sir! Hopefully it will be my first bass boat! It all comes down to the lenght and if it will fit in my garage.
  20. When bass are moving up after a long winter they want an easy meal. They might hit frogs aggressively, but if not, slow it down and leave the frog in their strike zone for a longer period of time - that should get them to bite.
  21. Anyone have experience with this boat? Just wanted to get your opinions on how it drives, storage, etc. Also, I am wondering the total length from lower unit to front of trailer. Thanks, VC
  22. Along with the great advice already given, try fishing jigs. They are very hard to mess up, most consistant way to catch fish, and there is a jig type for any fishing situation. I would start out with a black/blue and watermelon color NorthStar Custom Baits premier jig in a few different sizes
  23. We are driving the bandwagon my friend
  24. I peg my weight when punching through grass which helps get through a lot cleaner without getting hung up. For baits, I am always throwing creature or craw baits - lizard, beaver, paca's, etc.
  25. With 12# flouro you can keep a Norman DLN in that zone, and IMO they are the best mid/deep crank every made.
