  1. I bet many have lol. This is an online forum, it's not a school paper, so I don't care how people type, as long as you can understand the point.
  2. I don't know the law for that, but catfish IS a game fish...
  3. I've had the same experience too. I don't plan on buying them again wow. such a shame with a bait that's this amazing to just fall apart so easily... i'm sure they must have put some time and research into this, a quick look at the bait and it just stands out how there's maybe 4 millimeters of plastic holding your hook on. If this was a more durable bait, I would probably always have one tied on. I just can't imagine buying baits that fall apart before you even hook a fish.
  4. I'm curious to see if anyone has had the same experience...
  5. if you want more distance and are casting very hard, you need to use your thumb a little more.
  6. you can use the same things you use during the day.
  7. so here's my take on the magic swimmer softs, they're probably one of the best looking soft baits i've ever seen in the water. The downside, is that the durability sucks. the 2nd sebile was ripped to shreds when I had a hit, and didn't hook the fish. The 3rd bait fell apart without a single hit. The area around the nose where you insert the hook is so small, and there's barely anything there. Also, I couldn't get a single weight to stay where I put it... after every cast, they always ended up in the belly. For the price, I don't think i'll ever buy them again. For $15 for 3 baits, I expect them to last more than 15 minutes of fishing, especially when they don't last for even 1 fish.
  8. fishing regulations are about more than size limits and keeping fish though read the rest of the post, and don't nit pick.
  9. Like I said, I should have been more specific... you guys are harsh... If I don't keep fish, why do I need to know the size limits for every species in the lake? I worded my first post wrong, that's all. I almost exclusively fish private lakes, the regulations are not the same, there's no wardens, it's that simple. If i'm going to a public lake, or a new lake, I always read up the rules before I head out and follow them all. Let me give a different example, let's use driving... we do it every day. But I can almost guarantee you that if everyone here had to take the writen driving test again, the vast majority would fail miserably. I bet if you took the multiple choices away, majority wouldn't even answer a few questions correctly. Why? Because nobody knows all the laws. So what do we do? We follow them to the best of our ability. Does that mean that everyone on this site is an idiot, and nobody should drive? I was responding in a more general context originally, because I wasn't thinking specifically fishing when I typed it.

I like a #5 mepps, great multispecies bait. Perfect for muskie, bass, and bigger walleye. It will avoid many of the smaller fish, but not to the point where you're not going to catch anything.
  11. wow... i wouldn't even want to THINK about seeing a friends rectum, let alone stick somthing up it...
  12. If you want i'll let you know how the others hold up. I fished the first one for about 45 minutes or so, and like I said caught one fish. The 2nd one I used for probably a half hour yesterday, and half hour today, no fish on it. I'm going out all day tomorrow, so hopefully i'll have an update on that.
  13. like burley would say, ignorance of the law is no excuse. its your duty to educate yourself on them if you dont know them all give me a break. maybe I should have been more specific, but show me one person that knows every law there is, I doubt you can find one. I'm probably one of the most honest, law abiding people you've never met. (in the last 10 years at least lol. used to be a trouble maker) In regards to keeping a fish that's under the limit, I would never keep one, doesn't matter how close it was.
  14. I follow the rules. I don't know every rule there is, so I may break a few by accident, but any rule I know about I follow without question.
  15. first one was mangled after one fish. i'm going to see if the other 2 are more durable.
  16. This is kinda like saying "I want to date a girl, should it be a blonde or a brunette". Everyone will have a different answer, nobody is wrong, and many will tell you to get both... But, if I was in a situation where I could ONLY choose one, I'd go with the bigger profile of the rooster.
  17. I use both, and don't have a preference.
  18. In calm conditions, I only use my thumb in the very beginning of the cast to slow down the initial spool speed a little bit, and then again when the bait hits the water. In windy conditions, or a bait that is going to have some drag moving through the air (A t-rigged worm has little resistance, and is easy to cast. A jig with a big skirt and trailer will be harder to cast, because there's more wind resistance) you'll want to use some more thumb. But to answer your question about the best way to avoid backlash? Lots of practice, patience of a saint, and a true desire to learn to use your new reel. If you don't want to do these things, it will be a slow, painful process. Took me a solid 7 hours of casting practice to be able to cast consistently without backlash. May not seem like much, but go try it lol. Once you learn the release point, which like said is a little different than spinning, you'll become much more accurate. What's great about a casting reel is you can throw out a bait, and use your thumb to slow it down and hit your target very precisely. People like to point out that you can also do this with a spining reel, but it's much easier on casting gear.
  19. guys, let's remember i'm not talking about losing baits in general, i'm talking about losing baits due to bad line. I lose baits all the time, but that's not what this is about. This was about getting a bad spool of line. (the first xxx yards were no good. literally pulled apart by hand with minimal pressure) I was reimbursed for both the line, and the bait.
  20. The magic swimmer softs are amazing, action is crazy, I love how the bait changes what it does simply by moving or adding the weights... it's like having several baits in one, and you can quickly change what you want without using a different bait. The bass still are not biting good in my lake, but it's starting to warm up, just starting to see them coming more shallow and getting active.
  21. first time I hooked a 2 lb smallie (my first one) I thought I had a record largemouth lol. boy, do they put up a fight! Congrats on your first, and good luck in catching more.
  22. are you making sure to keep your line tight? that's the #1 reason why a fish will throw a bait, from having slack in the line.
  23. take 2 stickbaits, similar to a senko, and lay one across the other so it makes an x shape... that's the basic idea.
  24. I'm looking forward to giving these a shot for some walleye... I got my first usa walleye over the weekend, foul hooked a 2 incher lol. I've gone out maybe 3-4 times this year specifically targetting them, had 3 bite through the line, none landed.
  25. yep. my area of jersey is a little different than the rest of the state, i'm on top of a mountain and the lake is fed by melting runnoff, so it stays frozen longer, and then stays cold longer. I've caught 1 bass since ice out. Panfish? Can't even begin to think of how many hundreds i've caught.
