Sebile Magic Swimmer
I tried the magic swimmer out for the first time yesterday, and while i didn't catch anything, I was also fishing in a lake that was drained for dam repairs, and was just filled up within the past few months. So to be fair, there is not too many fish available that can eat somethign that big. The things I noticed is that it casts a mile and a half, ALWAYS swims true regardless of speed, and also has incredible action regardless of speed. I'm not sure how it compares, because this is the first bait i've used in this price range.

Got My Sebiles
It wasn't a buy it now, I just lucked out with the high bid. Knowing that the sebile's alone go for 15-16 dollars, I figured there was no chance I would get it when I bid 20. I forgot about it until I got the email that I won lol. When I shop on ebay, what I often do is sort by ending soonest, and then look through what hasn't been bid on. You can end up getting tons of stuff for crazy cheap. I got 50 mustad keel weighted hooks last year for like 13 dollars, and too much other stuff to list.

WHY CAN'T I CATCH BREAM?!?!?!?!?!?!
if you're not catching them on live bait, it's because they're not there. My lake has lots of them, and between me and my fiance we got 23 in about a half hour yesterday... the bigger ones will not be under the dock, but still, if they're there, they will eat the live bait, regardless of the conditions.

Got My Sebiles
I just recently got a Sebile magic swimmer, and today I got in the magic swimmer soft, these things look pretty sick. Can't wait to try them out. Scored big time on ebay, got the magic swimmer soft, a pack of senkos, a box of money minnows, and a box of fat money minnows for 15 dollars!

How to cull without a scale
I'm curious to know why you're against using a scale, expecially in a tournament situation? It would solve your problem...

Fishing in Maine?
We're potentially thinking about planning a trip to maine in the summer, any suggestions on places that have good fishing, but also stuff for the ladies to do? They'll probably last an hour on the boat and then want to go shopping or do something else. any ideas would be appreciated.

Please Help Me Understand Crappie Fishing
Beautiful fish. NICE. I enjoy catching crappies myself. Thanks for replying to my thread on what time of year I can start panfishing. I've been out of fishing for a good 23 years. I remember catching a lot of them, but not when we started fishing for them. Weather looks a bit nasty that day. your welcome, and yea, it was very nasty. Couldn't see too far at all, was hard finding our way back lol

When would it be a good time to fish for panfish? Meaning
perch are other panfish are active and moving before the ice melts... if you weren't catching panfish, it's because you weren't in the right area, or were doing something wrong. They're not like bass and some other fish that don't move much when it's cold, they're pretty active, and start to spawn very soon after ice out. And, that happens to be the best possible time in my opinion. I've been catching them near every cast, starting just after ice out. In my lakes, we find them everywhere from just a few inches of water, to structure in 10-15+ ft.

Which Large Paddle Tail "Swimbait"?
I've done very well on money minnows in the short time i've used them. My next soft swimbait will most likely be the sebile magic swimmer soft. Looks great in the water.

Line failed, lost swimbait...
Well, issue resolved, I received a credit. To new2bc4bass, yea, i've never spent that much on a bait lol. If I lost a 4 dollar rapala, I wouldn't have been so upset. i've been wanting to get one of the sebile's for a long time, and just sucked to lose it in a few minutes. Hammer, I was using 10lb., which is plenty strong, especially with the break ratings on the yo zuri. I mostly use 6 or 8 lb test with similar baits, and have never had line snap like this. My lake has very, very light cover, mostly partially submerged stumps and some rocky bottom areas. Other than that it's mostly a sandy bottom, so snags are far and few between unless you're hitting the stumps. (which I wasn't. like said, I was fishing over the beach) After getting through a good amount of the spool of line, it seems to be much more durable. I'll give it a second try, maybe with a texas rig this time and not a sebile lol.

Line failed, lost swimbait...
It's just very frustrating to lose a brand new bait like that, especially since I wasn't snagged or dragging the line over anything. Since i'm not getting anywhere with the company, I just purchased a new one along with some other goods elsewhere.

Line failed, lost swimbait...
So yesterday I got some new yo-zuri hybrid line to test out, along with a sebile magic swimmer. I spooled up last night, and woke up early before work to go see how it works in the water. I was fishing in shallow water over a beach to see the action, and how the bait looked in the water. I hooked a fish within about 5 minutes, set the hook, and after about 2 cranks of the handle, my line popped. I'm not talking about the hook coming loose, or something with teeth biting through it, that would be different. I mean mid way from the rod tip to the water it just snapped. This was not a too-tight drag situation, or anything like that. From the quick glimpse of the fish, it was MAYBE 3 lbs at best... I was told there's nothing they can do, has anyone ever been in a situation like that? Kinda upset about losing an $18 swimbait on just a few casts because of bad line... I was pulling the line apart with my hands after that, to the point where I had to strip off maybe 20 yards just to get a hook to stay. Same thing on the fresh line off the spool. And it wasn't breaking at the knot, it was breaking well above the knot. Should I just suck it up, or does anyone have any recommendations?

Manmade Fish Habitat
they should. Just make sure what you're doing is legal, many bodies of water won't take too kindly to people dropping stuff off the side of the boat.

Biggest Fish You Ever Hooked
With some experience, you get to understand that you can't tell how big ANY fish is until you can at least clearly see it... a foul hooked 3lb bass will feel like you have a whale on the end of the line. I caught a small perch the other day, foul hooked, the whole time i'm saying to myself big, big fish lol. So I never, ever get upset about any kind of lost fish until I can actually see it. If you can't see it, that's when the "fisherman's tales" come out, and you lost the HUGE one... Don't forget, in the fishing world, nobody loses small fish... they only lose really, really big ones lol.

"America: The Story of Us"
they can offer little to none... but, they can bring people to the show that the history channel hosts can't.

Hook Set
I learned when first starting to use flukes that you have to use the right size hook... if the hook is too small, there's no room for the bait to slide back on the hook, and it doesn't expose enough hook to get a solid hook set. Make sure that the bait can move back when you set it. If it doesn't, try a bigger hook. For your standard 5" fluke, I think 3/0 or 4/0 is as small as you would want to go.

Please Help Me Understand Crappie Fishing
when the bass aren't biting, and you can pull these out conistently, why bother going to look for bass, and not catch any fish? When you can get these suckers left and right after you find them.

NJ season 2010
Bass still aren't biting, but we killed the panfish yesterday, got some big *** crappie, perch and gills trolling and jigging on the deeper structure. Then we had an ambitious perch that was barely bigger than the rapala lol

NJ season 2010

Boater or NON Boater?
I don't own a boat, buy my friend has 2 boats at the lake which I have the keys to, and have access to any time I want. I fish from shore off the docks fairly often when I don't have enough time to get out in the boat though.

Help a noob outfit his tackle box. (one local store to choose from)
why are you limited to just the local store? If you're on a tight budget, I would check out *.com I have been extremely succesful with their trick sticks, flukes, and brush hogs. Very cheap, very durable baits, and I catch more fish on these vs. other more expensive baits.

What Am I doing wrong- *Swimbaits*
One thing i've learned, that many have not, is that you should never force a bait that isn't working. If it's not working, try something else. Eventually you will learn what works for you, and what doesn't. Some people swear by the fat ika, I have never caught a single fish, nor had a single strike on them, even in areas where I know if I throw somethign else i'll get a fish. So why bother throwing the ika? Seems silly. That being said, you may not be doing anything wrong, the fish may just not want a swimbait.
