  1. All purpose lures great stuff
  2. white mini chatterbait or go with a big white one as long as its white. slap a swimbait on as a trailer and go to town. live magic shad is good for this.
  3. i love my president, great reel. 10 bearings and smooth as can be vs the shimanos and quantums that will have about 4-6 bearings. go pflueger you will not be disappointed.
  4. arent they the guys who make the squirrel tail worms????? aparrently they are a hot commodity right now

  7. agreed. try flipping your bullet weight upside down from time to time as well you may be surprised, also for me a culprit worm weightless works well. A fluke is a great addition to that list as well. i throw xfactor bob n weaves myself.
  8. sounds interesting ill have to check them out.
  9. gotta love a rainy fishing trip, i was rained on today as a matter of fact, but all the lightning scared me and my brother away. yum dingers worked well.
  10. alright fellas there is a lake i fish regularly and it is dominated by hydrilla, i looked at a couple videos and thought that this would be a great way to reach some of those hard to reach places. so what baits, weights, line, and rod should i use. i looked at some videos and stuff but i thought i better ask my BR peers before i make any moves. i think i've got my rod for this technique picked out already, i've got a 7'2 H fast action xfactor rod paired with a pflueger summit 7:1 reel. i've got 30lb braid that i can put on it but i was thinking maybe i should go with 20lb flouro instead. ideas???
  11. agreed check out the flea market on this site, the guys on here are good for deal. i'm sure someone will help you out
  12. if i can catch a bass trolling with my motor running at full speed then there is no too fast. but i mainly throw cranks on a 6:4:1 carbonlite. if you use a 7:1 and feel you're too fast just reel slower
  13. welcome Phil, there is no better site than this site here. great group of guys and gals on here
  14. I didn't expect much out of the day today. We had showers on and off all day yesterday with some heavy downpours mixed in and were due for more this afternoon, but my brother and I made the trip anyway. Started out very rough. The minute we got on the water the worst thing possible happened. The foot motor had crapped out, and he forgot his transom mount motor at home. I have 2 motors myself and never would've thought to bring mine. So after paddling back to the ramp and renting a motor (55 lb thrust thank God) we finally got to hit our first area. We made our first casts about 11:30ish and fished till about 4. The water was in the mid 70's and slightly stained. Brown polarized lenses were nice to have today. We targeted standing timber in depths ranging from 1ft to 12ft. Also fished a nice beaver hut with a few fallen trees close by. I caught 10 with the biggest being 2lb 4oz, all were caught on yum dingers in the bama bug pattern. My brother landed 6 with the biggest weighing 2lbs 2oz, his were caught on stick worms in watermelon redflake pattern.
  15. i fished with #8 trilene and an ugly stik with a culprit worm in the lilly's, had to row the boat into the thick to get them out but was fun as crap, FYI a money minnow in the pads are deadly, on spinning or baitcasting gear, keep it high or fish it slow... but shhhhh its a secret
  16. ive done that on my carbonlite, but i've thrown a #2 mepps comet mino and a #1 aglia dressed and non dressed with the same rod and reel with #10 trilene. shoulda seen those panfish flying through the water on the way to me with this set up, damndest thing you've ever witnessed. i would not recommend this though i only did it becus i left my ultralight gear at home, there was very little casting distance with this set up
  17. those are nice days to have. unfortunately i've never had one lol, i've pulled out 20 in a days time. Yeah they actually just started opening it up on thursdays and fridays the other week. normally i like to read your reports on fishingva.com but i can't seem to get onto the reports
  18. My brother in law and I to Hunting Run yesterday from 10:30 to 1:30. When we first got there I knew it was going to be tough, the wind was just not cooperative. Couple that with the fact that the reservoir is filled with standing timber and you have a recipe for disaster. I fished my xfactor bob n weave, a 1/4 oz gold booyah three blade spinner and a bama bug yum dinger. I managed a few hits on the bob n weave but no takers, the fish were missing my bait, and nothing on the spinner not even a bump. I did however pull out four on my dinger, with the largest being #2. My brother in law caught a monster sunfish of some sort using a mini red craw colored rat-l-trap, he then managed two bass on a watermelon chigger craw rigged texas style, both dinks. He did however hook a giant that he battled with for quite a while before the fish broke the water and spit out his lure. The water was extremely clear (more clear than usual) about 7 ft visibility, and the bass are in post spawn patterns now. We pulled all of our fish out of 9-12 ft of water. Sorry for no pics, the batteries in my camera died and I had no clue .
