  1. I'll be at the bass pro sale this weekend and I'm in the market for a pure texas rig setup. The problem is that I'm not sure what length rod and gear ratio I should be looking at? 6'9 MH? Also, I'm looking at a combo of about $130 if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys give me.
  2. I know what rod and reel it was. I should of specified the question. Sorry. Does anyone know what length, action, tip, etc...?
  3. Anyone tried the Strike King 6xd's yet? I'm thinking about getting some. Let me know what you think.
  4. Wondering if anyone knows what rod and reel KVD was using in the classic to throw his lipless all weekend?
  5. I'll go ahead and throw the word our for JB Custom Rods. This guy has about every kind of rod type you could imagine. Technique specific. Free lifetime repairs. His rods run at about $150. I would take one of his over any rod on the market. He sponsors the North Carolina State University team that won nationals last year. He also sponsors numerous pros. You can't go wrong with these rods. I'm sure all of the others are great rods as well. Check out the website: http://www.custombassrods.com/ .
  6. JB Custom Rods out of North Carolina. Denali Rods out of Arkansas. http://denalirods.com/ http://www.custombassrods.com/index.html
  7. Thats good to know. I haven't heard of them until I came across them at the expo. Another great custom company is JB Custom Rods. He makes excellent products. This guy is based here in North Carolina. http://www.custombassrods.com/
  8. I picked one of these up at the North Carolina Salt and Bass Fishing Expo two weekends ago. I was wondering if anyone has come across, used, or heard about them? This company is only a two year old company out of Arkansas.
  9. Good stuff. I was at the expo as well but it was not my first time seeing the company. I own a bunch of jigs and jig heads from them. You can get a bunch of their products at Gander Mountain in North Carolina.
  10. Just got my kit in today and I was wondering what depths do these lures run? RC 1.5, RC 1.5 DD, RC 1.5 DRS, Rc 2.5, RC 2.5WK, and RC 3.5
  11. what rod specifications are you guys using? MH or M? What kind of tip?
  12. I just wanted to get some input from some of you older guys on what old crankbaits you like. Anything from Poes to WEC. I just want to see some opinions.
  13. Just wondering if anyone knew the companies that made these rods?
  14. The depth of the docks vary, I have found some that lie around 12-15 feet. Some sit in shallow.
  15. WRB, its a clear man-made lake that doesn't have too much vegetation because its a private lake in a gated community. They spray for the vegetation, it has a sparse amount but it isn't the easiest to find. It has a d**n, a few points, and many docks if that helps.
  16. The conditions in my area lately have either been blue bird conditions which entail low 90s, a water temp of mid to high 80s, and the sun high in the sky. On the other hand, I have rain/thunderstorms. Can anyone help me find the fish in these conditions and does anyone have any advice on what type of presentations/lures to use?
  17. I was wondering if anyone had a step by step guide/tutorial on how to replace the skirt on a spinnerbait, buzzbait, or jig. I am about to replace a few skirts on spinnerbaits, they are terminator spinnerbaits. I have had them a for a little bit and the skirts on them seem cheap and tend to tear easily when they are maneuvered around. Thanks, I am looking forward to any help with this
  18. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could explain what type of bait fish, crawfish, etc... bass feed on by the season or periods such as pre-spawn, spawn, post-spawn, early/late summer, fall, winter, etc... I think this can really help me by trying to match my lures to w/e they are feeding on. I live in North Carolina, if that helps. -Thanks, I'm looking forward to your responses
  19. Yes, that is all I have used them on. I am using a 1/16 slider on the 3.5 beaver, and a 1/8 on the 4.2 beaver. So far it has been very effective, make sure not to set your hook to early. I like to watch my line when using the beavers on a slider head just because I had trouble with hook sets when I first started using this technique. Also, I know that the Reaction Innovations baits are a little bit pricey so I have been using the Bass Pro brand and have had great results, however, there are not as many color choices with the BPS brand.
  20. I have been really impressed by bandit and strike king. If you get a chance go pick up a couple of the 3/4 oz Red Eye Shad Lipless crankbaits from Strike King.
  21. Can anyone explain how the number/series models and their corresponding depths for the Lucky Craft Rick Clunn crankbaits?
  22. I found a couple Revo s for $80 free shipping, barely used.
  23. Well, I'm trying to keep m price range at about $80. What do you guys think I could get for this price? The reel will be going on a 6'6" MH (fast tip) St. Croix premier.
  24. what about the cetina. My purchase is between the cetina, the bps extreme, or the bps rick clunn signature series. I am trying to stay in around $80, I may go to $90. Any suggestions?
  25. Hey guys, I was at gander moutain today and this reel caught my eye. I am a big pflueger fan because I own the Trion LP. I am about to purchase a new reel within the next couple of weeks and I need some help on a new reel. I am considering the Pflueger Purist, the new Bass Pro extreme, the old Bass Pro extreme, and the bass pro rick clunn signature series reel. Let me know what you guys think.
