Ignorance Species that are allowed to be bow fished are species in need of population control generally. In WA you can harvest bull frogs and Common Carp with a bow, no other fish.
  2. Vanish is terrible. I ran it for like 2-3 months, snapped off a bunch of times. Went to Yo-Zuri Hybrid and havent looked back.
  3. I have a 7' MH veritas paired with a Revo SX. Love the combo. The veritas not only looks sweet, it's super light and sensitive. Mine ended up coming with a bent bottom guide and no insert though. Having my girlfriends dad fix it for me, no gripes otherwise. Now the girlfriend wants one
  4. Anyone used one? How are they? I noticed they're pretty dang light, even compared to the Shimano and Steez lightweight reels. I read the biggest gripe with them was the drag not being quite as strong as the Shimanos. Anyone with some real world experience with them? Looking to make it my next spinning purchase. Thanks.
  5. I use a Shimano Compre 7' M crankin stick and a Shimano Curado 201dpv 5.1:1 ratio reel spooled with 12lb yo-zuri hybrid. Works amazing for me. Cranks are my go to bait so that rod gets LOTS of use.
  6. Do you paint baits and sell them? I would be interested if you could do Rapala DT series baits in those amazing paint jobs!
  7. Always. It's much easier for me to slow down the retrieve than speed it up. My cranking reel is a 6.2 while my frog/jig reel is a 7.1. My new plastics reel will be a 7.1 also.
  8. Lefty reels all the way! I grew up fishing a spinning rod in my right hand and reeling with my left. Being right handed it worked perfectly. When I switched over to baitcasters I just used the same formula. I have two Shimano Curados and am adding a Revo SX here soon. Love my Curados ;D
  9. That's our summer in my state. On your side. ;D East side we get 100* in the summer or so. The lake I fish the most hits around 85-87* water temp and the smallies are super predictable. Love it. Worst conditions? Wind. Being in a 17' aluminum it blows you all over the place. Bugs. Hate the nasty buggars. People. Most are inconsiderate. I love fishing in the rain though. Never have real good luck, but nothing like a warm rain storm

  12. Well the girlfriend is getting her diamonds for x-mas so she told me to go pick out some stuff I want, time for a new rod/reel setup ;D Decided I'm going to try out the Revo SX reels. I've been using Curados 100% for my bait casting for the past two years. My only stump now is the rod in which to put this reel on. This will be a C-rig, T-Rig, plastics kinda setup so most likely a 7' M rod. I know the Vendetta is designed for the Revo SX, but I've heard great things about the Veritas. Should I stick with the rod designed for the reel or step up a little in the spectrum? Thanks.
  13. My setup: Shimano Compre Cranking Rod 7' M Shimano Curado 201dpv 5.0:1 ratio Yo-Zuri Hybrid line 12lbs test. 90% of my cranking is in 6' or less and this setup just kills.
  14. Only lures I pay full price for are rapalas. Everything else is when its on sale unless I need it then. Rods and reels, never paid full price for any of them. Ebay has great deals.
  15. Yep catch em imitating craws with a crank bait from time to time.
  16. Two of my buddies are in a canoe and about to land it. The one buddy is a natural klutz and starts rocking the boat freaking out. My other buddy throws the rods off the boat to the shore and hops out so he doesn't get dunked. As he jumps out the boat rocks and it sends him flying, stepping on his brand new rod and breaking it about 8" down from the tip. The other buddy flips the canoe and dumps the rest of the gear in the lake. Friggin moron ;D
  17. I hear ya on the weather. It's snowing in Wenatchee right now :
  18. My favorite way to fish is shallow cranks. I cast a dt-4 in a craw pattern or hot mustard right up against shore and work it back bouncing it off the bottom with short pauses mixed in depending on what the fish are wanting. It mimics a craw perfectly and hammers the smallies in our muddy lakes.
  19. Join up on Washingtonlakes.com They have a good forum with lots of info on the west side smallie. Drop shotting seems to be the thing on Lake Washington. I fish the east side at Moses Lake, The Columbia, Potholes, and the small chain lakes in the region. My #1 technique is a dt-4 in hot mustard bouncing rocks on the bottom like a crayfish.
  20. I run a shimano cumara heavy rod fast tip in 7' length with a shimano curado 301E7. Fast ratio so I can horse the fish out of the thick. Also use it as my frogging stick. I'm spooled with 15lb yo-zuri hybrid right now.
  21. The lake I fish is pea soup year round. I like to throw shallow cranks in craw colors that will tick the rocks on the bottom. All my craw colored cranks have very beat up lips. Black spinner baits should work as well. I haven't been bit on any rattling lure yet in this lake, and have heard from locals the fish don't respond well to rattles. I'll be giving it a go with jigs coming up here in april.
  22. Power. My #1 techinque is to rip craw colored cranks over rocky points and by docks, ticking the bottom all the way for smallies. I also like fishing a small yamamoto grub t-rigged fast over flats and weed beds for buckets. For finesse it's a jig. I've only landed one fish with one and I'm trying to up my finesse game. I need a lot of work. This season I've been using weightless senkos and jigs for finesse with no luck.
  23. This is how I do it. I use rapalas DT series lures and tick the rocks back to the boat.
  24. I use a Curado201DPV in 5.0:1 for all my cranking. Last year was the year of the crank for me as well as TT and I fished 90% shallow cranks (dt-4's) Landed hundreds of bass with it. Low fatigue, and I was able to slow my speeds way down or speed em up.
  25. Only on my cranking rod. It gives the bait better action and allows me to switch baits quicker. For plastics, jigs, topwaters I tie directly to the lure.
