Another took the GF fishing, Curlew WA.
They're actually board shorts I always fish in board shorts, flip flops, and a cutoff T shirt. Allows me to get wet and not care. I'm really proud of her. As the night went on she started to remove the fish from her own hook without me doing it, and I taught her to re rig her grub so she was 100% self sufficient by the end of the night

Beginning Baitcaster
Shimano Curado 200DPV is a good reel that can be had on ebay for around $120 shipped usually. I too use a left hand retrieve model. I fish all my spinning gear casting with right and reeling with left so it wa sonly natural to do it with the casting reels too.

Another took the GF fishing, Curlew WA.
Was up at Curlew for 4 days. I caught over 100 LM bass and had 3 Tiger Musky on. Great weekend. DT-4's in bait fish patterns were a good producer. Tried out my new Compre crank rod and curado201dpv. Excellent combo! Had the girlfriend fishing with my cheaper setup. Shimano scimitar and a quantum incyte spinning reel. Had her rigged with a 4" single tail curly grub and a 1/8 oz tungsten screw in worm weight. She caught her first bass, as well as her 2nd, 3rd, 15th 16th etc... All the fish were under 10" but they were biting fast and hard and kept 4 of us entertained for days. At one point my dad had 15 bass in 15 casts. Can't wait to go back. Girlfriend is begging me to buy a boat now so her and I can go fishing together. Love getting the OK for new toys! Anyone got a 18' tracker bass boat for sale in WA? ;D

Great Plano tacklebox
Got a basspro 3700 bag. Crammed 4 spools of line, about 20 bags of plastics, a 6"x6" or so jig tackle box, a spinner bait tackle box, a leader pouch, bucket of gulp leeches, small fly box, small terminal tackle box, 6 jars of powerbait, 7 3600 plano boxes(room for one more), one 3700 box on top of the 3600's, and a ton of misc crap like sunglasses container, leatherman, etc. Thing weighs about 55-60lbs but it holds all my stuff

Fat Ika Help
In my experience, yes they take awhile to fall. One of my favorite plastics 8-)

Do you really need super heavy line?
Explain to me the point of having 65 lb braid with a significantly weaker 12-20lb fluoro leader? I think I'll stick to fluoro. 8-)

Baitcaster Casting Problems
Easy as pie. With my first cast on my new curdao 201dpv I backlashed. I remembered I never messed with the VBS. I engaged 2 and then retried. I've had one backlash since and it was my fault for not thumbing properly. I almost prefer the baitcast to my spinning setups now and I've only used the baitcaster for 4 days! Already planning on my next baitcast setup!

Help with frog/heavy cover rod combo
Thanks for the quick replies. I'd like this to be a double duty rod until I can afford to get ANOTHER rod n reel for jigging and c rigs. What actions and lengths do you guys recommend for those two rods? Thats where I'm mostly lost in the selection. I currently have a compre 7' crank rod/curado 201dpv combo that I love. ;D

Help with frog/heavy cover rod combo
So I've got my eye on a new 09 Shimano Curado 201E7 as my next baitcaster. I'm planning on using it for topwaters like frogs, pitching jigs and plastics into heavy cover. What would a good rod be to pair with this reel. Do you think the gear ratio of the reel is too high for this application? I'd like to stick with Shimano rods for the warranty and I've been real happy with my shimano products. Looking at the compre or clarus lineup. I'd like to stay at $100 or under for the rod. I will probably be putting either 65lb braid or 14-16lb fluoro on the reel as well. I'm not a huge fan of braid so thats still up in the air. THanks.

Question about shallow crankbaits.
I use a dt-4 and on 12lb fluoro with a medium speed retrieve i can keep it at 1-2ft under and g over weed beds. My go to lure right now is a dt-4 and they bounce off rocks and trees well and with a quick jerk most of the weeds come off of the trebles in the water.

New member from WA
Hi I'm Ryan. I live in Central Washington. I'm pretty green to bass fishing. Just starting to really get into it. Just bought a shimano curado 201 reel and a compre 7' rod as a first bass fishing baitcast setup. My favorite baits to use are jigs and cranks. Gonna start trying senkos and more plastics as well.
