  1. I have a *** reel that I have had for a few months. I've noticed during the retrieve every few handle turns I'll get a clicking sound from the reel. It doesn't feel rough or anything, it just doesn't sound right. Anyone know what might cause this?
  2. St Croix LTB is the only rod I own in that range. It's a great rod.
  3. I have a 7'3 MH F KLX. It's a fantastic stick. You won't be disappointed.
  4. *** Black, Fenwick HMG, Phenix Maxim, Daiwa Tatula. All really solid choices.
  5. Oh I frog in the spring and fall as well. It's just the majority of my big fish have come frogging late evening and into the night in the dog days of summer.
  6. I love summer because that means it's froggin time.
  7. I just purchased a 7'2 MF Phenix Maxim and it's a really nice rod for $110. I also looked at the Fenwick HMG, *** Black, and the Duckett. The HMG would have been my second choice, all were nice rods though and it's hard to go wrong at that price point. Also the 6' 10" MF Crucial on tackle warehouse for around 80 bucks is nice rod at that price.
  8. Tons of options in that price range. Tatula type r, ***, Lews Tournament Pro, Curado I. Most of them can be had well under retail if you look on eBay.
  9. Kistler KLX 7'3 MH F. I can throw just about everything in my box with this rod except for the really light weightless stuff. Really great blank on these. If I was going out and could only choose one rod this would definitely be it.
  10. Phenix Maxim 7'2 MF Spinning Shimano Sahara 2500FE Lamiglas Excel II 703 Casting
  11. True, and it would just give me a reason to buy a new reel. My wallet is already a bit light from the Phenix Maxim spinning rod I just bought but I think I'll grab one of these. Probably the 703.
  12. I don't need another rod right now but man I'm tempted to grab one of those rods for that price.
  13. Pass on the 4oz spoon. That's basically worthless in the waters I fish. Banjo by default.
  14. They are the only lipped cranks I ever use. Catch plenty of fish with them in open water. Reel, pause, reel, rip, repeat. Works great for me.
  15. I won't be buying more. I rarely fish weighted plastics and when I do it's either a really light weight (1/16oz) or I just used weighted hooks. Not worth it for me.
  16. As a teen/young adult (not that I'm old lol) I used one combo and caught plenty of fish. It was a 6:4 baitcaster with a MH/F rod and it could handle a lot of different techniques even though it wasn't optimal for all I did with it. Now that I have a decent job I have a lot more rods/reels but I still loved fishing even when I just had one decent combo. Collecting gear just becomes another part of the hobby.
  17. Senko, Watermelon Red Magic or a similar natural color. Rigged weightless on a 4/0 EWG. White/Chartreuse Spinnerbait, one with double willow blades and one with a Willow/Colorado. Squarebill cranks, one in chartreuse/black, one craw colored. Spook JR, Bone color. I feel confident I could catch fish on just about any body of water with those baits.
  18. Tatula for $103 from "the auction site". You can also find the Lews SS for like $75 on there.

Yep, it's pretty much the e3 of fishing.
  20. Same here. All were marked 119.99 but the guy that worked there used his texlon to scan it for me and it was 89.99.
  21. Improved clinch with everything (braid, mono, floro). Never had any problems.
  22. I use the tackle wharehouse backpack. Holds 3 3700 size boxes, has a place for your phone, sunglasses, a drink, a little built in worm binder, and a tons of pockets and storage space.

My biggest jig bass was caught on one of those. Just over 8lbs. I like them.
  24. Picked up a 6'10 MH/F Crucial for $89. Really didn't need it, oh well though. Hard to walk away from a deal like that.
  25. I have the 7'3 MH/F and I agree. Good rod built on a really good blank for the price.
