  1. Micro guides come on a range of sizes. 50#/17# will pass a 4.5 no problem.
  2. The Shimano uses a whole custom AR assembly. Whatever you do don't open that up. Sounds like the reel could use a whole cleaning. Send it in if you'd like.
  3. A light swab on the tension spacers is fine. Keep grease away from the spool for optimum performance.
  4. The grease is without a doubt clogging the rollers. Flush the clutch again. A thin film of oil will prevent corrosion and aid smoothness.
  5. Spinnerbaits are notoriously hard to cast due to their poor aerodynamics. Lighten your line , make sure the Rod power matches the weight you want to throw and flush your spool bearings to get max casting. Buy a new setup for a technique or application you can't cover with what you have.
  6. It's possible but I don't put a ton of stock in drag specs overall. Carbon drags are stronger but the reason I like them in spinners is the smoothness and durability.
  7. According to my chart , yes it's a 1 piece $2.65
  8. The kit is $8-10 depending on model. I'll install them free but if you have to ship it's more economical to install them as part of a cleaning service which is $22 plus parts. Members here get 10percent off labor
  9. I don't like the mushy felt drag. It works fine but may wear out. A Carbontex upgrade is easy or I can install for you if/when you want.
  10. They'll perform equally well but I'd give a slight edge to Shimano for QC.
  11. Josh the final decision will depend on the model as the definitions of fast and mod fast vary. between two rods in the same line id lean toward the mf
  12. Application wise there's not s lot of difference between the reels. You can mix and match to see is one feels better with a particular seat/grip that's about it. I'd run 15# braid on both spinners, 40# on two casters and 50 or 65 on one.
  13. The sooner the reel gets open ended and serviced the better and easier it will be. A rinse and dry is about all you can do in triage. Not an expensive reel but not a throw away either.
  14. Because they're just recommend uses for the Rod. There is no "right or wrong" plus the definition of "fast " is subjective. What kind of cranking are you looking to do? I use a mh/mod for deep cranks in open water, MH/mod-fast for traps and mid depth cranks around grass and a med / fast for square bills around cover.
  15. The new I design is unnecessarily more difficult to work on. Not the end of the world just s little disappointing / annoying compared to the simple but effective E
  16. The standard MHX are available in several colors for the last couple months. I have used any colored ones but the white finish is good.
  17. Is your reel giving you any problems? I try not to buy just because something is on sale. If you want to treat yourself to something new sure why not. Has the FG ever been serviced?
  18. What did you use for guides? It's hard to tell but they look a little on the large side. I've had good results with that blank.
  19. I see the logic in your line of thought but keep in mind that where the weight is, is as/more important than the total weight. For example : Rod A may have a full composite grip but well placed premium light weight guides. And weigh in slightly above Rod B with a split foam cork laminate finish grip and lower grade guides. Rod A will most likely be the higher performing. Only time on the water will tell the real story.
  20. You're absolutely right. There is no calculation and no right or wrong. 100% personal preference. Don't sweat or over think it.
  21. The Abu lews Pflueger as well as others are all made in the same factory and share basic tooling and parts. The differences come in how each brand decides to package features, components and materials and of course pricing. Pinnacle is separate. As for the OP Pflueger casting reels may not be the bang for the buck that the president spinner is, but they are well built and a decent value.
  22. If I had to pick just one color toad it'd be white.
  23. As long as the sponsor proceeds go toward legit expenses of the charity that's a good way to fund it.
