  1. I take the tension off of the bow strap, rear tie-downs and transom saver every time I unhook from my truck.
  2. A good fresh water rinsing after each outing should be all you need. I apply some pledge furniture polish every so often to keep the water beading.
  3. My 'bass' boat is a multi-species. All I fish is big water and I wouldn't consider anything else.
  4. No they don't. I LOVE mine. Just wish I would have got the 18' instead of the 17'.
  5. Not the only one thinking it....just the only one with the balls to say it!
  6. I have a HDS-7 a HDS-10 on my boat and I still use my 9 year old Garmin for the GPS.
  7. In PA, you get what you get.....no choices. The Fish and Boat Commission issues them. If you buy used, the registration numbers are typically on it and they stay with the boat for its entire life. If you buy new, you won't know your numbers for a month or so, until the state processes the registration and issues the numbers. The dealers have nothing to do with that here.
  8. I have a separate accessory battery for my fish finders.
  9. All of my rods are 1pc with the exception of the LONG steelhead sticks. That being said, the 2pc rods of today equal their 1pc counterparts in performance. I have no problem owning one and actually, will be replacing one of my 1pc with the same length/action/power in a 2pc, just for portability.
  10. Not familiar with the SCII series, but there is a pretty big difference between the ML and M in the SCV....and even a bigger difference between the M and MH
  11. I almost pulled the trigger on a Smoke 30 spinning reel yesterday, til I saw the CI-4 3000 on clearance next to it. I still need at least one more, so, maybe next time!
  12. Not as much cork filler to hold in?
  13. I've caught them on Pointers.....and 5" tubes and 5" hula grubs. But for some reason, never on a whole Smallie Beaver
  14. I've never caught one on a whole bait! I don't get it. I'd hit them!
  15. I cut Smallie Beavers in half and dropshot them. You don't want to try it tho, they don't work that way.
  16. I believe you can also print the shipping label from their website at a reduced rate. If I'm reading the post correctly, it was a multi-piece rod? They're pretty cheap to ship anyway. Not like you're mailing a 7'6" one piece across the country.
  17. What DVT said. Being its that far down on the blank, its a fairly simple fix that won't affect the action or power very much at all. Just won't be as pretty as it once was. Bet it was shipped in cardboard?
  18. I have my big screen (HDS-10) on the bow, but I don't have SS or DS.
  19. Impossible to measure the difference between 'micro' and 'standard' unless they are built on absolutely identical blanks, which is pretty much impossible. If this is done, the micro rod wil feel crisper and recover faster.
  20. Magic Eraser + Simple Green. You have to be careful with mineral spirits or other chemicals. Some fillers used by the manufacturers will soften and fall out prematurely.
  21. C. None of the above. Never spent time on the water with a Duckett, but I've repaired quite a few and they don't impress me. Got 2 more on the rack to fix right now.
  22. The thing that some people fail to realize is these actions and powers have been around for a LONG time. They are nothing new. What's 'new' is the branding or labeling for certain techniques. I had m/m and ml/xf rods in my locker LONG before they were labeled crankbait and dropshot. before the labeling, you found a rod that worked for your application and used it for that.
  23. I don't care what the rod is supposed to be 'for', if it does what I want, then its 'for' that technique in my book. I have 4 different dropshot rods for various baits. One is marketed as shakeyhead. It also doubles my tube rod. The others are sold as DS rods. One is too light in power to be a good Great Lakes rod, but its good on the rivers and reservoirs. The other ones are perfect to me for the application.
  24. Too bad there isn't a clear wrap. Then both of us could be happy!
  25. Thank you DVT and thank you LC Man for being so patient on this one. I was actually scared to build it as I've never worked on such a high-end stick. All I've done prior were NFCs and SCVs. I can't take credit for the grip design, just the execution. I borrowed it from a JP Timberlake, a builder from NC. I saw it at his booth at the ICRBE last year and just knew I had to use it on this Sage. I had to do something different to try and keep him from putting that god awful rod wrap on the grips. He put that stuff on the last 4 projects I worked on.
