Shallow baits, deep water
How often do you find shallow baits like fast paced super flukes, shallow to mid cranks (up to 6 ft.) and swimming retrieves (high in the water colum)/spinnerbaits, or even topwaters effective in water 10 feet, or maybe even deeper. Im sure the bass can see the lure against the sky 10 feet above its head, and dont bass feed above themselves anyways?

pitching baits
Jigs and plastics, usually 1/4oz. i dont go over 1/2 oz. and can go as low as 3/16 oz. I pitch spinnerbaits too, and that has been a pretty good presentation.

Any of you guys fish spoons?
I do great with johnson silver minnows, rapala weedless spoons (until i lost mine), and mepps timber doodles. These all accel in weeds, and can be used like a frog on top of lilys and scum.

to frog or not to frog. that is the question
Yea, but j/w, how do you know that there arent any frogs there at all? But either way, it doesnt matter.

Couple Bass

help needed!!!
By far the #1 ice out lure here is the silver buddy. Cast it and let it settle, than use a yo-yo retrieve with 1' lifts, more or less depending on the fish.

Berkley Blade Dancers
It COULD work, and MIGHT catch fish, but not too well. The hook is surprisingly dull and cheap, and the lure doesnt like to stay underwater unless your using a really slow retrieve.

Classic Predictions
It all depends on the conditions. If it is muddy or rainy, i think that KVD and Hackney have a good chance, seeing how they are great at jig fishing, and power fishermen in general. But if it is clear and cold, i think that Martens (and possibly ike) could pull a victory due to their finnesse skills.

balancing kit
Well its a 7' bps extreme rod, and a pflueger president spinning reel that weighs 11.2 oz.

balancing kit
I got a balancing kit for my rod, and am kind of wondering about the pros and cons. I have it where i can let go of the rod/reel and it will balance in my hand no problem. The tip floats perfectly like its supposed to, but the rod feels heavy. I added 3.5 oz. to the butt to make it balance like that. Is there any downfall to it feeling heavy that will affect my fishing. (sensitivity or other issues.) Other then that, i am pleased with the product.

finally found one!

finally found one!
A 1/16th oz. jig! I have used 1/8th oz. jigs, but have never found a 1/16th oz. one. Ive seen them in books and websites, but i dont order off them unless i have a big order. I got straight black, and am wondering what trailer would you use with these things, which are absoloutley TINY. They are strike king bitsy bugs. Any tips on fishing these? LBH, earthworm77, need your advice.

Help with a Rapala name
I would definatley use it. Put it in front of a spook, and it should be killer. Kind of like a double fluke rig, but not quite.

Wooden Lures
You should be able to get basswood at any hardware store. I am not anwhere near proffesional at this, but i have hand carved 3 lures, a shad type crank, a minnow/jerkbait, and a popper. Each was hand carved with a knife, and touched up with a dremel hand tool.

bps compared to other rods
Ive used some g-loomis rods before. None are mine. They were a little lighter, but i didnt notice a difference in performance otherwise. At least not 100 dollar's worth

Musky in Wisconsin
Look into using jigs or soft plastics of these fish. Its not the norm, but in-fisherman published a lot of articles on this, and i tried it........it works! Caught my pb pike on my first trip using plastics. It was on a 5" leech imitation on a jighead, and the pike weighed 10lbs. Anyways other good lures are big husky jerks, spinnerbaits, and give livebait a try. You dont need to go out and spend a fortune on giant foot long musky lures that cost 20-30 bucks apiece. Oversized bass lures will work just fine, yet it wouldnt hurt to hav a suik and a depthraider handy.

bps compared to other rods
I have a bps bionic blade for my baitcaster, and a bps extreme on my spinning setup. I am quite impressed with these rods, especially for the price range. Now in your opinion, how would a bps extreme or bionic blade compare to a high priced loomis or other big name rod. I have a friend that has a loomis mossy back rod, and i cant really tell a reson to spend $200 on this rod since i notice almost no difference between this rod and mine. I did tell him to get the bronzeback, but he wouldnt listen since its a "smallmouth" rod and he is largemouth fishing, and he really isnt one to reason with things like this. Anyways, i heard that bps rods like the extreme and bionic blade would be in the $150-$200+ price range if made by other companies, is this true? Just wondering and trying to prove a point that my friends $200 rod isnt 2x as good as my $100 rod.

most producing bait
Springtime (ice-out)=silver buddies, yo-yo retrieve (pre spawn)=spinnerbaits+lipless cranks (spawn)=plastics/topwaters Summer (post spawn)=weed lines w/crankbaits (mid summer, when its really hot!!)=ligs/plastics, try fishing offshore structure Fall -i am always very busy come fall, and miss out of a lot of fishing, not sure here All year presentations -weightless senkos -1/8-1/4 oz jigs+t-rigs -original rapalas I know that this information is quite general, but the exact color, location, and presentation will change throught the week, and i am not going to promise one technique/presentation will always work, just a general rule here....

Floating worms
Well KVD said he likes floating worms on shakey heads better, and there is no way im argueing with either viewpoints. I use both floating and regular worms on jigheads and have noticed no difference. As for the tail weight rig, its not a matter of it floating so much if you keep a tight line it should pop off of the bottom no matter what worm, or so it would seem

What makes smallmouth fight harder
I just know that every time i hook into a smallie in the river, i always an thinking its a biggun!!! Thats not usually the case, its just that im not used to the awesome fight that they put up

mounting fish
Well in my opinion, a good skin mount looks much more realistic, no questions. It doesnt seem as glossy, which looks kind of fake, the head/fins are also much more life like. I have a skin mount and am not ashamed one bit. Now i am talking in a general matter. My skin mount was done by somebody who has been doing this for 20+ years, and is the flat out best i know. Most replicas i see are the ones that are done in mass amounts. The same measurements, pose, and colors. Not unique at all. Make sure if you get a replica, to not cheap out and be sure you are getting completley original work. I have caught a fish bigger than the one on my wall, and quickly released it.

your lake types
Pretty much what i expected, almost everybody fishes big man made resiviors. I have a great looking resivior about 5-6 minutes from my house, but there is NO public access site, and the entire shoreline is developed, and the banks are way to steep to fish off. The only way to fish this is to launch at a town that is probably close to 10 miles upstream, when the lake is back to a river. So there is a giant resivior, full of fish, that has never seen any fishing pressure, and i cant fish it!!!!!

small rivers, streams, and creeks
Anybody fish these for brown bass? My most productive river is fairly big (st. joe in SW michigan) It averages around 25-30 yards wide, but in some spots is over 50 yards wide. I havent tried little skinny waters for bass before. Like the paw paw river, which is about 10-15 yards wide in most spots, along with many other "rivers" in this size class. Any tips/experiences in waters like these..........

your lake types
J/w, what types of lakes do you normally fish? Resiviors, ponds, natural lakes, man-made lakes, eutrophic, or whatever other scientific names they have for them.... Are they tiny (20- acres) small (50-) decently sized (50-100) medium (100-200) Respectable (200-500) or big (500+) in acreage? Mine are all natural, usually with a soft mucky bottom, and lots of weeds, in the small to medium size range, usually around or under 200 acres. at most. Oh, and almost all of them are lined with docks and houses, almost no undeveloped shorelines. Not my ideal lake, but its what ive got.
