  1. And the moment youve been waiting for, the fish of a lifetime, for a michigan guy like myself at least. Any guesses?
  2. and the 3.5 i caught later that day
  3. Well day started off slow, very slow. I managed one bit eventually on the buzzbait, and my buddy hooked into one on a sweet beaver exact same time. Mine was just over 2, his was just over 1lb. I swithced to a bullribbbit, which seemed more practical due to the weeds. A couple of strikes, but all lost fish. On one particular cast, i got a strike, and the fish clearly missed the bait, and i continued my retrieve. Luckily i hit it again moments later, and i hooked into an ok fish. It made a bulldog run by the boat and eventually i got it up. HOLY $#!& the head on this thing! I got it in, and needless to say, new pb! And i just bought these baits today. I think i like them. This beats my old pb caught on a buzzbait. Any guesses on the weight of this fish? I also ended the day with a fish going 3 1/2 lbs. And caught 2 little guys going around 14 inches each. My buddy also caught another smallish bass. Well here is the 2lber i caught in the beginning
  4. I always do very well doing just the opposite of slow deep retrieves. My number one summer bait is quickly becoming a buzzbait
  5. What i dont understand is why is it whenever somebody decides to keep a few bass here and there, everyone throws a fit and sometimes it gets to the point that you keep your walleye, bluegill, catfish, trout, etc. and release the bass. That doesnt make a bit of sense. I always release my fish with an exception of of few like a bunch of 14" walleye i will keep for a meal, or a few stunted pike.
  6. Last fish of the day, caught it as i was working my way back in. Check out the back on this fish, there were dents on both sides as if it was bit by a snapping turtle at one time.
  7. sixth fish, really nice colors here
  8. fifth fish, nothing special
  9. fourth and biggest fish 18" and about 3 lbs.
  10. third fish, barely a keeper, about 14" on the dot
  11. second fish. It was hot, but since i was by myself i wore my life vest anyway.
  12. So its been about a month since i have been bass fishing. I decided to go today, although i never really do too great in the later summer months. Well today i caught 9 bass, and took pictures of 7 of them, 2 were dinks. I also missed or lost 6 other bass, to make for a good day. All of the fish were on a buzzbait although i also tried a frog, senko, 10" worm, and 7" worm. The big fish went about 3lbs. First fish of the day
  13. Go with the bps reel. Bass pro reels are really high quality in my opinion. Actually, i believe they are made by pflueger. I prefer them over many name brand reels. I have always wanted a viento myself, just for the twitching bar, but i think ill have to side with the reel that i believe is all around better.
  14. I have some 10 worms, and im curious, would it be smarter to fish these with a pegged sinker, or a slip sinker, or are we just letting the cover in the area determine this. Actually, i have these hooks, they are made by luck-e-strike. They are called the perfect worm rig, and its basically like and oversized jobee hook. Its a 4/0 hook and a 1/4 oz. weight. Is a 4/0 hook a little small? It seems to me if the fish doesnt get the hook in its mouth, its either small, or not a bass
  15. Its probably supposed to immitate a gizzard shad. We have them in our river, and i have actually caught a few before. One was about 15", and i guess they get up to 4 pounds.
  16. Crawdads come in quite an array of colors. Our pond has brown ones, the river has red ones, and this one lake we fish has green ones, like this color.
  17. I can remember one instance, i was fishing and i was on my 5th fish, my partner was getting skunked. After tying on a new spinnerbait, and being frustrated, i couldnt help but notice that this particular person never fished a spinnerbait. They asked how to do it, and i decided to show them. I casted their spinnerbait out, and caught a bass on the first cast with their setup. It was quite fun.
  18. i caught a 20+ carp on 6lb test once. I forgot the camera that day
  19. portage lake? Try trolling husky jerks for walleyes, you might need to work with them using weights to get them down to the fish. Portage lake is kind of famous for its pike fishing
  20. 30lb carp caught on a 7' med light spinning setup rigged with 6lb test line. However im most proud of my 10-11lb walleye.
  21. believe it or not, i have KILLED on the banjo minnow when everything else failed. Absoloultey no joke
  22. ive gotten the hang of taking my pictures myself. Its truly an artform
  23. Ive caught plenty of nice 10+lb carp on curly tail grubs. I also have caught a 28lb carp on a crayfish imitation. And seeing that i have caught several carp up to and over 20 lbs, a carp would have to be nearly 100lbs to have a mouth big enough to swallow a duckling. Those 20lbers' mouth were not much bigger than the width of 2 fingers
  24. I have caught several fish just under 5lbs in upper michigan. Actually, a 4.5 just last week ;D
  25. we were night fishing once, i couldnt get too much action, but my buddy was burning a chatterbait and was slaying them. I had one but lost it the first day. Never got another. Id say they work, however
