  1. Thanks everyone I'll check out all the videos on youtube
  2. I've got a Loomis IMX 843 paired with a stradic CI4. This should work great for drop shotting shouldn't it?
  3. I've been reading up on the jackall cross tail shad and have decided I want to give it a try. It's a bait used for drop shotting but I've never done it or know anything about it. From the pictures I've seen it looks like you tie a drop shot hook about 12-18 inches above your drop shot weight. I'm assuming this technique is mainly for ledge fishing? Can you use it in shallow water? Do you just drop your line straight down and jig it in spots you feel productive or spots you find bait fish or can you cast it out and work it back to the boat as well? Sorry for so many questions but I'm sure someone can help me out. On a side note has anyone tried the cross tail shad out? I'm wanting to target smallmouth on ledges mainly but I'm satisfied catching bass period. Thanks
  4. I fished below the Dam Friday and caught one striper. I tried every lure in the book but couldn't get any bites. I've never fished the river side when it was that high so It might have just been lack of experience. I fished shallow and deep though. The water temp was 68. I just talked with someone who fished yellow creek Saturday and he said him and his partner caught 39 beating the banks with senkos and other plastics. He said they caught 19 keepers. Hope this helps.
  5. Thanks, I'll check this one out as well.
  6. Kent, that would be great. If you can't find it I don't mind buying it I just can't find what I'm looking for. Do you remember the name by any chance?
  7. Can anyone recommend a book on fishing for smallmouth. I've found some but I'm looking for one specifically with information on big river and resvoir tactics, not small rivers and streams. I'm not sure there's one this specific out there though atleat that I can find. Thanks
  8. Thanks guys it was a lot of fun. Now I'm beating myself up for not trying to throw my swimbaits since the bite was so good. lol
  9. Looks like you had a great day. Nice smallies! For some reason I made myself go in this horrible wind today and had a great day. Check it out in the fishing trip or tournament section.
  10. I wish all our smallies down here were as pretty as yours! Some are pretty with the lines in them but a lot of them are just brown. I'm not complaining though they are still blast to catch.
  11. Got out below Pickwick dam today on the TN river. They had 7 flood gates open and the current was very strong. My buddy and I decided we weren't going the night before because the wind was gusting 20-30 mph today but I woke up around 9 am and gave him a call and said lets give it a try. We got out there around lunch and ended up having a great day. He caught 2 nice largemouth that went around 3lb 10oz and 3lb 12 oz. My biggest smallie went 4lbs 2oz and another went 3lbs 5 oz. We caught probably 15 smallmouth and 6 to 10 laregemouth. Also about 15 white bass. Although the weather was terrible we got on an awesome crankbait bite today!
  12. I fished below the Dam this morning at Pickwick and had pretty good day. The morning started off slow but but picked up for me around 9:00 am. I ended up with 12 bass and 1 white bass. All were good fish over 2 lbs. The water temp was between 61-63.5. I was by myself so I couldn't get any good pictures but here's a couple. Oh yea and if anyone is into cat fishing there were guys out there filling coolers with 20 to 30 catfish today so I'm guessing the bite is really good right now. Went out again today and the bite is on! See my thread in the Fishing Trip section. Link to fishing trip thread
  13. Haha, Yes it was me and 2 other friends last year. I just thought I'd post the pic of me holding the stringer
  14. Here's one of my days from last year.
  15. If you don't mind using live bait and can get your hands on small crawfish you will fill your cooler if they're running good. Use a small split shot weight and a crappie hook. If your river has islands in the center fish the point of the island opposite of the one the current is hitting. I usually anchor in about 8 ft. of water and cast out into the deeper water off the sides of the point. You can just slowly reel it in or fish it like plastics either works fine. If you can't find crawfish I've had my best success on sexy shad rattle trap or series 2 crankbait. Good Luck
  16. So I ordered a Humminbird 798ci HD SI combo last weekend and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. It never showed up so I checked the tracking and it said a delivery attempt was made and that I wasn't home. I was actually outside in the yard when the attempt was supposedly made so he never even drove down my street. Also no door tag on the door saying an attempt was made. I double checked just to give them the benefit of the doubt but nothing. I brushed it off and made sure today that I was home all day to receive the package so I could install it and take it out this weekend. At about 3:30 a Penske truck pulls into the driveway and honks his horn twice. At the time I didn't know that Fed Ex now contracts people out and that some drive Penske trucks or I would have gone outside. The driver never got out of the truck then pulled out of my driveway and left. I checked my tracking status and it says that a second delivery attempt was made, once again no door tag. After talking with customer service they informed me that some do drive Penske trucks and are contracted out but they could not deliver it again today even though there incompetent driver never came to my door, and I also could not come pick it up tonight. He said a third attempt would be made and that if I didn't get it then I'd have to come pick it up. I said what makes you sure he won't do the same thing he's done the last 2 days and he just kept saying sorry and that it would be delivered tomorrow. Then he says for me to put a note on my door saying it could be left at the door. I almost lost it and asked him what good will that do if he hasn't even came to the door the last 2 days! He just said sorry it will be delivered tomorrow. So basically the guy on the phone could care less which I'm sure they deal with a bunch of those calls every day but still it's his job to come up with a resolution. If he had just told me he would get in contact with the driver or the drivers manager to make sure this doesn't happen again I would have been okay with that but he wouldn't. Still not satisfied with the outcome I do some digging on the internet and find the corporate number for fed ex(most fed ex numbers take you back to the same crappy support people) and speak with a nice lady who apologized and took my number down. She then called me back and said she spoke with his manager and the package will be delivered for sure on Saturday. We'll see how it goes. Has anyone else had to deal with this crap for a FedEx delivery? You don't mess with a man's fishing stuff like this! lol
  17. Threadfin?
  18. I switch. I use RH bait casters and change the handle on my spinning reels to the right side as well. I haven't came across anyone else who does this though?
  19. Would the 596c DI be a good unit for the front?
  20. I'm planning to get an SI unit at the steering wheel eventually but right now my depth finder at the front needs replacing and I don't have the money for an SI unit on the front. I'm looking at the 596c HD DI or a comparable sonar unit. Do a lot of you use DI for the front of the boat?
  21. How do you guys determine whether you should change colors and keep the same bait or change baits all together?
  22. Hopefully this storm system that's about to move through will wash the shad kill out. If we get 3 inches of rain like projected the dam should be spilling a lot of water.
  23. Yea I was able to pre order on the 3rd and it came in on Monday.
  24. I got mine in the mail on Monday. So far I absolutely love it. I went from the original storm to the Iphone so I probably would have like any newer phone. Just wondering who all has one and if they like it.
  25. I figured. I went to Beach lake yesterday to play with all my toys I've bought over winter and didn't get a single bite. The water temp was 41.
