  1. Agreed. If you can't cast overhead and wind up in the back of someones boat going down a bank you can't cast side arm unless they have a big boat. Even then I'm sure they can here the lure whiffing by there head and are a bit uncomfortable. An overhead cast is definitely a good cast to learn if your not so good at it.
  2. Find a used 7' 2" Cumara MH X-fast and throw the Core 100 MGFV on there.
  3. That's because they don't spontaneously crack. Well the company that owns loomis will send me a rod if anything at all happens, so i think that loomis should do the same. In my opinion i just feel like they are over priced and this is the reason why i have not bought a single loomis rod after my first. I will be sticking with shimano for a while. If I'm not mistaken Shimano owns G Loomis.
  4. Wait till you get a pair with copper glass and you can see even better into the water! They are hands down the best sunglasses IMO as well, but I will say the lenses crack easily and are not cheap to have repaired.
  5. I use this knot for everything. If I'm using 10lb test or less I normally give it 4 wraps. I've never had a problem with it.
  6. I came across this article and thought it was pretty neat. I don't crappie fish much but I figured some of you who do would enjoy reading this. This may be old news to some but it was in today's paper. http://m.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/jan/16/new-fishing-line/
  7. Will be here the last week of April I believe for a wedding. I'm definitely going to go deep sea fishing 1 day and would also like maybe fish the bank on some nearby lakes if possible. Any suggestions on who to charter or any lakes to fish? I believe Rosemary is between Destin and Panama City. Thanks
  8. You won't find these at bass pro. There hand made by a guy in California. Also there not the easiest baits to get a hold of because they are very popular, and since he hand makes them supply and demand can't always be met. On a side not I just picked up a jackall Mikey Jr. that I expect to perform pretty good. Here's the link to 3:16 if your interested. http://www.316lurecompany.com/baits/wakejr.html
  9. Get the best your willing to afford if your certain that fishing is going to be a life long passion and not just a phase. If you do decide to go with a boat around $18,000 then check this one out. It's near us and I'm sure you could talk them down. http://www.fishingworld.com/vdealers/tn/bandBOutdoors/Details.tmpl?SKU=129260326180777165&RID=78769
  10. Thanks for the info guys!
  11. I'm looking at picking up a couple of Sebile Magic Swimmers before it warms up. I was thinking about getting the 125 verison. On *** the reviews don't look so hot. Was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on these baits? I'm looking at the hard version not the soft.
  12. Well before the Droids hit the scene IMO it hands down blue every other smart phone out of the water. I've held out for this long with a blackberry storm first generation waiting on the iphone to come to verizon. I was finally going to go with a Droid since they have some really nice phones out until I got word a couple months back that Verizon was really going to get it this time. But now that I have the option I will definitely get the i phone. Some people will get it for the name but I guess to me the main difference now is that the i phone has Itunes and works as an ipod as well. Don't get me wrong the Droids and other smartphones definitely can play music just as well but the ipod is the most popular mp3 player out there and the one that most people are use to. I like the Apple OS to but I haven't used either of them enough to give an comparison.
  13. If your an existing customer you can pre order on 2/03/11 before any new subscribers have a shot at it.
  14. Too bad they are all sold out already...except for the tillapia patern. Too bad they look great. You can get them from his website: http://www.mattlures.com/bluegillswimbait.htm Or also from ***. I'm sure there are some more that carry them as well.
  15. Zoom 7.5 " june bug colored lizards.
  16. I've got 7 Loomis rods and only used the expeditor service once. The one time I did use it, it was to replace a rod that was ran over by my truck in the garage :'(. I spent a little over $50 and had a new rod in hand 2 days later. I know the expeditor service has gone up since I last used it but I have no complaints with the rods. I know this situation was different but If I had to put my money on it I'd say that majority of the time a Loomis rod is replaced it was because of something the owner accidentally did.
  17. I like this idea. Is there any reason this would be a bad idea?
  18. Is some sort of backing an absolute must with braid? I'd really like to try braid out but backing and leaders just sounds like a lot of work and trouble.
  19. Your not too far from me then. For some reason I always thought you were in East TN.
  20. no, i'm not near a dam. but i fully intend to try that some this year. i have been told that the action below the dam at pickwick is fast and furious at times. gotta get me some of that. Paul, do you live in West TN?
  21. If you don't mind me asking Paul what are you catching them on?
  22. When fishing a tournament on pickwick do you know if you have to lock through the dam to fish the river or can you put in on the river side?
  23. I hardly ever throw a spinnerbait
