curado 300 dsv vs 300e
I'm looking at getting a reel for throwing swimbaits 3 oz and under. I believe I've narrowed it down to these 2 reels unless someone has better suggestions. I'm wanting to know what he difference is in these 2 reels? From the specs I can't really tell a difference.

My first bass on a swimbait (High Power Herring)
Went out on the TN river this morning for about 5 hours to try to catch some smallies. I was fishing with live bait and managed to catch some catfish but no smallies. After a couple of hours I decided to start throwing artificials. In the past I've thrown a couple of small paddle tail swimbaits but I've never thrown any hard bodied swimbaits, and always felt like I would be discouraged throwing these big baits so I never really got into it. Well last spring I started seeing some posts about Randalls high power herring swimbait and many members were posting pictures of fish they caught. I decided I would give them a try so I sent Randall a message and got him to make me one. I was unable to fish much in the spring and summer because work got hectic so I hadn't had a chance to use it. Today I pulled it out and after about the 6th cast the bass in the picture below nailed it. Its not a big bass for a swimbait but I can't complain. The action this bait gives off is amazing and today definitely gave me the confidence I needed to use it a lot and stick with it. Thanks Randall for a great bait. I can't to fish with it some more! I will definitely be getting another one. I think I'm hooked on swimbaits now!

fish i.d. help
Looks very similar to a silver carp to me aka Asian carp. These are the carp that jump out of the water behind your boat when it's running.

Costa
Costas with 580 lenses are hands down better than Oakleys or any other pair of sunglasses I've ever worn. If you go try each pair on you will see for yourself as well as long as you are able to look outside when you try them on. The downfall is like others have said the glass lenses do tend to break easily. If you break a lens it cost around 80 or 90 dollars to have them fixed. They just started making a 580P lens that are polycarbonate that are suppose to be much stronger. I'd take a look at those. The copper glass is my favorite lenses. The mirrored lenses block out the sun a little better but with the copper glass you can see deeper in the water. I just got the gray glass as well and like them a lot to. I have the rincon and brine models. Good luck with your purchase!

Rude Anglers
When someone gets right in front of me on a lake I normally just turn the trolling motor on high and go right around them and start fishing again in front of them. The thing that makes me so mad is when fishing below pickwick dam in the fall. There are many yachts and cruisers in the fall headed south for the year and they don't slow down when they get a couple of hundred yards from fisherman. They keep there distance but man these waves are HUGE! Sometimes they throw the front of my bass tracker so high out of the water that my entire trolling motor comes out of the water then my boat smacks back down on the water. Once I even took on water from there wake. Not to mention if I'm pretty close to the bank it makes it even more dangerous if I don't start the motor quick and try to get off the bank. The current produced by the dam makes fishing below it dangerous enough I don't need them to make it worse! There's been times I'm glad I don't carry a gun on the water or I would have sank one of those dang things. ;D

bass hitting bluegills
I just bought one so I can't speak to whether or not it catches fish but the Jackall Giron in bluegill pattern is a good looking small blue gill bait. Take a look at it. A little cheaper as well. Anyone have experience with these? http://www.***.com/Jackall_Giron/descpage-JG.html

Hot pink lures
So I was watching a fishing video today on youtube where this guy was killing smallmouth on a hot pink rapala x rap 8. It got me wondering in what conditions would you throw this color in? What does it actually mimic?

ATTENTION west tennessee bass fishermen!!!!
I doubt it, but here 's another offer: If you have a boat or a friend with one, I'll meet you below the Pickwick Dam sometime in October or November and put on a clinic for anyone interested in catching trophy smallmouth. Let me know who cares and we will set a date. 8-) If you guys have the time to go it's definitely worth it! Roadwarrior and I met up there last year and had a great time. I caught my PB 5.5 smallmouth! You will learn a lot. Kent's a great guy and hopefully we will get to do some fishing together again this fall.

Crankin Set-up
I fish a CBR 843 paired with a Daiwa SOL for lipless cranks and shallow divers and a CBR 847 paired with a Curado 200E5 for deep divers. Both are awesome setups especially the CBR 843 setup. If you ever want to get together and try them out just let me know!

Hair Jigs for smallies
Man nobody has any information on these baits? This is my first ever no response lol ;D

Hair Jigs for smallies
I picked up some hair jigs today at my local tackle store to try to target smallies. I caught quite a few smallies last year but not many on artificial bait. I've fished for LMB plenty with normal jigs but don't really have any experience with these hair jigs. Could someone explain to me how these need to be fished and do you use trailers with them? If so what kind? I've found a couple of websites that make it seem like they're the best smallmouth bait but I've never heard anyone talk about them.

Side Imaging for a Bass Tracker
So where would I mount it? Yea the pictures are what has sold me on it. I found a forum with a section specifically created to post up SI pictures and it is amazing. They have pictures of cars, boats, bridges, road beds, alligators, etc.... it's really cool.

Side Imaging for a Bass Tracker
What exactly do you mean by this? I wouldn't mount it like I would a normal transducer?
-
Side Imaging for a Bass Tracker
That makes perfect sense Rhino I guess what I was really debating on was whether I should set the money back I would spend on it for a boat upgrade in the future or if the side imaging would be that much more beneficial to me now. I'm not that good at reading depth finders but everyone I've talked to acts like they would never go fishing again without one and they might as well be blind without one. Can someone give me some good reasons why I should or should not buy one? I'm really interested in them but am not convinced that I will increase my success rates. I know a lot of people absolutely love them but I'm afraid that I'm not hearing from the ones that don't or don't think it was a huge benefit since this was an expensive investment for them.

Decisions Decisions
Definitely go for a bachelor's degree. I'm 23 and was in the same situation you were in. I definitely don't think there is a problem with going to a community college first although some people might argue this. I got an associates degree and then got a good job doing IT work at a Corporate office after I finished up my degree. I hold many computer certifications and plan on staying there and moving up but am pursuing a Bachelors Degree right now also. I might stay here forever or look for another job in a year or two who knows but I definitely want something to fall back on if I ever need it, especially while I don't have to pay for it. When applying for jobs a Bachelors degree can make the difference in getting the job or even an interview. Many jobs won't even consider you without a Bachelor's degree. My boss for example says that he shows more interest in someone with a Bachelors degree because it tells him that this person is disciplined and committed. You'll have friends who don't go to college or will get a job their happy with at the moment and drop out. It might work out better for some but most it will not. I know I'm not too much older than you but take it from me get a bachelors degree. If you can work while your in school and hold your grades that's a plus! Building up experience and meeting people who can help you out along the way will definitely give you a HUGE advantage over someone getting out of school without any experience, unless your going to be a doctor, going to law school, etc....

Fixing Gel Coat
"Normally" fading is oxidation that has built up over your gel coat. I purchased a ski boat that had oxidation on it and I removed it with Meguiars oxidation remover. I bought a foam pad that you insert into a drill from Auto zone. This kind of turns it into a buffer but has a lot more power. It takes a little bit of work but you can make a boat look brand new again.

Side Imaging for a Bass Tracker
I found one here for $795 http://www.getfeetwet.com/products/SKU-407440-1-PART-407440-1-HUMMINBIRD-798C-SI-COMBO__407440-1.aspx I've never even had a nice color depth finder so I think I would enjoy it and could really benefit from it when fishing rivers in my area. How do you like yours?
