I agree with Infidel, great starter set up of bait...

Tackle box.
I use a one shoulder strap back pack....It hangs on my back and I can spin it around in front of me to get tackle out....Then spin it back around. It is big enough to carry what I think I might need for that trip.I wade fish for a 1/2 mile or more at a time, then usually get in the road to walk back home or to my truck.

Finding Fish in New Water
I like to look for water at the edge of the swifter moving water. throwing a jig with a trailer up into the rapids and work into the slower moving water.... I try to think were the water would bring bait getting washed to them....I also look for deeper holes and just work my bait in a pattern through them. Trying to get a fell of the bottom and make a mental note, a map in my mind, so to speak. That's how I fish new to me rivers. If I'm doing this wrong or anybody can tell me something to try as well....please tell me.

Gulp Overated?
I agree... the pan fish seemed to like them better...don't increase my numbers, but they stink too bad, a bag leaked out in my back pack when I wade fishing. Thought I would never get rid of that smell.

Fishing Mountainous rivers !!!HELP!!!
I live on a river with a lot of smallies, and I use craws this time of year on a 1/4 foot ball jig, but agree with retiredbosn, Texas rigged with bullet weight will save ya a lot of gear if they are hitting them...good ole green pumpkin worm works here too in NC.
