My PB to date was 4.5lbs to 5lbs (my estimate, no scale) I was using a Super Spot in Foxy Shad, at about 6:00pm at Tri City Park in Placentia, Ca (Orange County) Man it was a fight to bring in this toad. At first I thought I snagged some weeds, then the biggest fight of my life ensued. My heart was pounding! Here are a couple pics. Let me know if you guys agree with my weight estimate.

Im in the market for a new 6'6" crankbait rod. I will be using for cranks mostly but will use it for other stuff that I cant throw on a MH/XF. I posted a similar thread asking what people thought about the 6"6" M Falcon BuCoo rod (I would still like some input on these rods). Havent gotten many helpful answers. So which split grip rods under $100 are the best for cranks/general? Thanks in advance! p.s. if you check out this post please leave your thoughts. Thanks!

Thanks for all the answers so far, I am actually looking for a rod that can handle cranks first, and the general purpose second. I checked out the Falcons at Bass Pro and the Medium feels good and not too whippy, and the Medium Heavy seems too stiff for cranks. I have read in a previous post that the Medium feels like a noodle, it didn't at the store. So basically if anyone has or used the 6"6" Med would you suggest it for cranks and general purpose?

Im interested in getting one of the Falcon BuCoo rods for throwing cranks, and everything else I cant throw on a MH/XF Vendetta. Which power would best suit my needs? M or MH? Any and all help would be awesome! Thanks!

Looking to upgrade my spinning setup, currently I have a 6'6" Voltaeus MF 2pc. that I use for drop shot and any other light line finesse stuff. Im looking for a 1pc in the same rating. Split grip would be preferred. Suggestions? ps. Im picky about how the rod looks too... I prefer a black blank.

Just wanted to know what techniques are best suited for a 6'6" rod with MH/Xfast rating?

Thanks for all the answers so far. I would actually like to get a MH/F it doesn't seem that Bass Pro carries the MH/F, the site only lists MH/XF. I dont think Abu Garcia makes a MH/F. So based on the answers so far it seems that I should keep what I have. If I decide to keep it, what other techniques could a MH/XF accommodate? T-rigs, C-rigs, senkos, swimbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, worms/plastics, cranks, topwater, etc? Im just wanting an all around bass rod.

I recently picked up an Abu Garcia Vendetta 6'6" casting rod, in the MH xfast rating. After reading a thread about an all pupose bass rod being M fast, im considering exchanging it for a M fast action rod. I already have a Shimano Voltaeus in M Fast and like how it handles. Should I exchange the MH Vendetta for a M Fast? I like how the Vendetta handles and the sensitivity is amazing, would the M fast in that model be just as sensitive and work for most all techniques? Whats goin on? Im new to the bass fishing world. I started in Nov of last year. Have already made a few posts. Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Brea, CA and love fishing. The first time I fished in my life was Nov of last year. Have been fishing almost everyday since!

I just read the attached thread, it does not explain the process of splitting a grip. How would I go about this? Advice?

I have been wanting to customize the handle on one of my rods into a split grip handle. Have any of you done this, and how do you do it? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have two of them one spinning and one casting. I like these rods, especially because of the price and the lifetime warranty. I have had them for about six months now. Who has used these rods and what do you think about them?

Thanks for all the answers everyone! I just remembered that when I tried to set the hook line got taken out, so the bass probably spat out the crankbait. So I have to remember to set my drag right and check it.

I have a few packs of the Super Hogs and normally use them as jig trailers or t-rig them. What do all of you think about them? How do all of you rig them?

I just lost a good size bass tonight when I tried to set the hook on my crankbait, I saw the wake, felt the tug, set the hook and line got taken out too easily. My drag was too loose!! How many of you have had this happen, and what do you do to try to get that bass again? Any help or advice would be awesome. Thanks!

I have caught more on my Booyah Mini Shad spinnerbait than any other spinnerbaits I have. Strike King Rocket shad gets second place, I think there is something to the smaller sized spinnerbaits that just produce for me. In general I have been using smaller lures and soft plastics and that has been paying off as well.

I forgot to add another question to my post. What drop shot hooks do you like to use? I personally have been using the #2 Gamakatsu Split/Drop shot hooks. I am trying out the #1 Owner Down Shot hook as well, im not sure if I like them yet. The only thing I like about them is the fact that you can rig them weedless. edit: what retrieve do you use, slowly reel, shake and pause, deadstick, etc?

How many of you drop shot at night? What do you use that you find works? I use mainly roboworm 4.5" straight tail in tequila sunrise and roboworm 4.5" curly tail in baby bass What about you?

Currently Im using Yo-Zuri Hybrid 8lb. it suits me fine. I was just curious what everyone else uses and what type of line(mono, fluoro, copolymer) and weight. My setup is: Shimano Voltaeus Spinning 6'6" Medium Fast Quantum Incyte 20 I use this setup for all my spinning rod tactics, cuz its my only spinning rod. Just want to ask about everyone elses multi purpose line. Thanks!

I have fished at Laguna Lake, I have terrible luck there too! I have my one confidence spot at Tri City that at some point if I hook a bass its gonna be at that spot. Havent fished Yorba Regional yet I have been meaning to but havent had the opporunity to go there. Tri City is like 10 mins from my house. PS. Im not giving away that spot! :-X

I looked at all the senko and swimsenko threads and still do not understand fully. -How are you guys working the senko and the swimsenko? Are you deadsticking, lift and drop, twitching it along, popping it up, etc.? - What retrieve are you using for the swimsenko, t-rig, wacky, weightless? Thanks for all the help!
