  1. Thanks again! Are the hooks the same size as the other one you mentioned?
  2. Thanks! I’ll check those out. But was looking for a screw lock type of shaky head.
  3. Does anyone know of any companies that make 1/0-2/0 shaky heads?
  4. It’s not the length of your rod that matters, it’s how you use it...
  5. X2 on the Sunline Sniper. It’s the only fluorocarbon I use. 7lb for drop shot/finesse, 10lb for jerkbaits/rip baits, 12-14lb for T-rigs/jigs.
  6. TW has the Gen 3 Bailey Swim rods, they’re At the bottom of the list. One new feature is that rods 7’11” and longer have removable handles for ease of transport or customization (once they make new handles).
  7. I was looking at the Dobyn’s Fury swimbait rods as well, but I prefer split grips. That’s why I’m interested in the iRod. I also have the 7’5” iRod Fred’s Magic Stick and 7’ HF rod and like the builds, quality and overall weights of the iRods
  8. @PhishLI & @Hammer 4 thanks for your suggestion about the Tatula 300. Unfortunately, it’s a little out of my price range. That’s why I was looking at the 200 and Revo Beast X.
  9. It’s been a while since I last posted and came to the forum for suggestions. I’m starting to get back into fishing and looking to replace swimbait setup with something new. My current rig is a Defy Black Swimbait rod paired with a Daiwa Lexa 300-PWRL 5:1. It’s an OK setup but I think I’d like to upgrade the rod and reel. I feel the reel is a bit on the slow side and looking for a midrange 6:1 ratio. I think I’m set on the rod being an iRod Gen III Bailey Swim H and need advice on the reel. Not a fan of the round reels and narrowed the selection down to the Abu Garcia Revo Beast X 41 and the Daiwa Tatula 200HL. Do any of you have experience with either of these reels that can chime in and recommend one over the other? I’ll be throwing glides/jointed swimbaits/Hudds/SG Line-thru trouts (~2-6oz). Thanks in advance!
  10. Nice fish! What lake is that if you don't mind me asking? I'm still looking to find more local lakes to fish.
  11. If you can find these, they work quite well. I use those heads for 3.3-3.8 Fat Impacts if I'm not throwing them weightless or with nail weights in the belly (chikubi rig)
  12. I would just get some 3/16 and 1/4 oz drop shot weights. The tear drop shape that QuickDrops makes are quality weights at a good price. They are lead, but if you have lead bans, then omfishingsinkers.com sells tungsten drop shot weights at a cheap price. I would also suggest getting some 4" Roboworms in Oxblood Light Red Flake, Aaron's Magic, and Morning Dawn. Those three colors should get you bit most places. You can add MMIII or Margarita Mutilator if there is some stain to your waters. But, the Green Pumpkin YUM Warning Shots have been a go to for me lately. I seem to get bit on those pretty consistently. You can also add the Morning Dawn Warning Shots as well. I have gotten bit on those in clearer water.
  13. Same way as from a boat. I have only bass fished off a boat once. I hit up local city park lakes... But as for drop shotting from the bank, I typically go 6-12" between the hook and weight, cast out, drag/twitch/hop all the way back to me. I only use shorter leader length when I drop shot small creatures/craws, typically 2-4" between hook and weight.
  14. X2 That's what I have been catching them on lately... I bring my drop shot rod and a pocket sized plano full of Warning Shots in Green Pumpkin and Morning Dawn and a second casting rod to toss different baits to change it up, but always end up going back to the drop shot.
  15. I decided to go with the 6.6:1 so I could slow down for tossing swimbaits. I used to have an Abu Garcia Orra Winch 5.4:1 on there but when I decided to switch up baits one day and use soft plastics, I didn't like how slow the reel was. I figured 6.6:1 would be a good middle ground reel speed. As for chopping off 2-3" off the butt, wouldn't that mess with the balance of the rod and void the warranty?
  16. I would recommend the iRod Fred's Magic Stick (754C), I use that for my 2oz and under swimbaits. Handles them perfect. It can also double/triple as a frog rod and flipping rod if you so choose. I have mine paired with a Con cept A 6:6:1 with the deep spool and have it filled with 15lb Izorline XXX Super Co-Polymer as my small swimbait rod. Very light and balanced.
  17. I have been looking to get a travel/pack spinning rod to keep in my truck or when I travel or camp. I have narrowed it down to the Okuma Citrix 6'6" or 7'2" ML (4pc with case) and the 1 Three O-Men *** 6'7" ML (3pc with case). Which of these two would be the better rod, durability and sensitivity wise? Or can anyone suggest another option? The Daiwa Ardito is out of the picture because it only comes in Medium. I am looking into ML because I have read with multi-piece rods they tend to be on heavier side, power wise. Please let me know what your opinions/experiences with these rods are. Thanks in advance!
  18. What about cutting a section of heat shrink and then placing it on the opening of the CPS, heating it and then inserting the hook. It would resemble a spinnerbait trailer hook. I would try it, but I don't fish flukes very often.
  19. Yes, copoly will work. I use Yo-Zuri 10-12lb for my cranks and lipless cranks.
  20. RES 1/2 & 1/4 and Spro Aruku Shad & Aruku Shad Jr.
  21. Not a Daiwa, but I would suggest the Dobyn's Fury 703SF. It's a 7 foot Medium/Fast rod that would cover all your bases. For Drop Shot, I use an Abu Garcia Villain 2.0 7' MLXF.
  22. These kids aren't fishing though, they are running around playing and screaming. I'm with you on helping out kids fishing, I have talked to kids that are fishing and given them tips and some soft plastics and hooks to use. I just don't like the kids that come up to you and get in the way. I want to fish and not talk to these kids or keep telling them to move.
  23. 100% Agree. The other thing is kids... I don't mind kids at all, only when I am fishing at city park lakes and kids come up to me. They stand so close that I have to ask them to move so I can cast, they only take one step back and I have to ask them to move farther away. Then they take two small steps back and again I have to ask them to move. It has gotten really irritating. A few times I have held my rod out to the side of me or behind me and told them to take 5 steps back from the end of my fishing rod. The other thing that drives me nuts about random kids is that they they try to touch or pick up my other rod that's either laying down beside me or leaning up against a tree. I don't want to be responsible for a kid that grabs a crankbait or an exposed hook on my line and have to deal with angry parents.
  24. What colors do you guys use? I'm kinda leaning towards the Moonphase Shad and the Summer Gill colors.
