  1. Gotcha, I'll figure something out. Thanks.
  2. Will it work with the recessed line tie? That was my biggest problem, its kind of tough to get in there.
  3. I have some Megastrike Shake2 Pro shakey heads with some rough material around the hook eye. I believe its the lead that is used in molding the jigs. What is the best way to clear out the excess material so that it wont fray my line?
  4. Do any of you guys know if a Tatula Handle Assembly will fit an older Daiwa Exceler?
  5. Just wanted to know how you guys say Tatula. Is it "Tat-oola" or "Ta-chula"? I prefer "Ta-chula" based off of the Tarantula where its pronounced "Taran-chula". Random question I know... But its been bugging me on the correct way to say it. I do own two, the 100HSL and the Tactical 100HSL.
  6. I think the Z-Man Fattyz would work well with the Neko Rig as well. I've thrown the Fattyz on a shakey head and done pretty well. I'm almost positive its that bulbous tail that get them. I have one rigged up and going to try this weekend.
  7. What bladed jig is the top right? I like the look of that...
  8. I don't have dedicated polarized fishing sunglasses. I just have a few pairs of Electrics, Von Zippers, and Spy sunglasses with polarized lenses that I wear on a daily basis. They work well enough for me.
  9. There is also the *** Defy Swimbait Rod at TW for $79.99 and an Abu Garcia Orra Winch 5.4:1 for $79.99 as well. I have both and use both. Definitely a good budget swimbait setup. If you want to spend a little extra on the reel, the Daiwa Lexa 300 is a good choice as well. I have tried the round reels and I prefer the low profile for palming the reel.
  10. I don't think the worm will hold the air. As soon as you pull the needle out the air will escape. In regards to the air filled tails, I was actually thinking about coring out the tail section of a worm with something like a coffee stirrer or a soda straw (depending on the thickness of the worm) and then take a little piece of the core and glue it back to the end of the worm with some Mend-it to create that air pocket that some of the manufactured worms have.
  11. I had always thought all Sunline had that halfway mark. It's just what I have heard, I know Defier Armilo has it. I used that mark when I filled up one of my swimbait reels. Also I have only been using Sniper FC as a leader so I haven't spooled it up until recently, that's why I asked the question.
  12. Does Sunline not mark the halfway point on their filler spools anymore? I recently filled a spool on a casting reel, backed it with 12lb mono and then proceeded to put the Sunline on top. I guess I underfilled the spool with the backing line because I spooled about 3/4's of the Sunline before I realized that I won't have enough for a second reel or refill. Have you guys noticed this too or did I get a one off?
  13. I haven't seen anyone supply their products anywhere for a while... I have a couple of their Transporter Frogs, and wish I could find more.
  14. I like old thread revivals... But to let everyone know, I picked up the Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick and have NOT been disappointed! I also picked up the Genesis II 7' HF 1/4-1 1/4oz rod that they make as my multipurpose rod (it fishes like a MH), I have it paired up with an Okuma Helios LP reel and its the lightest setup I have. I may try the Fiber Series one of these days...
  15. Yeah right... They don't make the model I have anymore. I prefer the split grip over the newer full cork grips that 13 uses now...
  16. I have a Shimano Clarus M Drop Shot Rod and a Blackout ML Spinning rod that I use for drop shot and finesse tactics. I also have a quite a few technique specific rods for jerk/ripbaits (Berlkey E-Motion 6'9" MF), cranks/lipless (Phenix Maxim 6'10" MHF), big/small swimbaits (Defy Black 8' H, iRod Fred's Magic Stick 7'5") , and multipurpose rods. I just don't use the 7'1" HF rod much and want to figure out what I can throw with it in my bodies of water. I know everyone says downsize, downsize, downsize... but everyone that I see bass fishing where I fish are throwing smaller stuff, that's why I want to try the complete opposite and go big.
  17. Thanks for the detailed advice. Unfortunately, I am bound to the shore (no boat, and relegated to bank fishing city park lakes) but I definitely will try the big soft plastics, small swimbaits, and (buy) heavier jigs. The soft plastics and jigs are not my strong suit. I have better luck at these city lakes with lipless cranks, drop shot (4.5 Roboworms/Yum Warning Shot), and smaller craw/creatures (EX: Baby Rage Tail Craws, Big Bite Baits Fightin' Frogs, Baby Brush Hogs). I am willing to go biteless for a few trips and use heavier weights and bigger plastics to try and figure out the capabilities of this rod.
  18. I have ordered from omfishingsinkers as well. Their tungsten appears to be of quality and I really wanted to try out tungsten drop shot weights. They are pretty d**n cheap if you ask me. I stocked up on some other worm weights as well and got some insert weights. Shipping only took 9-10 days and surprisingly the package came from NY.
  19. I have had for quite some time, a first gen 7'1 HF-*** Black paired with a 7.3:1 Tatula 100. I rarely use it... I initially got it as a jig rod, but lately I have been throwing my jigs on a MH multipurpose setup. Can you guys suggest some good uses for it so that I can start throwing it more? Thanks.
  20. It would look like a warning shot (they work really well on a drop shot), I wonder if it would kick well on a drop shot... This idea intrigues me, I will definitely give it a shot!
  21. I would recommend iRod's Fred's Magic Stick 7'5" HF 1/2-2oz lure rating. I use it for my small swimbait stick, but I have it paired with a Concept 6:6:1 reel with a deep spool. But that setup can handle most of what you are looking to do.
  22. I don't fish the neko rig much (although I think I should...) but when I do, I like to use small o-rings (like you use to wacky rig senkos, but smaller) that fit around finesse worms or jig skirt bands, depending on the thickness of the bait. For hooks, I use size 1 to 1/0 Owner Mosquito Hooks or weedless wacky hooks. I think that this method preserves the worm longer as it slides up the line if a bass strikes and for piece of mind. I always feel that I'd cast off the worm if I wasn't using the o-rings or jig skirt bands.
  23. I use these... Keeps hooks and weighs separate, and has different compartments for shakey heads, weight pegs, rattles, beads, and other misc terminal tackle. Works well for me. The only drawback is that its pretty loud when everything moves back and forth when its in my backpack while I'm walking the banks.
  24. I can sell you a couple/few rods for $50 plus shipping. Let me look at what I have and I'll get back to you. Most likely it'll be Gen 1 Abu Garcia Vendetta's. I have a M and MH that are just sitting and not being used. Maybe even a LH casting reel I can throw in. But like I said, let me check what I have and get back to you. I have been slowly upgrading my reels and rods over the years.
  25. I still have a couple Huddgills still in their packages... Have not fished them yet. For all you SoCal city park hoppers, would now be the time to throw them? I haven't seen any beds yet at the lake I fish (MSP - Pretty dingy green water 1-2ft visibility) but was going to head to my old stomping grounds and hit up Tri-City Park or Laguna Lake.
