  1. I would recommend a few packs of Roboworms to drop shot with. Aaron's Magic and Oxblood Light Red Flake are a good start. you can adjust the length of the leader accordingly to stay above the vegetation.
  2. I have a Mattlures Swimbait rod with the telescopic handle. I like it, it really helps with the big topwaters like Lunker Punkers. I cast out with the handle extended and then retract it to start working the lure. It's hard to walk a big topwater with the long swimbait rod handles.
  3. This may seem like a stretch, but would you have happened to switch out the bushings to bearings on an Okuma Trio 20, Mitchell Pro 308, One T hree C reed X 1000, or Daiwa Ballistic EX2000? If so what were the sizes of the bearings? Just asking because it just may save me a trip to Harbor Freight if you have any of these reels...
  4. Are Line Roller bearings on spinning reels usually around the same size like reel handle bearings? I have a few reels that I believe have bushings in the line roller that I would like to upgrade to bearings. If anyone knows what size to look for that would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I have a Daiwa Ballistic EX2000 on the way. Aside from that I have an Okuma Trio 20 and a 1 Three Creed X 1000. I'll compare tomorrow and when the Daiwa arrives
  6. I'll have to check out my local Walmart. Sorry if I hijacked your thread. Back to the topic. I have seen CL8 baits trout (which they don't make anymore) has a top hook and a treble on the back held in place with a magnet and a frog hook on the bottom also held in place with a magnet. The top hook doesn't pull away, I don't think, but the back hook and bottom hook pull free to lessen the possibility of the bass throwing the bait. I wish I had gotten one before they were discontinued...
  7. I've only seen the small ones in the stores, I picked up a pack of those to try out for wacky rigging senkos. Are there larger ones that work for the 8" Spro Trout?
  8. I have been trying to experiment with a BBZ Trout and Butch Brown Rig it but havent found a decent way to secure the treble to the top of the bait.
  9. I wonder if you could use on of these, take off the hook, add a premium swivel, a cps spring and a swimbait tail...
  10. If you really need another rod, the One T hree def y blacks have decent reviews and are $59.99 at TW. You could go with another MH or go with the Medium/Fast for weightless soft plastics. I've been thinking about picking one of these up as a beater/loaner/backup rod.
  11. I could try that. With your knowledge about reels, would it be a bad idea to trim off about a quarter inch from either side of the reel foot to get it to sit properly?
  12. So there's no way around it? Just use a reel with a smaller foot?
  13. I recently picked up a Fury 703SF for a backup/multipurpose spinning combo and paired it up with a Mitchell 308 Pro. When I tighten the reel lock down, it doesn't tighten completely down, there is a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the plastic ring that is "exposed" for a lack of a better description. The area that is "exposed" does not cover the epoxy ramp that leads to the reel seat. Most of my other spinning rods tighten down to or past that epoxy ramp. I'm not sure if this is just how the Furys are or if it is a defect. I actually prefer having it tightened down to the epoxy ramp so my index finger can touch the blank when fishing. Have any of you experienced this with your Furys? I can try to post a picture later when I get off work. I was just curious if any of you have any ideas/thoughts/insights about this. Thanks!
  14. I think clear is the best all around color. But I do have a few setups with moss green Yo-Zuri Hybrid. I run either straight clear Sunline Sniper Fluoro or use it as a leader on braid.
  15. I know you said vertical, but I think these garage door racks may help free up space.
  16. I'd go with the Medium as well, I throw weightless soft plastics on a Medium/Fast 7'3" NV Black.
  17. So mine came from the old Myspace days. My name on Myspace was King_of_the_damned because I liked the movie Queen of the Damned quite a bit. I liked that name so much I changed it and added my shortened name instead of king. Ibrahim (Ib), and its pronounced "EEB" and used it as an email address ib_of_the_damned@_____.com for over 15 years now. Hence, ib_of_the_damned...
  18. How are you casting? Overhead, Sidearm, Roll? I have found that I backlash less with the Curado with the sidearm or roll cast. Overhead, backlash city...
  19. I have the Curado on a *** NV Blak M/F with 10lb. Sniper.
  20. Are you guys setting the cast control so that the lure falls really slow? I had/still have a problem dialing in my Curado71HG. I initially got it as a reel for weightless soft plastics (Keitech SIF 3.8, Flukes, Senkos etc.) and would have overruns 3 out of 5 casts. I have it set so that the lure falls slow with 4 brakes on and the dial set between 4-6 and still get backlashes...
  21. I agree, those Rocket Shads are nice little finesse spinnerbaits!
  22. Not to muddy the waters anymore with different shakey head options... But I have found that the Gamakatsu Skip Gap Shakey Heads work well for thin or elaztech worms. They also come in weights ranging from 1/8-1/4 oz and 3/0 & 4/0 hook sizes. I especially like these heads paired with the Zman Fattyz worms.
  23. Or what I do is remove the double hook and put a Gamakatsu size 1 open eye siwash hook on and clamp it shut with pliers. I feel it works better than the stock double hook.
