  1. This company uses two blades on one clevis. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/spinnerbaits.html?from=basres
  2. I believe you get less per package at places like Walmart. If I remember correctly you only get 6-7 Senkos for that price vs 10. The same is true for Roboworms, you only get 8 per pack in the ziploc bags they come in vs 10 in the plain stapled bags elsewhere. I do purchase the Roboworm packs from Walmart because I prefer the ziploc bags they come in, I just refill them with fresh Roboworms from the 10 packs.
  3. Are you manually flipping the bail closed or using the handle to close it? Sometimes using the reel handle to close the bail can introduce twists in the braid and fishing a weightless fluke can sometimes spiral on the retrieve further compounding the twists in the line.
  4. I was going to pair the rod with a Tatula SV. I have heard that those reels can toss some pretty light weights. I doubt that I would be throwing anything less that 1/8 oz. I did stumble upon a *** OMN BLK 6'10" ML 1/8-3/8 that may fit the bill and is also $70 less than the Phenix. I do have 2 OMN BLK's and an NV that I like a lot.
  5. You are not dodging at all. I was just toying with the idea of the BFS, as I think that system with smaller/lighter lures or soft plastics may be fun to fish at the local city park lakes. I feel that they need to be coerced to bite sometimes and I catch the most off a drop shot with Roboworms or Yum Warning Shots. Of the rods that are easily available, I thought the Phenix or E6X may fit the bill if I were to pull the trigger. But with some of the replies about the E6X, I'm leaning towards the Phenix.
  6. I'm not exactly sure yet what I would be throwing. But more than likely weightless plastics or small jigs. @WRB I would probably be using 6-10 lb flourocarbon, and tossing 1/2 oz or less.
  7. I'm willing to spend around $200 or less for a good finesse rod. I also prefer split grips.
  8. I'm looking into getting a finesse casting setup or maybe get into the whole BFS thing. I have been looking at both Phenix and G. Loomis for rods. The two rods that I am interested in are: Phenix Bass Recon Elite 7'1" Light - 1/16 - 3/8 G. Loomis E6X 7'1" 852JWR Medium - 1/8 - 3/8 Which of these two rods do you think would serve the finesse purposes better? Anyone have experience with either?
  9. Did it lighten the reel any? And how much line does it hold? I was thinking about getting one for my Tatula Tactical.
  10. Completely agree. Whenever I take more than one setup with me, I am always watching the rod laying on the ground whenever people walk by. I have had someone step on one of my rods before... I was super ticked. But fortunately the person was apologetic and offered to buy me a new rod. Which I gladly accepted, and a week later had a brand new rod!
  11. I'm the same way. I take 2-5 with me and walk the banks with one to three. Typically its a spinning setup (drop shot) and a M or MH casting rod. But the times I only bring one rod are the most enjoyable. Just the freedom of walking with rod in hand, spot to spot with a small tackle box in your pocket is incredible. If I do just use one rod, its mostly the spinning rod with a drop shot. The other times it will be a MH casting with a jig so I can practice my jig fishing.
  12. Another option is to take advantage of Price Matching from vendors like TW. I recently got an Abu Garcia Villain Spinning Rod (7' MLXF) $199.99 retail for $132.35 by having them price match. I found the rod on another vendor site that I have never heard of and wasn't sure about their customer service. I am a loyal TW customer and they have always provided great service, so I chose to keep doing business with them. My point is, if you scour the internet and find good deals on tackle/equipment, reputable retailers will more than likely price match to keep your business.
  13. I used to use a small velcro strap to secure the rig to my rod or took the hook, and hooked it in the open end of the DS weight then hooked that into the closed loop hook keeper. Then I started buying rods with the open ended hook keeper, then just slip the weight in the hook keeper and tighten the line. WAAAAAY easier!
  14. I can tell if its on the front or back treble...
  15. I agree. I don't have experience with the Dobyns, but I do have both Genesis II Fred's Magic Stick and the 704C. The 704C is a very versatile stick. The weight range is 1/4-1 1/4oz. I have tossed flukes, senkos, lipless cranks, t-rigs, jigs, and it handles them all well. You could even throw a 1/2-3/4 oz frog on it if you wish.
  16. Try the Huddleston Weedless Shad (Golden Shad - pictured). I have been tossing the Green Shad version with pretty good success. With a sensitive rod you can feel the tail kicking.
  17. Drop Shot w/ a Roboworm. Aaron's Magic, Oxblood Light Red Flake, or Morning Dawn. I have never had 100+ fish days... but I have been consistently pulling 1-2 pounders from the local city park lake on the Drop Shot. Or as mentioned above, Keitech swimbaits. I would suggest the 3.8" Fat in Ayu or Tennessee Shad, weightless.
  18. I can't answer your question, but I have a question for you... How is that E6X 852C? I have been eyeing that rod as another finesse casting rod. Sensitivity, tip, backbone, weight, etc.?
  19. I agree... I only have three Transporters left...
  20. I have a 6.6:1 (26.1" IPT/ 90mm Handle) casting reel laying around and wanted to put it on a on a MH or H rod and use it as a multipurpose rod. I do prefer faster gear ratio reels, and recently picked up a 100mm Carbon Fiber reel handle that I was planning on putting on a swimbait reel. I have read that a longer handle may increase the IPT of a reel so my question is if I put the 100mm handle on the 6.6:1 reel, would it increase the IPT from 26" to maybe 30-32"?
  21. I haven't tried that model, I have the 754C - Fred's Magic Stick and a 704C. They are both surprisingly light. On the 704C I have an Okuma Helios LP and it is the lightest casting setup I have.
  22. You can also cut pieces of wire coat hangers to fit the Keitechs
  23. I almost always fish my Keitechs weightless (I throw the 3.8 Swing Impact Fat) on a 4/0 Owner Twistlock. If I feel the need to add weight I use 1/48 to 1/32 tungsten nail weights inserted into the two molded holes in the bottom of the bait. That rig is called the Chikubi Rig. It keeps the body wobble action of the swimbait while adding a little weight. If I use a jighead, I use the Zappu Mustang Heads in 3/32 oz.
  24. Have any of you stained or painted your cork handles on your rods? I was curious if this was a good idea, I'd like to stain/paint them black or dark grey. Would the color come off on my hands while fishing?
