Bait Fishing in Florida?
For panfish (bream, bluegill, coppernose, or whatever) you can't beat grass shrimp. It is in most Florida lakes. Use a long handled dip net and work it along the top of the weeds. Go to a local tackle/bait shop and they can tell you about the net and maybe sell them. They might also sell grass shrimp.

What did you learn or where did you improve at in 2016 .
Soft plastic swim baits in lily pads, and, I can tell you for certain, color does matter. My most productive color is rainbow trout and I can guarantee these bass have never seen a rainbow trout. I never catch many fish but 95% of the time I catch some fish.

How big is too big to lip?
I got a kick out of all the posts on this subject when you watch the pictures associated with the four articles that rotate across the home page. Each of the four pictures have "lipped" bass.

WHY?
Yes, and when I get into a larger town/city, the radio gets turned off.

Is it Possible.
Wasn't there a bass, in California, that had been caught a couple of times, but not hooked correctly, that was heavier than the present record? I might not be remembering it right but I thought the locals called her Daisy. I think she was found floating, dead and would have still been the new record had she been caught within the rules. I just reread WRB's post. I guess "Daisy" might have been "Dottie". If you ever read what Doug Hannon wrote about big fish, he figured that the nominal temperature, growing period, food available and other factors I can't remember made north central Florida the prime area for a new world's record to come from. But, he probably never figured in hand feeding bass with rainbow trout in California.

Why can't I use wire leader for freshwater fishing?
I get a kick out of hearing people, who use spinner baits and buzzbaits, saying a wire leader turns fish off.

trolling
I like to troll, with a few different, small crankbaits for crappie and often catch bass and cat fish. It can be a lot of fun on light tackle. There used to be a real slow sloped point that I could catch a fish, of different kinds, almost every time I went across it at 6.5' depth, but it is all grown up to alligator weed, now.

Understanding bass fishing terms
How many times have you heard, when someone gets a big bass, man, that's a "TOAD"? That's a term I have never understood. It looks like a fish to me.

Oversized Squarebills
I've got four of those 8.0 baits. I've thrown a couple of them. Never a bite, but that could be because I gave up on them after just a little bit. I though I needed a John Deere tractor to reel them in. I've since gotten a heavier rod that may be able to better handle the weight and wobble of these big things. I'll try again, but not my favorite lure.

What would you have thrown in post tropical storm conditios?

Good Light Beer Choices
Probably a lot of you on here aren't old enough to remember 3.2 beer. Used to be, in some states you could drink 3.2 when you were 18 yrs old but couldn't drink "regular" beer until you were 21. Lite beer is one of the greatest marketing ploys there ever was. It used to be that lite beer was just the 3.2 that "adults" couldn't stand to drink. I have to agree with a few of the previous posts, when I drank beer, I never thought much of lite beer. But, then again, the best beer was in Germany. Now, they had some good beer and it sure as heck wasn't "lite".

Are Power Poles/Talons really all that necessary?
I have an eight foot power pole on my Tracker Grizzly 1648. I'll tell you like the salesman said, once you get one you'll wonder how you ever got by without it and will never want to be without it, again. I've thought my boat was pulled up on the shore real good, while I parked the jeep, only to find the boat drifted away. With the power pole, that never happens. It is possibly the most useful accessory on my boat.

Learned a valuable fishing lesson today
Unfortunately everybody has a right to use the water. There are a whole lot of recreational users that spent a lot of money for their toys and they want to be on the water, too. Since I've retired, I don't even try to get near a landing on the weekends or holidays. Those are the best days for me to get some chores done. Labor day is just that for me, a day for labor.

Please help me understand problem with new spinning setup
Just reeling the new line off of the filler spool with no tension on the line will do this. Your line has to be snug on the reel. I like to wear a leather glove and pinch the line as I reel it onto the reel.

Do bass, eat bass?
Bass are like any other predator fish. They will eat anything that doesn't eat them first.
