  1. welcome
  2. Glad to see another from IA. Welcome!
  3. This is kind of off subject, so I apologize. But if you use the clear blue Florescent line, you could leave that on all the time and fish with it in daylight also, right?
  4. How fun! Just starting to figure jigs out also.
  5. So, when someone says they caught the majority of their fish on secondary points, depending on what lake they are fishing -they could be talking about points in coves and channels, or they could be talking about points that extend off the side of a bigger point?
  6. Just what I was looking for, thanks.
  7. Congrats! That is awesome.
  8. What is the difference? I know this has probably been covered on here, couldn't find it on the search or in the articles. Could you please help or direct me to a thread or article that covers this. Thanks, Otey
  9. It looks like we are using two definitions of a "pro". Some use the word to describe a status level, while others use the word to describe a person's occupation. If I fish for a living, I would describe myself as a professional fisherman. Whether or not I ever entered an elite series event. If I am fishing at a "pro" level, I would also probably use the same description. Even if I relied on other income to support myself. I don't have a dog in the fight, just chiming in with some thoughts.
  10. I haven't used them, but my brother and his fishing partner use them on the river for smallies and goggle-eye. They say there is nothing better. I think they rig them with a small jig head, like 1/16 or 1/8 oz. They talk about using the same one to catch 50+ fish a day.
  11. Yeah, I'd like to spend about a week down there and just go from pit to pit.
  12. Thanks. I went to Greene-Sullivan yesterday. What a neat place, beautiful scenery. I fished Wampler, caught a whole bunch of little bass. I had a lot of fun. It would have been nice to catch some bigger ones, but it was nice just to get out and find new places. I want to go back and explore some of the other lakes there. There were a lot of bluegill caught there yesterday. Thanks again. By the way, are there bass in all of the lakes out there?
  13. I'm headed to this area to visit my in-laws over the weekend. I will probably take my boat, but not sure. There has to be some good places to fish around there. They live south of town, so it wouldn't be too far to go to Sullivan, they said there was a nice lake there. Anyone have any experience fishing it lately? Not set on this place if there is something better. Wouldn't mind catching some crappie either. Thanks.
  14. Is that near Marshall?
  15. Put new plugs on, installed a circuit breaker, it all works great now. Thanks for all the help.
  16. Thanks everyone. The fuse is really close to the battery now. I just realized how many times I wrote "right" in that last post. I don't really talk like that!
  17. Just a couple other things: if I put in a circuit breaker, that takes the place of the fuse, right? So I don't need a fuse any more, right? Also, to install I just connect a wire from the positive side of battery to the cb, then the tm wire to the other side of the cb, right?
  18. You know, I don't think so. I bought the boat with the TM installed. unless it would be somewhere in between where the wiring is run, where you can't see it - then I don't. I know it is not within 18" of the battery. I guess I will install one of those too.
  19. Thanks, and good idea lazee.
  20. I can't figure out why my trolling motor is blowing fuses. For a long time I would never unplug the TM power plug from the boat. I did unplug it the last time I used it, then yesterday when i plugged it back in, it worked for about 20 seconds then blew the fuse. The fuse would blow immediately after replacing then connecting back to the battery. The only thing hooked to this battery is the TM and the on board charger, I disconnected the charger, with no difference. Both the male and female ends of the plug look very worn and corroded, should I start just by replacing the plugs and see if that fixes the problem? Any other ideas? Anyone else ever have this problem?
  21. Do you just use a surgeon's knot to conect the new to the old?
  22. I know this has probably been covered, but I couldn't find it with the search feature. I have spent the winter learning to operate my first baitcaster, that along with several snags has left me with about half a spool of line left on the reel. Should I take this line off, and totally re-spool the reel; leave this line on and spool up the rest of the way with new line; or continue using it like it is until I just don't have enough line to fish with?
  23. Did somebody say FREE? I'm in
