  1. It is 7'11" at the wheels.
  2. I am going to put the on board charger from my last boat on the one I just bought (see new boat thread). My last boat was a tin, and had a solid piece of aluminum that went around the inside of the battery/fuel tank compartment. In this fiberglass boat I don't really see good place to screw the charger to. I am afraid I will damage something. Any suggestions?
  3. Not sure on the trailer, I can measure at lunch and let you know. I think I like the DC more now that I have fished out of it, I was just afraid it would take up too much space, but it really doesn't.
  4. I sold my little aluminum boat last week. I wanted to upgrade, but wasn't sure if I would find what I was looking for very soon or not. I told my wife that if I didn't find a good used fiberglass boat soon I would just get a small john and a trolling motor so I would not be stranded for the rest of this season. Then I could try to find something next spring. I wanted something I could still take to the smaller lakes I like to fish around here, but also not be afraid to get out on some bigger waters from time to time. I also wanted more room, my last boat was really narrow, with no storage. Well, it didn't take very long to find it - it is a 95 Skeeter SS 140. 17' 6", Dual Console, 115 hp Force Outboard. The best thing is that I only had to spend $600 over what I sold my Aluminum boat for! I wasn't sure about the Dual console, but the deck is still huge compared to what I was used to. I have had it on the water twice, it runs and rides great, and is so much more stable in the water. The previous owner just babied this thing, and kept up with all the maintenance. I am really excited, I should not have to worry about trading for a while now. I am not very experienced with running at high speeds. Driving and controlling the boat is not a problem, but not really sure how I should trim it to get the best performance. The electronics suck, so I need to upgrade them, but that is about all it needs right now.
  5. I agree, I just started reading it for the second time.
  6. I will sure try, will you be there the 1st through the 3rd? Or do you know yet?
  7. I may try to come down there one day while you guys are there. I only live about 2hrs from there, I would like to meet you guys in person - and I have been wanting to get down there anyway.
  8. Changed the spark plugs tonight, took it out and it ran great. Thanks!
  9. It's a 95 mercury 30 hp 2 stroke on a 15 ft Sea Ark aluminum bass boat. It just has a 6 gal tank with a bulb running to the motor. No water separator that I know of. I do use an additive, usually stabil, and sometimes seafoam. I am not sure if I put any in it last time or not. It has always ran like a top before this. I use it on a lot of "no wake" lakes, so I don't get to run it very fast very much.
  10. I had my boat out yesterday, it would not rev up like normal even when I had the throttle lever all the way forward. I can get it to rev up fine with the fast idle lever. Do you think the throttle cable just needs adjusted? Is this a hard thing to do?
  11. I just got back from there. I had tried to book with Tom, but by the time I knew the date I needed, he was booked. He was kind enough to refer me to a guide named Jason Hoffman. Really nice guy, knows what he is doing. Young guy, late thirties - a lot of fun. I think he said he had been guiding full time for 10 yrs on Lake Fork and a few years part time before that. I would definitely go with him again. I saw that 14.4 in the tank at the Marina. Huge! There is supposed to be a video online somewhere of them catching it. good luck!
  12. x2 that is awesome.
  13. Are they comparable to the Trion, or the BPS pro qualifier? Never used one before, but they look like a great deal. I have several prodigy baitcasters ...they are made by Daiwa. I have owned and used several baitcasters thus far, including shimano citica 200D, bps pro qualifier, revo s, revo sc, revo sx, pinnacle inertia?, and I think the cabelas reel stacks up very nicely, at least as good as most, and in my opinion, better than the pro qualifier. For 69.00 bucks, you would be hard pressed to beat it. Again, this is just my opinion. Well that is certainly a good recommendation. I may have to try one paired with an XML rod, that combo is on sale for $119. I have been really happy with my pro qualifiers, but with these being $30 cheaper, I don't think I can pass it up.
  14. That's a great story. More of us should do things like that.
  15. Might of been a new trick back then.

  17. It seems like I get less vibration in the guides with a two hand cast when casting long distance. That is about the only time I use two hands.
  18. I just really find it flabergasting. How much gall do you have to have to actually go through with that? How can you think you would not eventually get caught?
  19. I use megastrike also. I thought about putting it in my bags with the baits, but it takes so little of it to cover a bait, that I think you would waste a lot. So I just put it on as I go.
  20. Welcome, grew up in So Mo, but live in IA now.
  21. welcome!
  22. That is great. I felt like the video really helped me too!
  23. I am not sure if your plan will work or not, but I don't think you have to be exactly like every other guide to get some business, nor do you have to have the biggest and nicest boat. Where I grew up in Southern Missouri, there are 4 or 5 brothers (all in their 50's and 60's now) who are considered the local experts on a certain river in the area. They take people out in john boats to fish for smallmouths and goggle-eye. I think they stay pretty busy, lots of business from St Louis and Springfield, MO. People who don't want to spend their only day off trying to find places to fish. This is not a famous fishery, they don't run ads or anything, they just take care of their customers and it spreads through word of mouth. None of them rely on it for their livings, but they use it for supplemental income. I know this doesn't exactly fit the example, and I think you have some things to think through. Just an idea of how if you think outside the box a little - you never know what you might get into.
  24. Will they honor the same prices in the stores? I have to drive right by one next Tuesday.
