  1. I tried that, didn't work.

    Howdy!
  3. Sure you weren't in southern MO? Sounds like some people I knew growing up.
  4. I had the same thing happen to me, I loved the rod - but broke right away. They weren't kidding, I just walked in with the pole they said go pick another one out, no questions asked. I got an extreme instead - couldn't make myself get another carbonlite.
  5. Thanks guys, I knew you guys would point me in the right direction.
  6. My son is 4, and is getting pretty decent at casting. Up until now we have been using the superhero kids poles, and they just constantly lock up and malfunction. I think I would like to get him a reel of a little better quality, but still a spincaster. One that I might not have to work on every ten casts. Is the Zebco still the better choice among these?
  7. Congrats JFrancho!
  8. Gosh, I wish I would have been able to get down there to meet you guys. Maybe next time!
  9. Thanks guys. I know this is sort of labor intensive, but shouldn't be anything I can't do myself, right?
  10. So, I guess that is a yes? It is a Skeeter fiberglass boat, so there should only be fiberglass under there I would suppose.
  11. I am thinking about replacing the carpet on my boat over the winter. Do you need to get all the old glue off before gluing the new carpet on? If so, what is the best way to remove it?
  12. Howdy, I'm a Southern Mo hillbilly now transplanted to IA.

    Good job!
  14. Thanks for the story and pics. Glad you had a good day. I can't wait to get back down there.
  15. Also, you may have success by finding out which ad and marketing companies have a fishing company's account. Some will have their own in house marketing, some will farm it out, and some do both. Instead of working directly for the tackle company, you may want to try and work for their ad agency. Sometimes even their field reps don't work directly for the company, but another agency or marketing firm.
  16. There's nothing wrong with asking for ideas, networking and picking other people brains. To me that shows you're trying to find ways to be more valuable to them, or at least validate how valuable you currently are. Try looking at some event marketing websites for ideas, that is ultimately what you are doing for them. Also, talk to your sponsor and see what things they could use. Data capture is a big thing for most companies today. If they can see value in having peoples contact info, set up a sweepstakes booth at the tourneys and other fishing related events you are attending. Have a friend man the booth, man it yourself, or pay a college kid to man it. Give away some nice prizes at the end of the season. Provide the entrants data to your sponsor for their e-lists, and you just gave them access to a whole bunch of potential customers. There are laws and rules with this kind of thing - check them out. The customers must "opt-in" to receive anything from you or the sponsor.
  17. I agree, that is a good idea. You would think it would help both organizations. It might bring in some new sponsors that are not involved with either right now. Are there any conflicting rules between the two? Kind of like the DH in baseball?
  18. That's a great fish, good job!

I used to use the ewg all the time. I have gone to a round bend with the off set shank and like it a lot, especially for worms. You don't have to take the hook through the bait and then back in, you can just leave it in the bait and still get a good hook up. Also easier to keep the bait straight on the hook. This hook actually has a wider gap than the ewg. JMHO.
