Tied PB on a crankbait!
It has been a tough fishing year with all the rain we have had. Me and Laine finally got back out to the pond after missing almost a month of fishing. (Place was flooded! >) I was having a really slow morning with only about 2 bites after almost 3 hours. I was getting pretty frustrated to say the least! Laine was doing okay with a crankbait, so I decide to tie on one also. After about 10 casts, the big boy hit. She weighed 7.12 on the digital scale, which tied my personal best. I was definitely pumped! I think the biggest crankbait fish I have ever caugth before this one was about 2 1/2 pounds...

Most Overrated lures....
Chatterbaits seem to get a bad rap. I have had days when I can't buy a hit on one of them, then other days, the fish just tear them up. I do know that at the pond we fish at, my buddy and I have both caught our PB's on chatterbaits

What brand reel?
Daiwa for collecting, and Shimano for fishing...

Lets see your old reels...
The last reel is an old Shakespeare reel. I think it was made sometime in the 40's. It is still in great shape! I did have a revo for awhile. I just didn't like the reel. Don't really know why, it just didn't feel like a very good reel. I mainly fish with Shimano and Daiwa, so I am probably just used to those...

Smokin' day at the pond!
No, the new reels are safely tucked away in the display cabinet.. I used the old tried and true Mg50 and Curados... Daiwa's are the coolest reels, but I really like fishing with Shimano's

Smokin' day at the pond!
Here's a pic of the 7 pounder. Kinda strange, she had a nice belly on her, and her tail was messed up like she was on a nest or something. Surely she still wasn't spawning???

Smokin' day at the pond!
We had an awesome day at the pond today. Fishing was slow for about the first 20 minutes, then Laine hooked into a nice bass. He fought it for awhile, but it ended up spitting his jig out on the first big jump. (kinda sucked for Laine, but it worked out good for me later! ) We noticed a bunch of fish hitting the surface out in the middle of the pond, so we decide to go out there and throw some topwaters at them. We ended up catching over 30 each in about 3 hours! Caught almost all of them on Zara Spooks, and Rebel Pop-R's. I ended up catching my very first double. Two fish on the same lure at one time! We decided before we left to go back and fish the same spot that Laine hooked the big one earlier in the morning. Well it only took about two cast before I hooked into a nice 7 pounder. The old girl put up an awesome fight! Thanks for leaving her for me Laine! ;D

Some new gear!!
I definitely agree with ya about the I'ze light. I have been looking at them for quite awhile, and I finally decided to pull the trigger on one. I am glad I did, they are a beautiful reel. The type R+ was hard to find. I could find several that were used and scratched, but the NIB one was tough! It is an awesome reel though...

Some new gear!!
It would be really expensive! ;D

Some new gear!!
Hey guys, I just picked up a few reels that I have been trying to find for quite awhile. They are getting harder and harder to find NIB. I am just excited to finally get them, so I thought I would share some pics. First reel is a Daiwa Millionaire I'ze Light, and the second is a Daiwa TD-Z Type R+.

Show us your gear!
It has both. The grip you hold is cork, and the rear grip is foam. Did you also notice the jade reel seat? Very cool.. 8-)
