Most Overrated lures....

Featured Replies

Ok just to start up some drama on the forums im asking what you guys think is a overrated lure. A lure that many people say is great that you think is trash. Or it can be a lure that is realy exspensive and hardly produces fish. Or maybe just a lure that doesent work at all. Well what you guys think?

what works for one sometimes wont work for another so whos to say whats overrated or not

by the way  helicopterlures and snakelures  way overrated ;D ;D

I know last year Chatterbaits were all the rage and I almost went out and bought some. Sure glad I didnt. Some will say the flying lure is overated. That maybe a fact BUT,I did catch 2 decent Bass back to back when I was fishing as a kid.

The Chatterbait may be overrated, but I'll take a Gambler Swimblade almost any day.  I've done quite well with them.

Now if Byron would tell BPS to go flip sand and sell everyone the weedless version, that would be cool.  Of course, BPS paid to have that made and all that, but still, I'd love to see a large bait company tell BPS "no way do you get our baits."

Yamamoto senko i use a 3x strike king zero and outfish my buddies 4 out of 5 and catch all 4 on a single zero while they are puttin on a new one each time ;)

berkley blade dancer.

Chatterbaits, are definitly a hit or miss proposition.

there are days when they are killers.

try a yo-yo retrieve.  ripping the bait off the the bottom then let it flutter back down

I actually like senkos. The only ones I have used are the origional yamasenkos though. I know the other brands dont cost as much money but I have always wondered if they catch as many fish as the origional senko brand. Maybe I should try out the knock offs some time.

The banjo minnow, and I actually trusted Bill Dance as a kid, but not anymore >;)

I agree with that 100%. Those lures were all the rage when I first started fishing in like 5th grade. Since then I have seen many people fish with them and have not seen one bass caught with them. Im glad I never asked for a set for christmass now :o.

Chatterbaits for sure. The original was OK but the next version seemed to be made poorly. One other lure that might make this list later on is the Rapala X-Raps. They are a great looking, well made lure but I just don't catch as many fish with them as I do with Lucky Craft jerkbaits and the original Rapalas.

I doubt any Rapala will ever work as good as the  ORIGINAL FLOATER, it is one of the greatest lures ever made. That being said their whole present lineup are great lures. i have found the Xrap to be a great Spring and Fall bait. The floater works all year long!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm gonna catch flack for this one, but I'd have to say $15 and up crankbaits.  Don't own one and never will.  (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it ;)  )
