  1. I have one also bought it when they came out ..... I was told back in the late 90's nobody has parts for the old Shimano Speed-Spools. Great reel and yes it was very well constructed.
  2. Silver Thread I still love this line !
  3. to me the Steez is perfect as it comes at the price point I expect it to be so & it is !!!!!!!!!! love mine ir's a masterpiece !!
  4. me too ! the old speed spools were 4.3 that "powered" up to 4.7 depending on how fast you "wound" it.... at the time it was sonic speed
  5. Daiwa Steez just got one two weeks ago just amazing !

just bought this .... http://www.histackleboxshop.com/Megabass-Orochi-Cyclone-Baitcasting-Rod-F4-66x4-p/megabass-casting-f4-66x4.htm love the fact it's two-piece & a very quality two piece the construction reminds me of the sage or loomis fly-rods my brother uses.
  7. Daiwa Crazy Cranker is the BEST & I have used the older SpeedSpools until I discovered this reel I thought the Revo was kinda shoddy just by handling it/
  8. reels .......... although I just ordered a Mega-Bass rod.
  9. still have one Lews 4:2 retrv. when Browning sold them and still use it ..... my fav. now is Daiwa Crazy Cranker the BEST reel I have ever owned @ 4:9 retrv.
  10. I'm very picky on retrv. of my reels used the old speed-spools for yrs. and held back buying a new reel until I saw the Daiwa Crazy-Cranker at 4:9 gotta be the closest yet to the 4:3 on speed-spool so got two.
  11. what a reel !! the new speed-spool .... I still prefer my older ones ... I think & if I had it to do over I still would have picked my Daiwa Crazy-Cranker .. Zillion series ... the ratio @ 4:9 is the "magical" retrv.
  12. light oil spool shaft and bearing when I change line ... which is about every two weeks.
  13. for years ..... the BB1N have 3 when Browning made them or had their name on them. ... in 4.3 retrv. caught all my big bass on them 10-11 lbs. my fav. reel !
  14. I use an old Browning Hy-Power Jim Bitter 5'6" pistol grip that he endorsed for jerk bait fishing.... also use it for shallow to med. cranks... with a Lews BBiN from 1989.
  15. by accident ... no kidding ... what i "stumbled" across thru the yrs.
  16. not only long casts with old speed-spool, but you could "target" close areas with ease also...... seems the "cast-control" knob was infinite.
  17. Silver Thread .... my fav. by far 2nd for me is Big Game.
  18. truly..... bass fishing is about "confidence" and we all have our "tried & true" stuff.
