  1. Thats a handfull there
  2. Used one the other day for the first time with a 4" curly tail grub. Generates alot of wobble! The hooks are sorta weak but still a nice addition to the arsenal!
  3. I'd like to hear a little more about that one!!! x2. Do tell. I was in the everglades backcountry running airboat trails (a place I should never have had my boat) with my friend/sponsor. When I came off plane the lower unit settled into into the swamp muck pretty hard. Never gave it any thought. Filled the livewell with some hawgs and started the run out. Noticed the peehole was clogged. Shut the boat down and both of us were working on unplugging the peehole. What we did not notice was that our weight (500#'s + 220# motor) was causing us to take water over the transome of my skiff. My partner hollers that my fuel tank was floating. I thought we had accidentially knocked the plug out. 20 seconds later the boat had filled to the rub rails and smoothly settled to the bottom of the muck bed. Somewhere during that 20 second period we both bailed out because we were listing hard to starboard and a few seconds from rolling over. Now we are in the water looking at a major problem. The only part of the boat above water was the trolling motor, steering wheel, motor cowling and poling platform. After alot of "What the heck just happened", we worked the boat about 40 yards over to a sawgrass island (I could feel with my feet that the base of the island was dug out by gators). We got the bow up on the island as far as we could and my pardner went to the stern and tried to hold it up as I used a tackle box to bail boat. I would have used the bilge pump but it plugged up immediately by the muck. It took 2 hours to get enough water out of the boat to safely get up on plane. Thankfully the motor started up and off we went. Its funny now ;D....but at the time it was a nightmare X10. Didn't have time to worry about the gators. Yep thats definately the dumbest thing i think I have ever done.......
  4. Some of my most successful fishing trips (bass, inshore and offshore) have been on a Falling Barometer. I love to see storms moving in, winds picking up, and skies starting to blacken, except when its cold. I can't explain what it does to a fish but my experience is that they are greatly effected and usually start feeding actively. Here is a good read that explains some more on what barometric pressure does to fish. http://www.quickoneplus.com/fish/articles/page.asp?page=barometric
  5. Those Va. bass are awesome. Must be an incredible piece of water. Congrats
  6. I own 4 carrot Sticks. I registered them online as prescribed by them. I have broken 3 of them in the last year, only one was on a cast. the others were my fault. Just sent in a personal check or CC for $39 and they sent a replsacement no questions asked.
  7. I have had Minn Kota's and Grady Whites and have turned the heads on all with no problems. Like the poster above said, watch out for those wires, if you nick one you will have a problem. Good luck.
  8. I fished a new spool of the Suffix 832 last week in some really rough sawgrass cover with XXL heavy frogs. I had a mono 15# mono leader with a uni connection. Landed several big bass nad had no issues with line accept a little bleeding. I like it......for braid.
  9. Fantastic fish and an awesome photo!
  10. Good post SnookOne! Nice mix of fish
  11. Thats a good looking fish. Nice job pardner.
  12. Boat is small and weighs less than 1000#'s. I'am changeing out my stock aluminum prop on a 50 hp mercury 2 stroke. Need hole shot. Figured a 4 blade SS prop was a good choice. Mercury offers the Trophy Sport 4 blades SS in pitches 15-12. I need to get the right one on the first shot. Any of yall have this motor and prop on a small boat? I do not have a tach and have no plans on installing one. Thanks.
  13. I tend to think you are right since they are newer, but why. What make the differance?
  14. Glad to hear the trip was a success. But a guide who won't let you, the client, fish arties? I got a problem with that. Great picture!
  15. I have never been a fan of braid. I have recently started using 30# power pro on one of my E7's and it works well for the heavy cover sawgrass. I'am thinking about trying braid on my Saros 2500 and 3000. Which braid and which # test has the best numbers for the spinning reel?
  16. Good report. Do you ever venture into the glades in the yak? I know a few areas you might enjoy and where you would probably be the only vessel on the water.
  17. Safer while trailer is in water. I have done it both ways regularly but have had a few time where boat slid back as driver was pulling me up the ramp and I had not secured winch.
  18. Iam with ya, heck of an addiction there! I'am surprised that these fishing show host are not knocking down your door to get in the boat with you.
  19. Are they full of roe or do they just all have big ole guts? Nice fish!
  20. Quote:Hey guys! Tell me how you view women fishing with you? I get alot of female anglers in my boat. I have found that they usually catch better fish than their husband or boyfriends. Probably because women are more patient and usually more open to learning a new or unfamiliar technique or style of fishing.
