  1. Set the hook sooner, your letting them hold it to long.
  2. I have a jr., great bait, but does'nt cast very well due to the angled lip.I usually opt for a sammy because I can can cast it a mile.
  3. I went out saturday afternoon with a buddy. The lake water temp. was 63 degrees. We started catching males swallow in heavy cover and stayed with the pattern. We hooked some nice females almong the smaller males. The females were not ready to spawn yet, even know we are having a very early spring. Maybe this is a great opportunity for a longer prepawn time frame to fish.
  4. Both baits will catch big fish equally, its all about when and where they are used. I use a spinner bait when fishing heavy cover. I use the chatter bait around the cover edges or on flats.I will use a 1/8 oz. blk.& blu. chatter bait with craw trailer, when jigging from the banks.
  5. Increase the poundage to 20#, sense it is fluorocarbon line and use the palomar.
  6. I choose worms based on the mood of the fish, Jackall flick shake worms are great but expensive. You have to be careful using small diameter worms because bluegills love them. Don't set the hook right away, be a line watcher and let the fish swim away a little before setting the hook. If you believe a bluegill has your worm gently pull it away or you'll lose alot of worms. Bass Pro has a new flick shake worm with a natural bend incorporated in it like the jackall worm.
  7. You can use this rig anywhere, it is just another finesse rig to use in pressured waters or when fish are finicky. Line size always depends on the weight of the bait you are throwing. I use spinning gear exclusively due to the fact I fish from a custom canoe or from the banks of ponds. I like a 6.6' or 7' medium action rod with 14# fire line in smoke color and 20# fluorocarbon leaders, I use the surgeons knot because it is the simplest way to join the leader. As far as worms go its vast, use at least a 5" senko or other.
  8. The magic shad is a great action bait, I'd like to see them redesign the head segment for better hook set ups.
  9. Spring time: Lake Fork Magic shad 4.5 , Late spring: sammy, houdini shad and cavitron. Summer time after a heavy rain storm: cavitron. Fall: cavitron and floating wacky. Heavy cover: frogs.

The Kmart store in my area has a small fishing section, but I'll check it out. Thanks jer
  11. Its all about water temp. 3/16 to 1/2 spinner baits, jigs with skirts and trailers or without skirts just a trailer.
  12. Single gold blade for clear water and double gold blades for dirty water. In clear water I take off the skirt and use a twister grub.
  13. I don't see a need for additional arms on a spinner bait, the "A" frame has been a winner from the beginning.
  14. I like to use the jig and trailer during pre-spawn in stained water and heavy cover. In clear water I use space monkeys and chigger craws most of the time.
  15. pre- spawn 45-60 degrees.
